1. Other bands being slow or faffing about. That being when sound checking or over playing their slot... I don't like being delayed.
2. Email Ashdown using this form: http://www.ashdownmusic.com/contact/index.asp Link them to this page if you want - I expect Martin will reply to you pretty quickly.
3. What do you currently have ? I had an EB-12 which was great, I only upgraded to an ABM from it due to a good deal on the ABM, otherwise it would have done me fine. It gigged a few times with a MAG210 extension cabinet and I never had the volume past half. As for whether the 12 or 15 is better - that's personal preference. It's usually said that a 12 will have better mids than a 15, with the 15 having better lows... but I reckon there isn't a huge difference.
4. When I had an EB (basically a down graded MAG) the 100Hz control rarely got touched, it seemed to make it far too boomy.
5. Did someone say my name ?! They are quite different amps in my unprofessional opinion. I think the ABM is a lot warmer and more 'vintagey'. The MAG has the ability to boost the EQ at 220Hz where the ABM has it as 180Hz and 340Hz. This is a quite different range of low mids and does change the tone available quite a lot. The MAG has more of what you'd typically call punch, where as the ABM I feel as better thundering lows as the Bass EQ = 45Hz Vs the MAG's 100Hz. The ABM certainly is more versatile with the valve circuit and 7 band EQ rather than 5, it's possible to get quite a superb clear tone from the ABM with some minimal tweaking. Out of the 2 - if you can afford it get the ABM, if not the MAG will not dissapoint you.
Can anyone point me to some sound samples for this?
http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=16704
"Accidently" turn it on. Then Noodle. What will they do, sack you mid gig...!?
No but it just sounds out of place .
7. I just hope no-one has a RIM bass...
8. My previous band was reasonably heavy 'classic' metal. I think I preferred the music to listen to rather than to play - it was a lot of boring root noting against 2 loud guitarists. My latest band is seriously funky with a bit of rock thrown in, much more fun.
9. You'll have to make do then :brow:.
10. Bass and arrows... I like it.
11. You spelt your name wrong by the way ! Matthew has 2 t's
12. You do seem to be expecting a lot for a little.. they're hardly mass produced off the shelf pickups thus you have to expect to pay more than you would for a set of P or J pickups.
13. Price or trade options?
14. Nice range of sounds you'll have there. Tell me about the Riverhead ? Looks like a G&L .
15. Looks nicer in your pics than his.. what you putting in it ? Is that your amp in the first pic on the right ?

Bongo 5

What colour is that ? Looks like Desert Gold but is a bit too yellow. Lovely bass Paul, i'd gladly steal it from you .
17. The only difference between the MAG and EB range is the power rating and colour. In other words - the MAG is a more powerful EB. If you see yourself needing more than 180w go for the MAG .

BOSS GT-10B

Snap.
19.
Never know i could be offered something better!
So there isn't anything you really want ?! Gas victim .
20. For the ABM you need 2 x 2 switch pedals.
21.
no it won't, i agree but with the master vol up to 3 o'clock, it's got a bit more in it before you run out of headroom. What did you set your input gain level at? I personally think you need to start looking at PA support.
Depends on how linear the pot is. Whilst the pot is at 80% of maximum it doesn't mean the output of the head is. The output could be at 10% or 99%, turning the pot to max might make sod all difference. Besides - the ABM volume control only rotates between 7 and 5 o' clock positions.
22. Without an extension cab the amp won't be putting out it's full power. It's a bit like driving your car in 3rd gear and trying to do its top speed. Putting your foot down more won't help when it's redlining ! I'd go for the 210 cab too.
23. I only sold mine as I got a stupidly good deal on my ABM. Easy to get good sounds from it and with an extension cab is was loud enough for medium sized gigs.
24. Have played this bass before Eubassix had it - plays amazingly well.
