1. It's no reflection on other people - just my feelings on it ! I wouldn't ever want to be tied to a certain manufacturer and have to continually praise them to maintain the agreement (and obviously be unable to criticise them in any way). Then again - i'm hardly top of anyones hit list .
2. I'd contact the Bass Centre - they'll have some info.
3. It'll be one of these...
4. The problem I have is as soon as anyone is endorsed, anything they say about their gear is instantly biased - I can't take them as seriously.
5. Don't worry, already sent the Status back .
6. Tedious after 10 days ?! You ain't seen nothin' yet .
7. Sure...
8. Sigh. richardd i'm afraid you might have attracted unwanted replies due to your request for them not to be posted ! Also, your response to them is not acceptable, I hope you will review this and post an update shortly. To everyone else - you are all very naughty, please desist from bating this user or I will get the Spank-o-Tron™ out of storage (it's been upgraded since ped broke the hydraulic actuator).
9. I suppose it is a disrepancy.. don't think it's worth a move unless anyone else has such 'issues' with it .
10. I think there's a difference between bridge and nut spacing that is often overlooked. Ibanez seem to have very close spacing for both on their SR series (which I would struggle with) whilst I prefer wide spacing as per Overwater and Lakland seem to do by default.
11. What about a Sandberg Basic 5 ? Not sure what the spacing is but it looks quite wide here.
12. I didn't record it but the Progress has a coil tap on the MM pickup which allows it to sound a bit more Fendery. I should also add the Status strings are brand new and the OW ones are 6 months old.
13. Thanks for the opinions chaps. I think the OW will have to stay - but dare I say forever ?!
14. I think it's at the point where nothing can beat it for playability, it feels like home. I need something that can match it in playability and also tone, I think the Status is not able to do the former here. What this has taught me though - is I DO like the Status and a 4 string headless custom order may be in suitable at some point in my future. EDIT: This makes me dizzy, swap out for gold hardware and we have a keeper ! One day...
15. Yeah, but then the Overwater plays so so well, much better than the Status, think that may be string spacing ! I'll admit i'm very torn between the 2.
16. I'm really trying to compare the 2 instruments to decide which one to keep - the Status has a fantastic tone but do I want that as my only sound ? The Overwater is obviously more subtle but probably more suited to more music.
17. I do actually quite like that Jaguar, is it a typical P/J sound ?
18. Ok have recorded 2 sound samples, one with my Overwater and one with the Status ! The differences between the 2 are quite pronounced: Recordings are in the following format: Both pickups, neck pickup, bridge pickup, all EQ is flat and recorded direct into Audacity via my PC linein port so there is a bit of hiss which is not from the basses. Your opinions please ! (of the tone, not my playing )
19. fretmeister, FYI if you hadn't stumped the cash up for that Bongo it was going to be mine .
20. Definitely been upgraded - see the battery box on the back. I'm quite sure all standard models (US and Skyline) are passive.
21. Everyone is skint ! I've seen some seriously stupid prices on stuff on here and it still hasn't sold.
22. I still find it crazy I pass within 100 yards of the industrial unit these babies are made on every day...
23. Got this yesterday.. it's not officially mine yet though - need to decide if I prefer this or my Overwater ! Mark at Bass Direct has been very accommodating to the fact my life is far too busy to go to Warwick to test it out lol. Full specs and info here
24. Sorry to hear your situation and that you can't play the bass anymore - but is that a feeling you've had just recently or for a long time ? I think if it were myself I'd put it somewhere out of sight and come back to it in a few years when emotions aren't quite as raw. I think even if not now, you may regret selling it in the future.
25. Ok, have got it now - will play it tonight !
