Guy Pratt why he played live with Pink Floyd used a fretless P for songs like Hey You and High Hopes..... I don't know about the original recordings but they sound great on my Defrettted Ibanez with a little bit of reverb
I'm fairly sure GP used a Status and latterly a Lakland J...
Can you see what I am saying though?
I really don't. Sorry. And what is the 'Neil Young thing to do' anyway? This sounds like the David Geffen / George Jones story all over again....
-
...and don't forget, he's probably selling up to fund Lincvolt. Pretty cool, I say.
Aha - but he drags out the old favourites every time I have seen him play.
What, like Surfer Joe? Three songs off the new album? Two unheard songs? And hours of feedback experiments? No Cowgirl, no Down By the River....
Here comes another crazy horse record and a tour to shore up the bank account....and...here we have another record and another tour to keep it rolling in.
Yep... there goes Ol' Neil on another Crazy Horse record and tour. It's only been ten years since the last tour and longer since the last record. He's certainly flogging that cash cow to death. Sorry - there's no doubt you're a big fan, but I'm not quite sure what expect from him. He's 67, and he's still on the cutting edge.

1971 Fender Precision Bass owned by Willie Weeks SOLD

I think you're being incredibly cynical. He's polarised audiences on this tour. And one of the albums he's just recorded with Crazy Horse has been baffling. These aren't the actions of someone selling out.
Maybe I am being cynical, but I think that Neil Young has become a bit of a 'sell out' now.......
Wow... I couldn't disagree more.
I actually don't know the "viewership" the site attracts in terms of page impressions per day / week / month. Does anyone here actually know that?
Based on the handy stat at the bottom of the page, I can tell you that, in the last 15 minutes, 780 users have been online, of which over 3/4 weren't logged on or don't have an account. That suggests a LOT of traffic, and presumably not-insignificant hosting bills.

Chromes are bright. As are GHS Brite Flats.
Erm, BC's very own wateroftyne?
This guy's intonation is laughable. What a clown. Rod Clements was always a bit influence on me. Great fretless P player. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cMMo3ZmYCE

An 8-Foot-Tall Woman Is Destroying The Entire Music Industry
wateroftyne replied to redstriper's topic in General Discussion
Mixed feelings about her. She makes out like it's relatively easy (assuming it's the clip I think it is ), but she's only able to crowdsource effectively because she already had an audience to crowdsource to, thanks to time she has spent on a fairly major label. -
The fact is some members are now pushing gear through alternative routes to BC because of the fees. If this does not concern you then fair enough.
Any solution involving a fee would alienate a segment of users too poor / cheap-arsed (deliberate distinction) to pay up. There's no magic wand to wave.
It's certainly not my understanding that anybody makes their living off of the site, or intends to. Certainly, it does generate money, but that's (supposedly) to cover the costs of running a website like this. I suppose we could argue the semantics of what a 'business' actually is all day, but my point still stands that the two are worlds apart.
They both need to generate revenue. That's as complicated as it gets...
When is it broken? I've seldom had a problem.
Most forums default to one notification per reply to a topic. Since the upgrade a while ago, BC sends you a notification for every single reply. So... you don't actually have to visit BC to follow a thread, which means I'm not on there as often as I used to be. And I'm constantly getting reply notifications which is irritating. I've flagged it a few times and been told it's a bug which will be fixed... sometime.
5% of 26,000 is about 1300 over 5 years = 260 PA or 5 per week. Of the 35 lost posts, that means that - perhaps - 30 of the 35 'missing' posts were by existing members. All very speculative though. Were I Ped or Kiwi, I'd be getting my people to look at this sort of thing on a longer-term basis.
Also, because the forum is broken and sends you a notification for every response you get to a thread, I reckon the amount of traffic will have reduced in general. There's less reason to visit now. If I were them, I'd make fixing that a priority. Bums on seats is everything.
I don't think the Rickenbacker aspect comes into it Kiwi. I can't remember there being too many Ricks for sale/trade at the best of times. It's a more general comment that the number of new adverts appearing daily just seems to have fallen off a cliff. CB
I think Kiwi's comment would have been accompanied by a wry smile.

The nay-sayers are right. A waste of time - save your money. Why does thr band want you to use one? It's not even as if they look traditional. The Precision pre-dates acoustic basses by decades. They're a bit 1990's MTV unplugged.
-
Ah, man - If it was a fretless 5 and a fretted 4 I'd be all over that! Drat.

Here's the Walnut Elite II Precision I used to have: It sounded great, but weighed three times as much as Luxembourg. So I sold it.
