I've never understood the criticism of Hotel California: it's a great tune, well played, well sung, well arranged, well produced, and a biting social commentary. The list is just a daft bit'o'fun.

It's the real deal (IMO).

It's great stuff, but the price does make me wince. One of the daftest things I ever did - back in the days before kids when I had a few quid rattling around my pockets - was buy a brand-new MESA M-Pulse 600. How I cried when I decided to move it on, and took a severe financial beating. Anyway, they deserve their great reputation even if it's been tarnished a bit by reports of flaky Prodigies and Strategies. And if I'm honest, I'm a little bit disappointed they've make the move into 'generic class-D head' territory. I liked it when they were a bit more unique. But they'll sell millions of 'em.

[/quote] Fair enough. She crossed a threshold fairly early on at which point the media seemed to decide she was going to be huge (IMO). I think it's because she appeals to the people who used to buy their CDs as part of the weekly shop at Sainsbury's. The advertisers dream demographic.

Can't argue with the sales, but she's nothing more than a good singer (with annoying phrasing IMO) who can co-write a few tunes. She's hardly unique, but with that machine powering her along behind the curtains, she was never going to fail. Such is the music biz.

The previous incarnation of the Ibanez Promethean does the job for me, but good luck finding one...

I'm still not quite getting this. It does a lot of things, but IMO none are a problem waiting to be solved. £600 is a lot of scratch for a few vaguely useful (and not-so-useful) features. Good luck to 'em, though.

Has Smells Like Teen Spirit been mentioned? Played out of context, I reckon a significant proportion of non-musos would recognise that line.
