1. Wow, I was quoted £1500 a few months back. Wish I'd jumped now!
2. Hello folks. Band is looking for a PA, on my insistence we're each buying individual gear rather then having to worry about who gets what when we break up. I have made sure I get to buy the power amp because it's physically quite small ( ) and because I'll always have some use for it in the future, in a rack rig or whatever. We have 2 Peavey 2x15" cabinets. They're actually PV215s, although they look a bit older. They probably aren't the best, but we got an amazing deal on them. I'd have preferred proper tops on stands but you play the cards your dealt eh? Amps! I was thinking about something like a second-hand RMX2450, but for the £200-£300 they go for there are some pretty nice deals on new amps. Just looking at Thomann shows the Behringer (shudder) iNuke, the 3000 puts out an a supposed 900 a side at 4ohms, reviews suggest this is more like 600, but that's enough for me. There's also Thomann's own amp which looks great on paper too, 910W a side. Does anyone use amps like these? What about other 'off' brands? Thanks in advance! Jack
3.
The venues will be small(ish) pubs,
Cool.
where 100W per side will be ample.
Really? Is this your first foray into this kind of stuff? I don't mean to sound condescending, it's an honest question. Do you know that 100W a side is enough? If you do because it's replacing your current system for example then fair enough.
4. The Tecamp Bad Cab. 2 tweeters, 4 tens, 2 twelves and 2 fifteens. 2400W power handling but if that's not enough it's available as a special order in 8ohms, so you can use 2 with most amps. Edited: forgot about the tweeters.
5. A Soundcraft Compact Mixer. Bass goes in, either from a DI box, my amp's DI, or just straight in. Line out from pc goes in for practicing along to mp3s etc. Then there's headphones (need some good ones) and the recording out goes back to my pc to record tracks.
6. I've been gassing for a MM preamp pedal for a while now. Would it be easy to remove the blend so I can use it in a maplins metal box?
7. Just to make you feel better, I'm now a week overdue. I did hum and har for a bit, but Alex assured me I hadn't lost my place in the queue.
8. Funny you should say that, I own 4 basses, 2 Ps and 2 rays.
9.
Is this to the Streamliner or the guy who is talking about the Terror? Because this is my Streamliner tread
Yeah sorry I meant the Streamliner. Horses for courses I guess, but I just felt like I was constantly fighting the amp to get some definition. Obviously I'm in the minority but you asked for opinions and I had an argument with mine, we fell out. Edit: In my very limited experience I did like the OTB.
10.
Commercially, they really ought to be less expensive than USA Fenders. If they came in at under a grand, then a lot of us would be more interested. Also, there is a ridiculously long waiting list. I guess they are happy with that? So, we just need to make do with what we can find or come across in shop stock. Not really going to make them big sellers.
I'd have to have a lot of basses (and disposable income) before I bought a Ric. Actually that's not true, I just can't stand them. But if they were really too expensive they wouldn't have such a waiting list.
11. I bought one on ebay and it was for sale on here about a week later. Volume for days, but I just couldn't get on with the ridiculous mid-scoop. Hated it, sold it to a BCer (who I assume is very happy) and I ended up with a GK MB Fusion.
12.
That's fantastic! I want an amp with Boom,Grrrr and Sizzz.
Don't we all.
The best explanation I've heard.
Thanks
13. Bass goes 'boom'. Mids go 'grrrrrr'. Treble goes 'sizzz' and occasionally 'clack'. Seriously.
14. Ok, Ok. Definitely the stack. Probably..............
15. Pleased to hear the midget coped. Why did you choose the stack? Did you consider the S12?
16. Thanks Gareth, Hartke always has exceptional customer service.
17. I hate being lied to, and encourage all manufacturers to be more upfront. Having said that, both my GK Fusion and the Streamliner 900 that I briefly owned were both sufficient.
18. Thanks for the offer Conan, may do that one day. What this thread should really be called is 'One big cabinet or two smaller ones?'
19. It's the backline cabs that are so-so, the heads are awesome. Rob has said more than once that the BL600 is their most successful head. I've gone lightweight (twice!) so I recommend it, but so has everyone else and there are some amazing deals on secondhand full fat stuff at the moment if she's not bothered about the carrying.
20. My GK Fusion is easily as loud as my old 1001-II, I believe the rating.
21. Apart from one guy, the Newcastle one is a pile. Send it back and shop them to Hartke. You're not being overly harsh, you're stopping it from happening to other people.
22. The good thing about a Sansamp (or MXR, Sadowsky, Markbass, Hartke etc etc) type box is not only that it's a tone shaping DI, it's also a tone shaping effect. You could use the Sansamp as a distortion pedal in front of your amp on every gig, if you wanted. I like my MXR for when I show up to a gig and the house amp is rubbish, I can guarantee a good house sound by using the MXR as a DI and then running it into the effects return of the amp.
23.
An overwhelming response - so bump!!
You can create a new post, bumping your thread, then delete the older ones. That way you only ever have one.
24. I like the baggy, see-through, blue rig posted above. Nice, tight low end.
25. Starting to wonder if I should have gone S12 now. This wait time is the worst, gives you a chance to second-guess everything! I could never cope with the months and months for a custom bass, I got angry when my car was late!
