I've just bought a 1/16 imperial allen key on ebay for 99p. Hopefully that'll do the trick.
I used to have the 4 string..... wait a moment that is my old bass! That was my first ever bass! Lovely creamy warm tone. Almost tempted to check the bank account... If you have any questions about it's history shambo just ask!
Thanks silverfoxnik & Luke. 'Tis a nice one but needs must as the devil drives. Now on hold pending possible trade.

Sorry to drag up an old topic but did anyone get an answer to this? I want to higher the action on my S1 Jazz and the size allen key needed, (in metric), isn't readily available information.

Status Shark Pro Active (circa 1997). 4 string. Alder body. 24 frets. 34" scale. Reinforced with graphite rods. 15mm string spacing at 12th. Active dual Status 'Hyperactive' pups. New Hixcox case. Bit reluctant to let this go as it's not your common garden Shark which only had one passive pickup, this one's a bit rarer, but... I recently re-aquired an MIA Jazz which is the instrument I learned to play on many moons ago. It's like meeting up with an old friend and my chances of actually hitting the note I wanted to, on it's neck, have improved tremendously. I did however make the schoolboy error of splashing all my cash on the guitar and not on any decent amplification so that's what I'm looking for trades wise... a decent amp or cab or combo around 300w. I never really noticed any problems with my Laney practice amp and the Status because the active circut cleaned it up for me. With the Jazz it sounds like the death rattle of a man with terminal flatulence. This Status has a wide neck but I'll miss it's thinness which makes it incredibly fast and lithe. It has a throaty growl with both pup's on full. Structurally the bass is very sound, seems built like a tank, and the neck is straight and true, (I heard a rumour that Rob Green took a special interest in this instrument). It has quite a small body and a smaller headstock so seems light and balanced. Cosmetically it's very good too, I'd give it 8 out of 10. There's a couple of scratches either side of the body, (which I've tried to photograph), a ding above the 12th fret which can't be felt when playing, (see photo), and a bit of the chrome has come off the bridge. All housed in a nice new lockable Hixcox case. Apologies for the grainy phone camera pictures... Chrome wear on bridge... Difficult to describe how thin the neck is... and perfectly flat! all nice and tidy... scratched on side... and a lil one on the other... ding above the 12th fret... in a nice new hardcase... One drawback is that I don't drive so you'll have to be local or not mind a journey to complete the trade. I'm based in a happy place called New Brighton, which is on the Wirral, not far from Liverpool... about 5 mins from the end of the M53. I'm happy if somebody want's to come try it out first and will suppy hot and cold running tea/coffee. Thanks for looking.

Sorry to hear about this. I was moments from pulling the trigger on this bass when I saw it.... You beat me to it. Ebay's such a shark pit these days.

Or do old pickups really go for this much?

Having just read the OP, I've looked across the room at my active Status Shark and noticed I've left it plugged in for the last 2 days... DOH!

Could be a decent bargain project though. J.
Barstewards pulled it from sale... and just after I'd put in a £20 bid for it!

You're going to need some sort of man trap... bear traps will work just as well. But what to bait your trap with? That's the question... Maybe some sort of regional media endorsed pissing contest would entice the ego of the local muso's. Prize being the barmaid at the local boozer? I'm sure she'd be game... so long as the prize isn't a drummer.

It's been mentioned a couple of times already in this thread but, from my experience, when I gave away my EB-0 copy and spent my life savings on a '73 Jazz, my game improved dramatically. My jealous guitar playing friend described it as "taking a rolls royce to the corner shop for a pint of milk" but I gradually got to grips with the b'stard and will forever regret selling it.
It says so much more about them than it does about the band.
You couldn't elaborate that for me could you? I'd honestly love to know.

I am unashamed of my dislike of U2. Years it's been going on now, man and boy. I could never miss an opportunity to express my dismay that such a banal act has inflicted itself on my conciousness for so bloody long. U2 week on the BBC? A new album by a tired old act masquerading as a social event, a musical happening. Just one long commercial for a band I've never liked pumped out over all the BBC's networks. There's been no escape and it really grinds my gears. If I was in any danger of buying a TV licence I'd be gutted at patronising such corporate shillary... and such hoary old, foot on monitor, rock god posturing. I didn't like it 25 years ago and I don't like it now.
