1. Not being a Kanye fan and only having heard a handful of his songs on the radio, I've watched with an open mind and can honestly say I think he's very talented. I'm enjoying it.
2. Reluctantly I'm putting up for sale my MIA Jazz. It dates from 2006/7 and I'm the second owner, having bought it in 2010. It came to me with factory round wounds that still had a lot of life in them so I surmise it was rather unloved before I bought it. And loved it I have. I treated it to Wizard '84 pickups, (Andy Wizard old ones, the originals will be included in the sale), and KGB Guitars made an excellent job of setting it up wearing Labella 'Jameson' heavy flats. The action is low and smooth right across the board and it is very easy to play. It has the S1 switching system which is a useful addition to all the things a Jazz bass should normally do. Cosmetically, I'd give it 9/10. I play most days and it's gigged a few times but mostly it's been babied. Played but well cared for. The body has no scratches or dings. The neck has two small marks maybe 3-5mm in length that are barely perceptible and you'd have to hunt to find them. Discontinued Shoreline Gold is not like a sparkling gold, more like metallic beige, very understated. I don't own a pair of scales but I've owned 70's boat anchors and light basswood P & J's and this is neither. It's in the middle, best guess would be around the 10lb average. It comes with Fender strap, Schaller strap locks, (originals included), in its original hard case. The hard case is the worst thing about it. It has warped and is dinged and was basically just a terrible design but it will keep it safe during transit in the UK only. I would like £650 for it delivered within the UK. No overseas sales please. Payment by bank transfer. Inspection and cash on collection is more than welcome and preferable, but you have to come to me in Plymouth because I don't drive. Reluctant sale as I said. I’m a mature student with no summer income and bills to pay so no offers please and no trades. The best Jazz I have ever owned and I’ll be very sorry to see it go. I have all positive feedback. All sensible enquiries answered. Thanks for looking. 3. Recently sold frannie a compressor pedal and was impressed by this forumites straightforward conduct. I'm starting this thread to give him my glowing endorsement and I'm sure it'll be the first of many. Hope to deal with you again.
4. I like it too, but don't need another Jazz. If you put the word Jazz in your thread heading, it would appear if somebody does a search of the forum. Might help, or might not. GLWTS.
5.
Looks like a a Guild Pilot to me
I think we have a winner. Mills seems to have previous for playing a Guild Pilot. Mystery solved. Thank you.
6. I was watching Sounds Of The 80's on the iplayer the other day when a rather youthful REM appeared on a clip garnered from the Old Grey Whistle Test. The song in question, Pretty Persuasion, left me cold, as did most of the performance apart from the last few bars when Stipe seemed to wake up, but what peaked my interest was the bass being played by Mike Mills. I've attached a couple of blurry stills and will attempt to add the youtube vid, (footage starts at 0;25). Please, put me out of my misery and name that bass. Thanks for playing. 7. I like the look of that.
8. Sold. Thanks to all who expressed an interest.
9. My laptop doesn't like that.... to be fair, it is over a hundred in laptop years.
10. still available bump
11. P, J, Ray5 and all the other abbreviated terms are usually omitted when using the search function... which means if I'm looking for one of them I have to scan all the threads using my own bleedin' eyeballs... the nerve.
12. Sigh. I may have owned one of these cabs once upon a time, as part of a pair. I sold mine reluctantly and I would buy them back if a had a regular gig. GLWTS.
13. Yeah, if somebody could just buy this ASAP and remove the temptation from me to plunge myself into debt for an attractive bass I don't need but want, that would be much appreciated.
14. MJs ‘Bille Jean’ segued into Wally Coco’s ‘Message to Society’ then Rolling Stones ‘Miss You’ which segues into Cake’s version of ‘I Will Survive’ The idea in my head being something high tempo, melodic and that moves around the fretboard. I always play the same songs so as better to gauge the difference between instruments, for me, just noodling makes it harder to compare. E2A, and some scales obviously.
15.

The sound of classic studio optical compression of the 60's and 70's at your feet!
The first compressor pedal not to suck the life out of your tone.
Operation is fairly straightforward. There are two inputs on the front side of the unit: a 1/4" input jack on the right and a 1/4" output jack on the left with a battery-ground switch on the input jack.
There are two controls on the unit: compress and volume, plus a foot switch to bypass the effect, and an LED to indicate effect operation.
On the side there is a trim pot to set the overall gain of the unit.
Compress affects the amount of gain reduction (compression) of the input signal.
Turning this clock wise will give you up to 30dB of gain reduction (depending on input gain).
Please note that the Compulators max gain is 26dB (see Trim Pot) so in some circumstances if your instrument is very hot you could achieve less than unity gain if you turn up the compress knob too much.
Volume increases and decreases the output volume of the Compulator. Use this for level matching between the effected and unaffected signal.
Trim pot sets the gain of the compressor's pre-amplifier. If distortion occurs turn this down until the signal is clean.
The unit is set at the factory at 20dB of gain which is perfect for most instruments. If you have weaker pickups or want to push the envelope turn it up to its max gain 26dB.
Power supply: 9 volts DC. Either external or internal. For internal power, use a 9 volt battery. To access, remove the four screws on the sides of the unit and pull apart. Note: battery must have at least 7 volts for unit to work! External power supply using mini plug, tip positive, 9 volt DC regulated (100 milliamp or more).
16. forlorn bump
17. Willie was an inspiration for me to first pick up the bass guitar. A great songwriter and great bassist. Good work.
18. Thank you AntLockyer. Now £75 delivered in the UK. I think that's it. Any lower and I feel I'll have to keep it, or find somewhere else to sell. I'd consider swapping it for a decent hard case for a Fender Jazz. A Hiscox in good nick would be reasonable.
19. I've noticed my foot tapping involuntarily recently. I wonder where the noise is coming from, look down, and it's my right foot spasming with the music. A bit like when a dogs leg moves when you scratch it's sweet spot on their back. I want a foot pedal cabasa.
20. Lovely looking instrument. Very reminiscent of one with a black pickguard that got away from me in the nineties. Good luck with the sale.
21. Tough crowd eh? It may be a little tatty looking and might have been technically surpassed by shinier newer models but it's still a classic pedal. Heres a link to the ovnilab review... http://www.ovnilab.c...ompulator.shtml
22. £80 delivered is a stone cold bargain.
23. No interest? What about £90 delivered?
24. Classic compression pedal. Bought second hand from this parish a few years back and criminally underused by myself because I couldn't be bothered buying a decent power supply when I only own this pedal and a tuner. Used it live for a few shows and the engineer loved it. I don't gig anymoreand it doesn't get used, it sits forgotten in a box which is a shame. £75 delivered, (I accept Paypal if you pay the fees), in the UK. You're welcome to try before you buy if local to Plymouth. I've bought things and sold things via this forum many times. Thanks for looking.
