1. Still for sale!
 2.
Ohm my - can't afford but lovely. GLWTS.

Great basses. I had a 5string bubinga model. Great sounds. Good luck with this one.
Thanks a lot all.
 3.
i need clean underwear what a stunning instrument
Thank you! You'd need another if you heard it :-)
 4. Then try the soapbar housed EMG P's. They are essentially a P shape hidden in a soapbar housing. I use the 40P5 in my Spector and sounds badass. http://www.emgpickups.com/40p5.html Check out the related pdf's in the right, the first one (40 instructions) has a drawing on how the coils are inside the soapbar in different models. Available original P or reversed (a la Spector) edit: the require routing for sure, but they are P without looking like one :-)
 5. Still for sale!
 6.
I'm using D'Addario nickels, I think it's currently a .024.
Valueable info, I just went to D'Addario's site and found that they indeed do .028 and .024 wound bass strings (single strings). I wasn't aware of these. Thanks!
 7.
That's the problem, plenty of flat wound strings being made, but the high F is the problem.
What's the gauge you are looking for as a high F? I always used 0.020 and can't remember I ever came upon a wound one, only plain steel ones. I don't think anyone makes wound strings near 0.020, flat or roundwound.
 8.
I was considering which year my YOB bass would be... I was born in 1962 but my birthday is 28th December which, I suspect, means that most factories would have been closed for the rest of the year. This means any "YOB" bass built in '62 would be older than I am. At least the majority of basses built in '63 would have been built in 12 months from my birth. Make sense?
If you were born in 1962, then the YOB bass is a '62. '63 makes no sense for me even if you were born so close to the end of the year.
 9.
(perhaps the 10 page form weeds the serious ones out , perhaps it covers all the things they've had issues with before?) Anyway , you vote with your feet and it seems you'll go elsewhere . I'm not saying they aren't arrogant , just that it's nice all our small businesses aren't like American food outlets on the face
For make that 10 page form makes a certain sense, whoever fills it out most probably got his / her mind together in terms of what s/he wants. Also serves as a written proof. I'm not saying this can't be done in an other way, because it seems dozens of well respected luthiers make customers happy with more traditional methods. As for customer service I think it always nice to be on the helpful side. If one takes the time to write back he might as well could've make Binky happy with a straigt and helpful answer. It wouldn't have taken much more effort even if he is not a customer - as of yet (and Drozd lost one potential one in the process) ( I really like Spector basses and one of the reasons I respect them is PJ Rubal, who is the vice president and takes care of customer service. I had inqueried him about a 2nd hand Spector and he replied back in a very short time with helpful info and more. He really took care of me and I wasn't even a 'customer' And I'm sure many here have similar great stories with other brands, too. )
 10. Really like the neck and the fretboard choice of woods. Also Bris is a great guy to deal with!
 11. It's a pity that you had this experience. I quite like some of his bass designs, and I was contemplating having one ordered some years ago. I still receive his newsletters and occasionally check the website and can't help to see that the way of the communication is going into a direction that I find 'over the top' sometimes. It's just too much for me. But I don't doubt that he creates some great basses. Maybe he had a bad day? (not that it is an excuse for anything)
 12. String spacing is 18mm at the bridge.
 13.
My Euro 5LX, purchased from another member on here. What an instrument!
Stunning! I had one just like yours in a four string version
 14.
Amazing colour....pretty sure nobody else is going to walk in with the same bass
Yes, thats quite unlikely...especially with the knobs removed 😀
 15. For sale is my Yamaha TRB6PII bass. This is the top of the line Yamaha six string, made in Japan, now discontinued. The build quality and the wood choices are on par with many boutique basses. It has everything that could be asked from a bass really. The bass is in very good condition (see the pics), plays well and works perfectly. Some key points: - 35" scale, ebony fingerboard, maple/mahogary 5 pice neck - light ash body with figured maple top and back - individual bridges with piezzo, 3 band EQ + a piezzo blend control - cca 5 kgs The price includes a Yamaha hardshellcase and shipping within the EU. I'm not really looking for a trade unless it is a US Spector NS5 or NS6 or a fretless Euro5. Now let the pictures speak..... (if you want me to take a pic of any specific areas, let me know)
 16.
Thanks, they're both lovely instruments.
Thanks you! They are, indeed. I think these Czech made Spectors are some of the best value basses around.
 17. Without the exact specs it is hard to say but I think £2250 is a bit high of a price. Granted, new Dingwalls command high prices and there is a long waiting time but with some patience you can score one for less I believe. I had a ABZ5, but no experience with the Combustion models.
 18.
That is f***ing awesome. Tell me all about it please.
It is a 'pre LX' Euro 5 with full maple wings. Bought on this forum last year, had it refinished in this color, also shaved the neck a bit. The color was hard to get right, I wanted something transparent, not too pink, no too magenta and not too purple. This is the closest it got.
both look superb very nice.
Thank you! The Puple one was originally a Euro 5, the knobs are removed and the controls are now on the back of the bass on the control cavity cover as sliding potmeters.
 19. I think it makes for an excellent project if you are up to making one. Otherwise I think the novelty factor wears off quite quickly so I wouldn't buy one. But again, would love to make one just for the sake of it. Quite a head turner... :-)
 20. Well, I have another Spector that is more Purple, so compared to that I say it's pinkish. 21. There is a Euro5LX in the classifieds (no affiliation) You will not get a better deal than that regarding price/value. If you buy this your are set for life really. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/304346-2016-spector-euro-5lx/ I had the very same bass (2016, red) and sold only because I got a US NS-5XL. Euro's have always been really solid and good basses but lately they have even upped the ante especially with the finish.
 22.
Wouldn't mind a better look at that pinky.

Is that a pink Spector I spy? Very nice indeed, always had a soft spot for a pink instrument (fnar fnar)!
Here you are (very difficult to photograph)
 23. The bass I've bought from Neil has just arrived, very well packaged and intact. The whole deal was hassle free and very pleasand indeed, especially both of us being Spector owners and admirers. Trust is very important when one deals with another internationally without being able to see and try the item. You can deal Neil with confidence, I wish the worlds was a place where everything could be done in the same way.
 24.
Ibanez continuing the theme of interesting* basses this year * Horrible
Some of the best looking Ibanez basses I've seen form them in years
 25. I prefer the look of the unlined board but when I play it has to be lined. I never played enough to have a muscle memory on a level that allowed me to play clean on an unlined fretless. (when I was a kid I played chello. Due to the taper of the neck and the hand positions it seemed a lot easier to get to the right place than on the long neck of the bass. )
