1.
I have 2 MIJ Fender P basses. Does that count as Japanese build. Top notch stuff as far as I'm concerned. Blue
😊 Yes blue, they count! The article is a bit odd- did the 'golden age' really span 1960-1980? I would have guessed 70's and 80's. Also no mention of Fender under Fujigen Gakki, which surely must be an oversight.
2. Here is a picture from the previous sale ad (the one before I bought the bass!) with a picture of the guard. Hopefully Roger won't mind me using? If I'm breaking any rules mods please pull. Cheers
3. This is a Tort pickguard that I took off my Silver Series squier to replace with a Bravewood guard. It's certainly not the worst Tort I've ever seen, but it's fairly average. Having said that, the guard itself is decent enough quality and it fit the Jap Squier perfectly. £10 and it's yours to your door. I will see if I can get a link to the sale ad on basschat! Will

5. PayPal is the scammers best friend. You literally don't have to pay for anything anymore if you pay by PayPal. Didn't receive it/Not as desrcribed/damaged... you name it. And all the onus is on the seller to prove they did receive it/it was as described/it wasn't damaged, which of course is impossible, so they get their money back. Insist on cash on collection then see what the buyer says!
6. Bump for a cheap set of flats. If you've never tried flats this is cheap way to find out if you like!
7. These are great! If you want an OD that cuts through and gets you heard, this is it.
8. Hi all, Solidgold fx Beta Bass OD. Amazing pedal. Boxed with instructions & sticker. *SOLD* Guyatone 'Flip' Tube bass compressor. Some pretty cool sounds to be had out of this due to versatile controls and can add a nice valve warmth to a setup. Can get a good attack from this pedal with some nice grit. Comes boxed and recently serviced by Russ Fletcher down in Cornwall. Also comes with generic switchable power supply. £35delivered. Generic pic: There is an onvilabs review of the guitar version here, as he couldn't find a bass version: http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/guytcx.shtml Cheers
9. Bought some extra boingy Labella low tension flats after Lee got in contact from my Wanted ad. A gent, was happy to hold on until pay day and they arrived just as described and in good time!
10.
...I've got to be honest i adore this persons bass playing. its so musical and dynamic. Of course i don't know who the f*** he or she is but, damn they lay down some fantastic bass. I love Zender's playing but this person is in a different league imo.. Wonderful wandering playing I've only seen in Willie Weeks . Whats your favourite ever playing on a record.?
Have I misread the OP's post? I thought it was Zender playing right through on Return of the Space Cowboy. ?
11. Set of Picato flats, cut for a P bass. Great flats, very thumpy, old school sound. Used but lots of life left. Bought from here recently but not my sound, selling on for same price! Will trade for Fender flats. Cheers
12. Unneeded B- String after acquiring a 5-string set through the BC marketplace. Must be useful for someone? £5 to your door. Cheers
13. It will come back. It's like the Herpes virus. I've found that when I've found 'the one', I simply get increased GAS for a backup. Or GAS for the same bass as 'the one' but in a different colour. Or GAS for something different that I know I won't prefer to 'the one' but just feel like a change. I currently have GAS for anything G&L. I also have permanent, incurable P-bass GAS despite owning 3 already (all of which are great) and having ordered another custom-made P that should be ready any day now. Doesn't stop me lusting over pretty much every P bass I see for sale on here. Damn you GAS!!
14. Having bought a set of Gotoh Resolites I have to say, if I was looking to replace tuners ever again it would be with them. They are simply incredible tuners and a direct replacement fit.
15. I don't think he's an alcoholic and I certainly never meant to insinuate that. He had a free pass for the night as he didn't have to drive and took full advantage at the expense of the band. This is the second time it's happened in 5-6 years. The first was an even bigger gig, but he'd only recently joined the band so we hadn't had the other stuff to contend with. The website has been a constant PITA. As he holds all the control over this, he makes it look how he wants. Which has included uploading images we're not happy with, photos of the band that we hate (of us stood about in the woods. The f***** woods!) and the last update had the random slogan 'Kick Ass Folk Rock' on the home page that made us all cringe. When asked to take it off, repeatedly, he didn't, and it stayed there for about 6 months. I'm too embarrassed to look at the website now and find myself apologising to people who ask for the address in advance. The last time I checked it didn't look as bad as it had previously, but still unprofessional and not in keeping with what we want. Same goes with social media where some very bizarre stuff has been uploaded.
16.
To me it's the above, not the drinking, that's the bigger problem. He has evident ego/control/narcissism issues, of which thinking he can both criticise others for lack of professionalism whilst lacking that very professionalism himself is only one of no doubt many symptoms. This weekend's drinking is to be honest a good opportunity to get rid of an ongoing problem that was probably going to get worse.
This is exactly how I feel Chris. Nail>head.
17.
A swear word?? ...Please keep us updated, Holby City is really boring at the moment. Seriously though, good luck.
Yes, quite possibly the worst swear word. Yep that one! Still waiting on a reply. He will have something to say for sure.
18.
if he's the bloke with his own wiki page, then he sounds like a right arrogant tw*t, get shot and move on, plenty of fiddle players in cornwall, along with mandolinn and bodhran, cant move for em! Seriously, drinking before a gig is a big no no, especially if you're getting paid.
That's him. Honestly, it has been leading up this anyway, as he has been insufferable this year. He has caused major fall-outs in the band by being aggressive and not listening to us. He's given us a really hard time, then done things like not be available for a rehearsal for a whole month. Saturday was the icing on the cake. An update though, the drummer has just sent him an email asking why we haven't had an apology from him yet. There was a swear word in there too. Let's see how this unfolds!
19. So, we've had a quiet start to the year for various reasons. Saturday was our first 'big' gig of the year at the Falmouth Folk festival. We've played here before and gone down a storm, and do a few local festival gigs for this promoter. We were the second to last band on at 8:30, but on arriving it was obvious our fiddle player was drunk. Really drunk. We took to the stage and it was an absolute mess. He had managed to sneak in a hip flask of whiskey and had brought a few cans along with him which he was sipping away on stage. He barely played a note right and nearly fell over a couple of times. We had to cut the set short and get out of there. There were several songs we just couldn't do as he has to lead on them, so we just cut them out. It really was one of those moments where you hope the ground opens up and swallows you. We've had different issues with this guy in the past, he's tried to convince the rest of the band to sack various members, me included, after I'd just had my first child (I wasn't committing to the band). This year he's been wreaking havoc by messing about with our website and social media by not giving anyone else any control over what is published, (the images he uses are dreadful), firing various angry emails across to us all for whatever reason, cancelling rehearsals left right and centre, including not turning up on a couple of occasions and not letting us know. In addition, he's always the first to sling sh** around if something hasn't gone his way, acting as if we are not professional enough. The rest of the band are not keen to sack him as we have a gig booked in Italy in August that they really want to play. In addition, it's hard to find a committed, competent fiddle player in Cornwall, and we'd have to start all over again. And he is a really good player. Any words of advice from the BC community? How do we address this one?
20. We had a gig cancelled last week because of the six nations England v France match. Cancelled the day before.
