1. Bump. £275 straight sale or cash added for light weight, compact 2x10 or 2x12 @4 ohm.
2. Wow... a lot of interest, more than I expected TBH. This is now sold. Thanks,
3.
What is the neck width on these? is it 44.5mm? thanks and well done with the trussrod.
Nope, 1.625 (42. something!) apparently this was a vintage option, someone may know more than me on that. Great necks, probably the best P neck I've ever played, the profile is just perfect, and rolled fingerboard edges as well. With the fret levelling job it is definitely the most playable neck I've ever had my mitts on. Cheers all
4. Hi, This is a bit of a feeler thread, due to the fact I've recently stopped gigging I no longer need a rack of basses, and also whether there will be any interest in this at a value that makes it worthwhile me selling it. However, this one is a bit special to me, due to the long way I had to travel to collect, the fact I'd gassed for a JV for so long, and the subsequent headache it gave me afterwards! Read below... It is a 1983 JV '57 reissue with raised A-pole pieces, cloth wire, strap button, reverse tuners, and a genuine Fender gold anodized scratch plate (which I added). Neck date 27/3/83. When I bought it, I had issues setting the neck relief. Long story short, the truss was maxed out unbeknown to me, and any adjustments were holding for 24 hours then returning to how it was. I think what was happening was twisting the truss, which would then twist back. Eventually it gave way and snapped near the truss nut. I thought I would have to replace the neck, but using sheer determination I managed to replace the whole truss rod. There is a thread on it here, if you want to read how: http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 Anyway, the upshot is the neck is now beautifully stable, with a solid truss, and as a result I can set the relief exactly how it should be, which I couldn't before. It's been perfect for the 3 years since I carried out the repair. Plus, it retains it's originality. The necks on these are fantastic and I really didn't want to have to replace this unless I really had to. Other than that, it's a great example of a JV; roughly 8.5lbs, minor age-related wear but generally good for it's age. Pickups sound great- just the right amount of growl and vintage tone. Also- the frets were levelled after the repair by my luthier at a cost of £90 which made it set up and play beautifully. Receipt included. I really don't know how to price this so I've put it at £500 for now. I really believe the neck is far better now than it was before and other than a couple of small scratches to the headstock where the original truss came out it's almost an invisible repair. However, obviously it affects the value so I have tried to be realistic, and hence placed it around a similar value to the heavily modded JV's I've seen for sale. I would put this up around £700-750 without the repair, for reference, and to be honest that is what it's still worth to me. However with my current lack of gigging and need for cash, I'm in a position where I have to consider selling. I'm down in Cornwall, so given it may be difficult to try out I will offer a returns policy if you're not happy! Will come in a generic hardcase. 6.
Hi, might be interested, live in the north of Ireland though, would u courier the cabinet??
Of course, if you were happy with the fee. Let me know what prices you can find? Thanks
7. Both left and right, but at different times. Sometimes you want a note to ring, other times it's more percussive. Depending on where in the rhythm that percussive 'note' falls depends on whether it's my right hand or left hand muting.
8. Their online tracking is also so far behind the competition. It's almost non-existent. Have you seen DPD's? It tells me who my delivery driver is, where he is at that precise point in time, what number delivery he is making (i.e number 30 of 73), which number parcel is mine, and an incredibly accurate (in my experience, within a couple of minutes) expected delivery time. Sorry to hear about the breakage, and I hope something comes through for you to sort it.
9. Hi all, TC RS212. You know the score! Great 2x12 cabs that really bring the low end. Heft-a-plenty I bought the cab about 3 years ago from the marketplace. It's been my regular gigging cab used with an Orange Bass Terror and it has never let me down and always sounded good. Never needed to drive the amp or cab hard at any gig I've done, including big stages and outdoor stuff. Plenty of volume and low end. Only now selling as my band is taking some time away from gigging, so looking to go for a smaller, more rehearsal/small gig based set up. Sounds great, is a fairly easy lift for one person but needs two hands. Comes with the TC RS212 black dust cover. These cabs are now just shy of £600 to buy new. Link to specs: http://www.tcelectronic.com/rs212/ RS212 Tech Specs
Dimensions: W x H x D 356 x 664 x 498mm Weight: 24 kg / 52 lbs Power handling: 400 Watt Enclosure: 18mm plywood side panels, 18mm rounded carved hardwood corners Surface treatment: 'Anti-skid' dual component surface Porting: Dual rear porting Woofer: Eminence custom 12" Tweeter: Eminence 33mm voicecoil, titanium diaphragm Tweeter adjustment: L-pad (off - 0dB) Impedance: 8 Ohm In reasonable condition, obviously a few marks here and there as it has been gigged, the bottom is the worst as they don't fit any kind of rubber feet due to the stacking design, so a bit worn here but this is the standard for these cabs. It's that or fit some awful rubber furniture feet to the bottom! These cabs are very robust though, totally solid and hence only the tuff coat is affected, the wood is fine, so if it bothered you, you could purchase some (easily available) tuff cab paint and this should touch up no probs. I'm down in Cornwall so postage is fine, and included in the price. Alternatively it can be tried out here, or I can make arrangements to meet a buyer at Exeter. Thanks! 10. Paul bought my Orange Bass Terror and a pleasure it was too. No faffing, straight in with the 'I'll have this, let me give you money' and was super accommodating that it would take me the best part of a week to post. A gent, to boot. Happy days
11. Classic vibe jazz bass- scratch that, it's a black pick guard... I'm gonna say a Marysyzuaxksksixk (or whatever), with East preamp, fancy pants pickups and hip shot ultralites. Can you just post me the £5? I can't afford your amp.
12.
If it's all factory original then it's birth date can't be earlier than it's latest date stamp.
But it's birth date can be later than its serial number. S9 = 79. So, possibly '79 parts assembled in '81. Not that unusual.
13. 2 new Hercules wall hangers. When I say new, they've been in my shed for about 4 years having never been used. Both in original packets with instructions, screws etc. Cheapest I can find online is £10.99 each so how does £15 posted sound?
14. I could be interested in this, but won't know if I have the cash until next couple of days.
15. I love the look of the SQ series. The Sen Ash looks incredible, like the early Fender logo JV's. Shame about the weight but I've grown to find that weight really affects how I feel about a bass too. A smudge too heavy and it sits in its case more than it should.

17. Bump £30 posted image by William Chesterfield, on Flickr
18. Orange Bass Terror 500w in flightcase with spare ECC81's This has served me well for a number of years but as my gigging band has broken up, I'm looking to replace both my amps with something that can do home rehearsals, small gigs, and the loud stuff too. This doesn't do the quiet stuff so well as it's so valvey in nature, it goes from 0 to LOUD in the smallest of tweaks! I've loved every minute of owning this amp and if it wasn't for the fact I may not be gigging again for the foreseeable I wouldn't consider selling. This is an earlier model so the DI does run hot, especially with the ECC83's, however I use a preamp pedal with DI out level so it's got on fine with that in the signal path. Not so much an issue with the ECC81's. I did have a DI gain reducer which worked really well, but I don't know where I put it! Padded 'man-bag' is long gone after the strap broke, so I had a flight case made up by Castle Cases which are currently £108 on their website here: http://www.castlecases.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=26_100&product_id=838 This is a great bit of kit, very heavy duty and solid. I did have to slightly cut away the front inside of the insulation as it was a little too tight a fit and it threatened to rip off the knobs. It now fits fine. See pics! The cheap Chinese valves are a little muddy in nature, (although I still have them) so I have been between two alternative sets since I've had the amp, some EHX ECC83's and some vintage Phillips ECC81's. The EHX cost around £12 a valve and are currently fitted to the amp. They are a big upgrade over the standard valves- glassier, grindier, with more punch and attack. The Phillips are lower gain so help the hot DI issue; a lot of folks prefer ECC81's in these amps and I did for a long time, so I am including them in the sale so you can decide for yourself. They are dead stock valves and cost me around £30 from the basschat market place. They don't have the punch or aggressive tone of the EHX but are a richer sounding, more vintage tone. Trades- I'm open to either a straight swap or cash my way trade against mini heads like Little Marks, GB streamliners, that kind of thing. Need to be loud enough to drive an 8ohm 2x12 (which this does easily) at gigging levels, but also a little more friendly for home rehearsals! £350 posted to UK, which is a bargain. 19.
I have one of these - they are excellent heads and provide typical Markbass tone and build quality. I have also had the pleasure of trading with Will (Cameltoe) and can highly recommend him as a great guy to deal with. GLWTS
Thanks David! Head is now sold to Alex.
