1. That sounds ideal, with a chance to try it out 1st
2. I've played a 73 P for a short while. My 62 AV Re-Issue is truly a great P bass, others have said it's the best P they've played too. Personally I'd find a good AV in a shop and pay more. Sorry I can't offer a more direct comparison. Under a grand is good, is that including duty and VAT?
3. Yes that's right Alan. You can buy a board with two strips of foam underneath and sit your cabs on it. Or you can just stick the cab straight onto the two foam strips. Less to carry, cheaper, more compact but slightly more fiddly.
4. I've had strange noises from a bass but it's either been my playing ( ) or the battery getting low.
5. Went shopping today, bought this at 1/2 price: No longer need these:
6. Much cheaper than the pad itself Alan is if you just buy the two Auralex foam strips and use the amp itself at the 'plywood board' that costs another £30 odd Boost them mids all the way, you know it makes sense
7. I think it's also important to get someone out front to check too Alan. I'm noticing how directional bass is at the mo.
8. This guy sells 4" leather straps on eBay, tooled or otherwise made to length. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-inch-WIDE-TOOLED-L...id=p3911.c0.m14
9. What you can do, at least with Schallers and I see no reason Dunlop won't work too, is to fit the lock to the inner hole, put the outer hole over the string 1st and then place the straplock on. That way it all fits together neatly and if the lock fails there's a chance the outer hole will prevent a dive to the floor.
10. I love the colour on that Jazz Alan (or should I say Gramps?). Is the Jazz fitted with the same pre, with an active/passive switch. You must come and see my Spector some time. Peter
11.
On a more serious note, does lemon oil work OK on ebony?
Yes
12. Bump Will somebody please buy this excellent multi FX unit at a great price. Otherwise I'll feel bad because mine sold
13. Looking through Alan's drawers ey This is a family show you know! Yes indeed, cocobolo makes me think Alembic too
14. Sold!
15. If I could have obtained an ACG01 Stuart it would have been a no brainer as they say. The opportunity to set up each pup with it's own low pass is important to me. Mids and sweepable are the other reason. I'm refining my sound now I get up and make noise in front of people.
16. Nice? Very Simple? Hmmm....
17. Hehe, and looking at what they go for on eBay we's probably still make more dosh. Ebay it is then. Who goes 1st
18. I use one of these for home practice. Tascam plugs in the front and headphones too when the neighbours are in. If you need a home practice amp look no further.
19. A bump, all boxed and ready to go, original packaging and manual, top condition.
20. Glad it's working out for you CK. I can't put mine down and it's no lightweight, unlike myself. Peter
21.
brass is dense and easy to machine aluminium and more likely an alloy can suffer easily from certain metallurgical faults..precipitations not imho a good candidate for a bridge...to light as well the real solution is to go through body...then the bridge is just a mechanical height setting and intonation function the strings being solidly anchored in wood...one wood hope
Brass is an alloy too of course. Aluminium is not a 'dodgy' metal due to precipitations generally. I suspect that whatever the 'gut' feeling the actual difference is likely to be unnoticeable to the human ear. Therefore go for the cheapest and lightest. Thru body is another possible hype area methinks. Hype rules okay
22.
The Sisters of Mercy
Good choice imo
23. That's the main reason that I bought it, not for the FX. I can plug an MP3 player in and practice when away from home with a pair of headphones. I've found the volume pedal really useful too and the effects are very good, inline with newer multi FX gear. It's a bit of a star!
24.
I agonised over gold rings with black knobs or black rings with gold knobs, I think we both got it right for the respective woods ;-)
Sometimes, life is tough. Retired Naval Officer so gold on black is soooo me
25. I've found an AC adaptor for this pedal. Check these beasties out, they are really useful multi FX units and the price is a steal. As new boxed with manual. Ebay next stop. Peter
