Warmoth P bass with Darkstar pup and ACG pre SOLD
GreeneKing replied to GreeneKing's topic in Basses For Sale

It can be useful. Passive P bass, MXR 80, one stomp to add some mids, 2nd to add some distortion etc. Although I except that the MXR is more than just EQ. On the Status last night the boost/flat/cut mid switch was doing a great job in that respect too.

I'm on the immature side of 56 Maturity - overrated imo

I agree, I loved his more melodic stuff, in fact I'm inclined to download an album now to listen to while I get some Uni work done today. My ex ended up with the vinyl, many moons ago. So what should it be? Running in the Family? In pursuit of Accidents? You could influence my decision here guys
Research does NOT suggest a very limited number of possible partners. Research DOES suggest a vast number of possible partners with whom a working relationship can be had, but in reality, you only meet a limited number of people to with whom there'll be mutual attraction while the prevailing conditions are favourable.
I like that Ville

If I were to even ask myself that question I'd walk out of the relationship. I'd rather be single than with someone and be miserable. Err.. yes I am single and yes I did walk away

Yes it is, Burr Madrone I think it's called. Just got in from doing 7 numbers at a Jam Night. The bass was great. Sadly we were crap to be honest, never been worse. Drummer too loud, lacking any nuance and lead singer/guitarist missing his cues and trying to hard and his singing suffered. Timing was sh*te and we've a long way to go. I felt I played okay despite being surrounded be a cacophony Oh well it was a valuable experience. nerves played a huge part I think, although I felt fine.

Wow, not a cheap option. Do you have 12v FX too? Peter
-
Personally I'd invest in a 9v power pack Tisch. There are several ways to do it (at least 3 I can think of) I think a new PP is the easiest sol'n though.

Has anyone bought a Fender Road Worn bass yet?
Totally disagree with that! It's not rocket science - people want them, so there's a market, and they are more expensive to produce. To put it another way - some people grow out of 'new, shiny, shiny, new' at about age 3, and go for something with more character
Ahh, someone possibly sucked into the hype? So, I should have grown out of disliking 'relic'd basses at the age of 3. How very immature of me then Seriously, if you have a genuine 'Road Worn' (look at the hype in that name) bass that you've past experience with, been through a lot together, couldn't bear part with, then I understand completely because of the bonding that takes place during this process. Bonding with something genuine, used, something you know every nook and crevice of. But, take a new bass, rough it up a bit, charge more for it, where's the bonding process in that? Paying over the odds for damaged goods? Each to their own but don't expect me to agree when you say it makes any sense other than clever marketing. Apologies for the thread sabotage Rich. If they are as good as my P then I'd get one if I could justify the re-fin Peter -
Good news Si. Will you get a trade discount?

Is it only me that see's the irony here. Which basses have pretty much the poorest finish that wears through more readily than on other makes? So they make it a feature and charge more for it. Very clever Don't get me wrong I love my Fender, I'm not anti for the sake of it but really, we do get sucked into the hype don't we. -
I was one of them. I did mean to come but my evil wife made me go on holiday with her on the same day. I might bring her along to be excruciatingly bored. Ha ha.
She might be charmed by us all. Unlikely

I think it's very important to understand that wood is structurally complex and unique in terms of density, grain structure and grain orientation. One piece of wood will be significantly different from another, even from the same tree or an adjacent cut. In a bass if we take out the primary influence of the pickups and electrics, the type of construction and neck stiffness we then have a slightly noticeable (I would suggest) tonal variation in the individual blank used to construct the body. To suggest that, given the variable already inherent in the unique body wood, the thinning of some finish is an influence that makes a generic model 'better' than others in the range reeks to me of marketing hype. Maybe I got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning? Don't get me going on the whole aspect of making a bass look like something it isn't Peter -
Except they are not totally pointless. The worn and exposed wood and thin cellulose lacquer releases the true tone of the wood. They are surprising resonant and tonally pleasing.
I'm sorry but I think that is total BS True tone of the wood? It's not a violin No disrespect intended, just my ten penneth
