1. Thanks Russ. It's sort of a back burner sale to be honest. If it sells it does, if it doesn't... I'm okay with that Peter
2. I'm busy too mark I'm getting there late Fri and seeing my Mum for lunch on the Saturday hopefully with my daughter too. Hope to be meeting up with a BCer and getting a new amp sometime and may pop into BM on Sunday Morning on way North. I might end up in the Coast Inn on Sat eve for a pint and a bite. I don't know about Status I'm afraid. Many will though I suspect. Peter
3. Can't speak for the Gig Skinz but I am very pleased with my Mono. Why oh why have the Body Glove ones gone out of circulation? They are almost Mono quality and function at less than a third of the price
4. I'm visiting next w/e too. Maybe meet up if it fits in?
5.
Nice One Colchester is my home town too. I was born is Colchester, and raised in a village on the outskirts
I am a Mersea boy but of course I see Colchester as my 'town'. Now live in Kendal but still visit and consider home even though I haven't lived there for over 30 yrs Peter
6. When the opportunity arose to try a Status for a 2nd time I grabbed it and traded my Marcus Miller IV for a Status Empathy 5. I owned a Kingbass some years ago and ergonomically it was to be honest a disaster like no other. The Empathy is something quite different. It's about 15mm string spacing at the bridge but my 17mm Spectors have prepared me for this quite well. I've had an ambition to own a bass from my home town for a while and this one feels like it'll stick around. I'll take some photos some time. Well pleased. Signature to be amended yet again.
7. Here's wishing you all the best for your operation. To be honest I read the post expecting far worse. Yes it wasn't good by any means but it sounded like they were down to the basics that day in terms of staff. One of the problems with big multi faceted music shops is I suspect their diversity. They might have 2 relatively inexperienced staff on and one is a keyboard player and the other one does a bit on mandolin That's why I like shops like the bass merchant and bass direct. The bass cellar however
8.
Well...I'm smiling
You've been spending too much time with that baby Alan, it'll be wind
9. I spent a while negotiating with and finally doing a trade with Lee. He is an excellent chap to deal with and the whole thing was made all the more enjoyable by him being such a nice guy. He's also the font of all knowledge in that I learnt that the Makems have a football team Peter
10.
Traded my Status Empathy for Peter's Marcus Miller + cash. Peter is a true gentleman, and a great person to deal with. I absolutely love the Marcus Miller, and it is in mint condition. Great trade A+++
That's good news and thank you Lee. I'm loving my hometown bass too
11. Tetrachords rule! Great book sparks and good to deal with someone like yourself. Peter
12. I think subjective opinions are always interesting. Research shows that human decisions are almost always based on instinct, gut feeling and prejudices and we then gather evidence that tends to confirm our original decision and filter out evidence that doesn't. I'm not saying it's bad but that we all tend to do it unless we consciously stop ourselves. If Fender pickups are weak I think I got some double strength ones in my passive P
13.
And it was shocking... Absolutely awful bass. I love Fender Precision Basses but the new Fender AM P bass is terrible. The machine heads feel like theyre going to fall apart, the pickups are weak and the finish on the neck is awful. I know alot of people will disagree with me but i was really dissapointed with this bass. As said, it was pretty much brand new, had been purchased only a month before and setup professionally a few nights ago. It wasn't mine thank god, it was a mates who's band I was teching for. It's completely standard as he's made no modifications to it. Oh, and just to say, I also used a 1998 American Fender P Bass tonight (also his and also completely un-moddified) and it was a dream to play, again, pickups were a bit weak but the tuners felt like they would stay in tune and the finish on the neck was so much better. I really wanted a 2009 model, but I shall definately be looking for a pre 2000 model... Preferabley in white with a black scratchplate... and maple fretboard... And I think I may have just got a semi... OOOPS! =P But yeah, to round up, alot of people will probably disagree with me, but this is my opinion on them. Older Fender's are so much better than the new ones! Peace out! Stevie.D x
Stevie I've noticed over several posts that you really don't like the newer Fenders despite a lot of positive vibes. Interesting. I hope yours is a good un too Al Peter
14. It's been said already but these are truly great cabs, Dave is a complete star and he's being uber sensible with the price. The drivers have never actually been used, Dave only plays through the tweeters anyway
15. I'm really glad that you're feeling the Ric love Chris, get a good one and they really sing don't they.
16.
Are the Comfort Strapps the bouncy thngs?
I don't find them bouncy. They do have some stretch in the doubled elastic webbing stitched to the neoprene pad but I can't get any bounce, just the correct amount of 'shock absorption'. I did own an Overwater strap for a short while and it wasn't for me. That had a piece of elastic webbing on the front between the pad and the bass and the bass neck nodded up and down nicely. Very odd. Some folks swear by them, I just swore AT mine.
17. That's one beautiful bass and the price seems to be very reasonable. I'm glad it's not a 5er or I'd be selling my body to science. I may do that anyway, someone can have more fun with it that I have
18. I've ordered one of these: http://www.harvest-guitar.com/en/Cow-Marbl...tic-oxid-3.html I think that's the wrong photo as it's dark brown not black. Top right gives a better impressiom methinks, like the nice bags in colour. Dispatched from Holland today. it's calfskin I believe, just as well I'm a veggie then and not a vegan
19.
An actually I used to have one of these http://www.levysleathers.com/product;cat,1...itar-Straps-MS4 Was pretty nice but would prefer a non adjustable one cut to measure. TBH there isn't anything wrong with my comfort strapp but you know... I like 'accessories' ped
I'm exactly the same Ped. I have at least 4 Comfort Strapps, short for the Spectors and medium for everything else. I've just ordered a Harvest antique looking strap because 'I want and I can'. Not because I need it. It'll be a 'special' strap for the NS5. Price better than the US straps generally too. Not 4" wide but I suspect a 4" strap might dig into my neck anyway.
20. Time to move out?
21. If you leave it there and just add a new button it keeps the 'authentic' look and it's resale value. A new owner might actually like the neck dive
22. Whereabouts are you? Someone may be able to give it a look. Peter
