This really is a subject where a search will produce lots of recent comment. I'm surprised you haven't read it Chris. Yes, that are very good. It just goes to show that our souls dance to different rhythms. I found Nick Cave dire and plenty of funk in MM's Frankenstein more than in Edgars Winters version which was more 'rock'. I do like the Winter Bros too mind. The final MM vid was very meh by comparison.

My bro lived in Thorrington for many years. Mum is now in care in Clacton and her house has just sold in Mersea so it's partly sad news. I have a 'best mate' who lives there still so with visiting Mum I shall return. The other side of Essex

I've been going over a few songs and realising the usefulness of the mid switch. I love lots of(boost) low(est) mids for driving songs along but then when a more subtle one comes along a simple flick of a switch later - Voila! It's put my GAS for a streamline into orbit

Here's my Empathy, just a quick shot. I'm getting myself accustomed to 15mm spacing and taking it along to do a few numbers Tuesday night in the local
hehe!! I'm also from Colchester.........well...Brightlingsea, but again, consider Colchester as 'my town'. Big Colchester United fan too My parents still live there, so I get back every now and then, and always visit the Bass Merchant when I do. I really like the idea of owning a Status, home-town styley, will have to get around to trying one at a gig! Si
Brightlingsea, the home of the best chippys for many miles Isn't the world a small place (but I wouldn't want to paint it). Peter

I'm busy too mark I'm getting there late Fri and seeing my Mum for lunch on the Saturday hopefully with my daughter too. Hope to be meeting up with a BCer and getting a new amp sometime and may pop into BM on Sunday Morning on way North. I might end up in the Coast Inn on Sat eve for a pint and a bite. I don't know about Status I'm afraid. Many will though I suspect. Peter

Can't speak for the Gig Skinz but I am very pleased with my Mono. Why oh why have the Body Glove ones gone out of circulation? They are almost Mono quality and function at less than a third of the price
Nice One Colchester is my home town too. I was born is Colchester, and raised in a village on the outskirts
I am a Mersea boy but of course I see Colchester as my 'town'. Now live in Kendal but still visit and consider home even though I haven't lived there for over 30 yrs Peter

When the opportunity arose to try a Status for a 2nd time I grabbed it and traded my Marcus Miller IV for a Status Empathy 5. I owned a Kingbass some years ago and ergonomically it was to be honest a disaster like no other. The Empathy is something quite different. It's about 15mm string spacing at the bridge but my 17mm Spectors have prepared me for this quite well. I've had an ambition to own a bass from my home town for a while and this one feels like it'll stick around. I'll take some photos some time. Well pleased. Signature to be amended yet again.

Poor Customer Service Award - Andertons, Guildford
GreeneKing replied to Cat Burrito's topic in General Discussion
Here's wishing you all the best for your operation. To be honest I read the post expecting far worse. Yes it wasn't good by any means but it sounded like they were down to the basics that day in terms of staff. One of the problems with big multi faceted music shops is I suspect their diversity. They might have 2 relatively inexperienced staff on and one is a keyboard player and the other one does a bit on mandolin That's why I like shops like the bass merchant and bass direct. The bass cellar however -

I spent a while negotiating with and finally doing a trade with Lee. He is an excellent chap to deal with and the whole thing was made all the more enjoyable by him being such a nice guy. He's also the font of all knowledge in that I learnt that the Makems have a football team Peter
Traded my Status Empathy for Peter's Marcus Miller + cash. Peter is a true gentleman, and a great person to deal with. I absolutely love the Marcus Miller, and it is in mint condition. Great trade A+++
That's good news and thank you Lee. I'm loving my hometown bass too

I think subjective opinions are always interesting. Research shows that human decisions are almost always based on instinct, gut feeling and prejudices and we then gather evidence that tends to confirm our original decision and filter out evidence that doesn't. I'm not saying it's bad but that we all tend to do it unless we consciously stop ourselves. If Fender pickups are weak I think I got some double strength ones in my passive P -
And it was shocking... Absolutely awful bass. I love Fender Precision Basses but the new Fender AM P bass is terrible. The machine heads feel like theyre going to fall apart, the pickups are weak and the finish on the neck is awful. I know alot of people will disagree with me but i was really dissapointed with this bass. As said, it was pretty much brand new, had been purchased only a month before and setup professionally a few nights ago. It wasn't mine thank god, it was a mates who's band I was teching for. It's completely standard as he's made no modifications to it. Oh, and just to say, I also used a 1998 American Fender P Bass tonight (also his and also completely un-moddified) and it was a dream to play, again, pickups were a bit weak but the tuners felt like they would stay in tune and the finish on the neck was so much better. I really wanted a 2009 model, but I shall definately be looking for a pre 2000 model... Preferabley in white with a black scratchplate... and maple fretboard... And I think I may have just got a semi... OOOPS! =P But yeah, to round up, alot of people will probably disagree with me, but this is my opinion on them. Older Fender's are so much better than the new ones! Peace out! Stevie.D x
Stevie I've noticed over several posts that you really don't like the newer Fenders despite a lot of positive vibes. Interesting. I hope yours is a good un too Al Peter -
