1. I'm a Mersea (Island) boy myself, moved North nowadays
2. Not everyone's cuppa but I love mine. Where in Essex are you? If anyone's got a Line 6 XT Live model that fits let me know! Bump again
3. I find mine very lush, just right for some Nirvana.
4. http://www.garywillis.com/pages/bass/bassm...etupmanual.html May be useful
5. What I'd do is 1st try raising the E string saddle with an allen key a 1/4 turn on each side for a bit to see if the problem goes. If not you can lower it back where you started. If you fret at the 1st fret and the last, at the same time, how much gap is there under the string? Peter
6. It is a very stunning, interesting and workmanlike looking instrument.
7. A very beautiful and interesting Warwick. His final paragraph is interesting:
WHO AM I?:I am a white American and my wife is Japanese, my daughter is both. I really hate to say this but the only people who send me unsolicited emails calling me a slant-eyed scammer etc are Americans. The rest of the world seems to realize that their country is not the only place on Earth. Only half of my business is to the USA but ALL of these emails come from Americans. If you are one of these people I will just let you know now that you are an idiot and I will be happy to verbally put you in your place and display the correspondence in the Q&A for all to see. If you are stupid enough to think I am a scammer or a guitar is fake etc I can guarantee you I am MUCH MUCH more intelligent than you are! Thank you for reading this far and I sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, hope you are doing this BEFORE you commit to buy this. Sorry if you are reading this too late. If so you may be SOL but I tried as hard as I flippin' could to get you to read this BEFORE you committed!!
8. I'm bringing my Lakky BG with Villex pups and tone control so I'll be interested for a comparison too. Should be fun Peter
9. How about Audacity? It's free too. Peter
10. Is the action very low? If so you could try raising it. Also worth checking the neck relief as you may not have any? Peter
11. You could contact Alan at ACG basses, he is a Hipshot dealer. Peter
12. I've downloaded some really good sounds from the database for my 'Live' and tweaked quite a few with good results. I'm going to have a play this w/e. What's your username Ped, I'd like to steal some of your stuff Peter
13.
much better than Thomann's.
In my experience of Thomann that isn't physically possible. I've bought about 10 items from them over several years and returned an amp for repair and their service has always been pretty unbeatable bar naked delivery ladies or 500% refunds.
14. +1 on BB1500A quality being superior to the new BB's. I own a BB1500A courtesy of BB2000 (thanks) and have owned a BB615
15. The FCW one are very quick indeed. Brilliantly quick in fact. They're not huge but fitted and suit Fender: Photo to follow Peter
16. +1 for Flight Case Warehouse. Great to deal with too.
17. That's a sweet looking Ray. I suspect it'll go for more by the end so all the best. I've just ordered my 20th so I'm not even going there
18. How about some scotchbrite grey pad rubbed over the back and some Truoil gunstock finish. The Scotchbrite is like 00 wire wool but doesn't leave any bits.
19. Ouch, close. I feel for ya
20. I've nearly finished the neck and put the decals on today: The body has a way to go yet. 10 coats of tung oil with 24 hrs between coats takes it's time. I'm going to sand in the final 3 coats wet and allow 48 hrs between each. It's all looking great and may be ready for the NW bash?
21. I too am amazed this is still for sale!
22. That's really beautiful. Everytime I see a JayDee or Alembic in this style I get serious GAS. One day I'll have one but I may need to part with a bass, or 10 to do it Very nice indeedy!
23. The Thumper won't be passive but going through one of Alan's (ACG) new pre amps with a low pass filter and a treble boost. I think it may be the 1st of it's type i.e. P bass single pickup. So a bit of an experiment really. We'll see how it goes.
24. You're a fortunate guy to have such a lovely example of Robbie's work. Very distintive!
25. That's a very nice looking P you have there Alan. A Thumper arrived for me today for my new 'project'. Peter
