brilliant. So it’s pretty much last aside from speaker sim. 👍 out of interest why wouldn’t you run a compressor in there?
-
@Tech21NYC Can i enquire where the effects loop insert is? I know it’s on the side of the pedal but where in the schematic is it? cheers
-
Agree. It is only EQ at the end of the day but it’s a useful addition.

For Free DAW software can I recommend UA Luna. https://www.uaudio.com/luna.html Looks and feels a bit like Logic. Doesn't come with any plugins ( Millions of free plugins can be had online ) and is currently Mac only.

Yeah sure I'm all for that, but there's a ton of tonal variation on it so a built in pre set or someone else's tone as a starting point might be worth pursuing..

Couldn't find a thread on these ( apologies if there is one ) https://ashdownmusic.com/collections/rootmaster-evo-iii These look like a great halfway point between budget Class D and Full scale ABM. Speaker sim DI is a nice touch. Anyone tried one?

True, but the manual is useful for the character knob. I’ve not used it yet but I’m going to reset to the original 6 presets and start from there.

Always wanted one. any suggestions for settings? ✌️

A must for covering early AC⚡️DC. ✌️

I think you need to treat it like an amp and effects setup. Imagine you have an amp and some effects pedals. firstly ignore the demo patches. pick an amp. That’s your amp for all of your patches! One of the big issues people have is massive sonic changes between patches and this is because every patch has a different amp and cab setup. Why? Once you have your amp, insert an effect and set it up to get a good sound. Repeat until you’re done.

Is anyone aware that the Orange Bass Butler has an effects insert on the distortion channel?
-
Thanks for that. Seems far more flexible than the later models.
-
for example a shelved EQ where you can control the frequency with the pedal. So you start with just hearing the sub bass and slowly bring the rest of the frequency range in. Or controlling the drive / gain on a distortion patch

apologies maybe I didn’t explain very well. How many effects have parameters that can be controlled with an external expression pedal? Looking at the manual, it’s only 5. They are listed separately at the end of the effects list. I was thinking you would be able to control drive / EQ / filter parameters as well as the usual Wah / volume effects.

Hi. Quick question for those who use an external expression pedal. Looking at the official effects list on Zoom website it seems you can only control 5 patches with an external expression pedal. This seems really limited to me. Am I understanding this correctly or am I missing something? thank you

As I understand it yes that’s the idea.

The neck is indeed great. Only messed about with it but it feels great to play. Thanks for the tip on the pick guard. It has a coil tap installed which is a common upgrade I believe.

I think the ABM is an all time classic bass amp. I love mine. The warmth and growl can’t be bettered in my opinion.

I swapped out the stock tone and volume for an EMG HZ that matches the pickups. And removed the scratch plate. Fender high mass bridge. 👍

For the love of EHX Black Finger (the dual tube version)!

I used one for years on the bass and loved it. Great if you like a bit of tube drive with your compression. It's an analogue tube circuitry so its not super clean and quiet, but its a great piece of kit..- 8 replies

Had exactly the same conversation with Dave. I sent him my leads when I sent an amp for a service after it had cut out a couple of times. He checked all the leads and confirmed the connectors weren't fake Speakon ( apparently that's a thing ).. Great service as you say..
