  1. Does anyone run a simple set-up anymore? I'm seeing bass players these days with crazy pedalboards in front of them. The only pedal I have is a Polytune. What happened to bass, lead, amp?
  2. I'd pay good money for a strap any day - buy the correct one and it will last you a lifetime.
  3. Didn't realise you were into Beyonce, @leschirons
  4. The best bit is the TB rejects who are banned, come over here and start repeating the same spiel.
  5. Have nothing but good words for Peach - one of the best music stores in the UK.
  6. Simple case in point is to compare directly to the competition. Bass Bros website has always been easy to use and up to date.
  7. I've said it before but I believe the 40th anniversary basses will become the 'new' JV series.
  8. Steel strings, mid-low action, low gain overdrive, play harder.
  9. Loads of bands exist with two bass players but for some reason, one of them is called 'rhythm guitar'.
  10. How it plays and sounds is more important than how it looks. If it looks good then that's a bonus.
  11. I love gigging and playing live. It's one of the reasons I took up music in the first place.
  12. I've found many good musicians through JMB. Asking for examples of playing and their band/gigging experience before meeting them is a must. If you don't do this then you're asking for trouble.
  13. I was using a Status Energy in my metal band 15 years ago and that did the job nicely.
  14. Squier 40th Anniversary P owner here. Once again, nothing but glowing remarks about these basses, absolutely love mine. Easily beats any MIA Fender I've played in recent memory.
  15. Someone shows interest in an item I listed for sale - the horror!
  16. Every city has it's good and bad points.

  18. I have been using DR strings since 2012 and have always struggled to buy them in the UK, at least for a fair price. Before the B word, I used to order DR strings via eBay and could sometimes get them as cheap as £18 delivered. Those days are long gone... now it's closer to £35/40. UK retailers are selling anywhere between £30-£40. If you use DR, where do you buy them from? In the States, they're still around £20 delivered, yet nearly double that here.
  19. Seriously underrated basses these... replace the pups and tuners and you have a bass that can take on anything over £1k.
  20. TGI Extreme for rehearsal, Hiscox for gigs.
