Distortion
+1 But the distortion side has a mid scoop to it which may mean it will get lost in the mix
Suppose it depends how you have the EQ set, but then distorted bass always seems to go AWOL in the mix, solution usually to boost the level slightly when using it.

Distortion

The MXR M-80 is very versatile as it has EQ / Blend & Distortion Good pedal when used in moderation
4. I was on the Glam band wagon in the 80's ( it was acceptable in the 80's ) in a band called Napalm Hearts our manager was a guy called Tony Smith (he was also Wrathchilds mgr at the time) . . . . He went on to be Metallica's Tour manager for about 10 years !
5. Surprised this is still here, a couple of months ago I would have taken your arm off at the ankle ! But now Ive got one ! Anyone who has a Ric NEEDS to have one of these, your Ric will be fully in tune probably for the first time, its more comfortable to play and you can palm mute too and it look superb ! BUT IT NOW
6. Heres a new 'Bass Only' album to be released by bassist Markus Grosskopf It also includes Billy Sheehan, Rudy Sarzo to name but two Apparently he had the dream of recording a Metal album with only Bass and NO guitars at all ! Heres a link to the details : BASS INVADERS MySpace Should be interesting . . . .
7. Out of interest and probably of use to others What cab is it actually made for ? Might help shift it !
8. I've got a Fender USA series Precision Bass (the one with the useless S1 Switching) The output from the D & G strings is considerably lower than the output from the E & A strings I'm going to try lowering the pup under the E & A and raise the t'uther to try and even it out I've had this bass a couple of years and not noticed this until I installed a Badass III bridge So . . Is there a way of checking if both halfs of the split pick-up are working correctly ? Cheers for you help Ade
9. It will also have an effect on used prices too and probably drive them through the roof !

Rickenbackers

I've got a USA Fender Precision and its great BUT When I open the case to my Rickenbacker its special every time great to play, sounds superb and looks amazing especially now i've fitted a Hipshot bridge !
12. Love it ! But then I play a P-Bass and a Ric with a pick !
13. The first bass I 'tried' to play was a Fender Precision owned by my nextdoor neighbour call Gary McManus (went on to be the 2nd bassist in the Specials (AKA era) !) So I got a Kay SG with flats on it through a WEM 15 watt combo, moved on to a Cimar P/J nice bass about a year later
14. As everyone else has said you must give a Ric a good bashing before you go for it I've got a 4003 and a Fender P and find myself swaying between the two YES the Ric is the coolest bass in the world BUT the neck and sound wont suit everyone also the lack of body contour can be quite uncomfortable on the right forearm
15. Lozbass is right get as much info as possible and as long as your happy & confident that the repair has been done to a high standard and that the rod functions correctly . . . Then haggle HARD and go for it !
16. I sing on about 50% of our songs with all 4 members contributing to backing vocals We always try and reproduce the harmonies on each cover song. Great fun, but can be a bit like rubbing your tummy and patting your head !
17. I'd expect to pay around £350 for a used 210HF I got a used 410HF for £450 Ade
18. All appear to be metal boxed, probably plastic though in an Electro Harmonix stylee Amazing prices might just give the Vintage Tube OD a try ! VINTAGE TUBE OVERDRIVE - £33 VINTAGE TUBE MONSTER - £45 VINTAGE DISTORTION - £23 Still not sure how they get away with it !
