  1. There's two kinds of guitarists. Most can't play bass very well, but some can, pretty rare ime.
  2. It won't be hard to match the output level of the helix and input level of the amp to something the amp will accept as if it was a guitar. If you can get the amp with the guitar plugged in direct to sound 'Plain Jane' there won't be a problem getting the Helix to do the rest.
  3. It's really hard to gauge other people's volume satisfaction requirements relative to our own. I can gig to a pretty rowdy party level where conversation is still possible at the back of the hall with the 160w into 210, drummer being the sensitive type and similar guitarist using a Tiny Terror 12W amp. I doubt the combo by itself will cover too many full room situations. Much more useful as a monitor rig. Adding an extension cab is a different story. You could do the 110 or the 208.
  4. Most basses are some variant of P, J, PJ, and Stingray single humbucker. Having been messed around by noise from single coil pickups I favour humbuckers. My mainstay is twin humbuckers that can be switched to single coils. It has a dip switch for the neck that emulates the best of the J snarl, one pickup turned down a little, but with extra fat from the humbuckers, so single coil setting doesn't get a look in.
  5. It's only a rumor in the US. In UK it's a cold hard rumour.
  6. So you made yourself the leader? Sorta, kinda, not really? Band meeting time.
  7. It sounds like you got the amp to use as a power amp for your cab, but you also want to use the amp's DI. Otherwise the question doesn't really make sense. If there's a 'pre/post' button for the DI then you want 'post'. Plug in and play.
  8. The value in modeling is twofold. The sound comes out of a DI ready wrapped for FOH to put on show. There's a bazillion rigs in one box.
  9. What Al could do with his current gear.
  10. This is the point of FRFR cabinets. Provided you aren't stuffed on a stage with a hollow booming floor or a 10ft reflecting ceiling your customary preamp settings work very well for you, then it's down to the FOH to have their kaka together with the PA eq'd to the room.
  11. https://www.bassgearmag.com/cab-lab-barefaced-audio-fr800/ pretty much the same BB2 cabinet but with power amp. Pretty gosh durned flat response.
  12. Exactly. Milly Cyrus isn't so different to Mick Jagger.
  13. I lament the lost art of the paragraph. Pop music changes styles over the decades. Yup.
  14. Your BF cab is pretty much FRFR ( full range flat response ) so you're halfway there. You could use it in the PA and go IEM with a pretty good idea of what will come out the front already.
  15. @agedhorse Might do the trick.
  16. Needs some vowels to catch on.
  17. I call that 'stage bass carrying the room'. Need a proper word for it.
  18. There's a bit more to it than changing bulbs as the LED are itty bitty things surface mounted to fancy circuit board which most home hacks will turn into a pile of scrap. Find the UK service agent.
  19. Traditionally 'backline' is the monitoring when you have FOH. A lot of backline in use is more suited to festival stages outdoors, being fully loud enough to be way too loud, and directional indoors. Trying to mic it up for FOH winds up a fool's errand.
  20. Nice one! I had no idea there was a reason those twin sheaths are staggered in the strip back. Every day a school day.
  21. Talkbass basses for sale has filters for 4 and 5+ strings as well as lefty. I think the search will find all semi-acoustic electro-acoustic just with searching on acoustic. There's always the Wanted section but afaik it's still unbumpable, except for moderators.
  22. That's some pretty exotic tapping. I now have precisely no idea what's problematic. Do over time. If you play it and report which notes have buzz maybe all will become clear.
  23. I think your upper might be everyone else's lower???
  24. Worth it to who? It works for a couple or three generations of GK users and others with that architecture. Not my first choice.
