  1. Do you know if the neck is drop-in Fender fit?
  2. I suspect that day was the day after the gig
  3. More than a neutron star 👍
  4. Too many underfoot hazards in most rehearsal spaces and venues for me to do that
  5. Post Of The Year 👍
  6. These days less than they’re asking 😕
  7. This Plus the oldest eBay rule of all…. NEVER BUY FROM A SELLER WHO WRITES IN CAPS But yes, those screws 🤔
  8. No we're Royal Blood and this is rick music....
  9. As has been mentioned before, past basses and past girlfriends have a lot in common
  10. Same seller different outlets. Different culture in Japan, but you're generally safe buying there. However, I'd have thought you'd get that (not especially rare) bass quicker and cheaper either by waiting for it on eBay.co.uk or by posting a wanted ad here
  11. This 100%, recognise the extraordinary privilege that far from being the result of talent - lots of people are far more talented - or hard work - lots of people work harder - or 'sacrifice" (you're flucking joking me) - is simply the result in 99% of cases of luck, and get out there, be a pro, and give the audience what they've paid for. If they don't like you, grow some and win them over rather than resorting to the standard 2020s model of whinge. I did a single gig with a semi pro band (whatever the fukc that actually means), the singer of which threw a major hissy fit mid-gig because people in the 'crowd' (about 40 people in a stinky poo pub in Surrey) were talking during the set and still see it as my musical low point, the guilt of association etc (BTW this 'semi-pro singer had arrived at the gig without his mic case so had to borrow the SM-58 that i carry in my kit bag just to make it through the gig in the first place, and had the lyrics on a printed sheet in his hand. Complete prick). The sense of entitlement that oozes from so many musicians today amazes me.
  12. Yep, my unwritten rule for how a bass should feel and play is "Like a Wal, but not a Wal", and you can only come to that place by having owned and played (a lot) one or more Wals 👍
  13. That's a special bass 👍
  14. All things considered I've never regretted letting a bass or amplification go, as what I have now is probably as good as I could ever need. My dabbling with some seriously nice basses from Wal, Sadowsky, Musicman, Fender Custom Shop, Rickenbacker, Status, etc, and equally good amps by Mesa, Ampeg, Aguilar, Phil Jones, Musicman etc has allowed me to calibrate very precisely the sweet spot between what I like and what I don't like and what I need and what I don't need. I now have two very different electric basses (one fretted one fretless), two very different double basses (one wood, one aluminium), and two very different rigs (one very rude Californian and one very polite Scandinavian). Do I miss all the other gear? Not really. Do I regret selling any of it? Possibly on a financial and an ego basis, but certainly not in terms of instrumental value no 👍
  15. So is "Damn I wish I'd bought it when I had the chance" remorse 👍
  16. Bit of a thread resurrection here, but this came up again the other day, and I realised that the files downloaded locally are in fact the same (rather poor) quality as the files downloaded from the Zencastr website. Our tech guy is looking at Loopback today as we're about to start a wave of remote interviews and it may enable us to record both centrally to Zencastr and locally to the speaker's hard drive at the same time, which I would much prefer (i.e., asking people to send me the locally stored file with the Zencastr file as backup only), but any suggestions for better platforms than Zencastr also welcome.
  17. Oh dear, band suicide, a singer hissy fit live on the internet
  18. Was just wondering why/how he has gone unstopped for so long, and realised that perhaps the clue's in the surname 🤔 And with reference to this, and all joking aside @hiram.k.hackenbacker advice, and especially 'alleged' needs to be noted. Anyone attempting to take the law into their own hands is, ironically I know, breaking the law and potentially far more serious laws than Mason has broken to date. This guy hasn't been nicked because he's probably got all sorts of alibis/excuses/mitigations (and potentially a few friends in other places.....), a mob showing up on Saturday - one that are clearly the protagonists with an internet site clearly publicising their intention - gives the Police little choice and sufficient evidence. He might even contact the Police and tell them that you are making threats with reference to a specific time and place anyway, he will know the inside-outs of the law in these situations quite well I expect, and it appears he really is that slippery. And of course, he might have more mates with him than you can take with you, and he will no doubt be filming the whole thing to prove his innocence. There really are cleverer ways of getting this guy 🤔
  19. That’s not BC, that’s just human nature 👍

    In Memoriam

I know, I see it at the top of 'Unread Content' and I have a huge sinking feeling. We lost a member a few years back who although I'd never met in person I'd spoken to on the phone many times, and I sat absolutely stunned when I read it, and it seemed so odd given I didn't even know what he looked like. I guess one of the downsides of the huge number of people you meet via the internet compared to the old days of only knowing the people who lived in your street
  21. Beautiful instruments, well worth that money by a long shot. I used to gig mine when a DB was either too big or just not right for the band, and it can do DB better than most, surprisingly good for - dare I say it - slap
  22. That would be glorious, as you say he plays the part well. Turner plus a possible Oscar 👍
  23. Beautiful ensemble playing but, given they are a Beatles tribute act, do they really need the charts ?
