That's my impression, aside from a few discussions as to the merits/faults of the design and process, I don't recall anyone discussing ownership (and the reality here is that if someone owns a bass there's a good chance that same person will - at some stage - sell that bass, and I've not seen one for sale either)

There is a visceral response to high SPLs and the lower the frequency the greater the response, so yes, big bass cabs on stage have a real effect. But I doubt there's any longer a case for saying you can't get the same tone via other means, both sides of the equation - signal processing and amplification - have just moved on so much. And that's ignoring the negative effects of high SPLs

Large cabs are getting like pianos which you petty much can't give them away. Audio technology has moved on a hell of a lot and most gigging bassists without roadies just don't need the hassle of large cabs. Good time to buy one
