  1. Is it possible to do the foot on the monitor thing with a multi scale 5 string?
  2. I was forced to endure their set at Glastonbury and now I dislike them even more than before
  3. That's a coincidence you were on your way as you read that post. Apparently putting yoghurt on the infected area can help. A friend said not to use a crunch corner though
  4. I will not play Status Quo. There's a line and that crosses it.
  5. I that's pretty much the same dimensions as the Orange 410 so I don't think I'd be any better off with it.
  6. Thanks. I'll get a set list and see what I could be getting in to.
  7. I've been asked whether I'll stand in for a local classic rock covers band for a few gigs. I generally play doom and stoner metal so have no idea how difficult it would be to learn an hour and a half of standard classic rock. Is it generally easy root note plodding or does it tend to be quite complex? I've just never really listened to this sort of stuff but I know they're a decent bunch so it could be fun
  8. Everything from Ashdown has a VU meter.
  9. I just spotted some absolute bargains on the Ashdown website. Worth checking out if you're looking for a new amp https://ashdownmusic.com/collections/last-chance?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0rBgZMhbe3PLWJSDkH23n-iUwYZ0os8BokUZQ5YMlYTvHtroRbH_k2s6Q_aem_AUxJWX58K5vLl_7e3zNEl__cqs9pd-mJaHcYAYubEn_xr3jnVoGT5lPtAMgg5dgoVG_4myReh1WmGQGKym-NHjzz
  10. I played in a doom band, all our songs were miserable (except the one about alien lizard people). It goes down great for the right audience. Alice In Chains will go down well in any metal/rock gig.
  11. Not bass specific but some interesting insights in to the music industry. Two Promoters, One Pod Presented by the promoters from Arctangent/200 Trees and Damnation festivals. Although they're metal/rock festivals, a lot of what they talk about applies to all types of music festivals and the industry in general. Lots of interesting stories from their years in the industry, probably a few they should have kept to themselves! The riders episode was particularly good, they talk about the good, bad, weird and confusing. https://youtu.be/F1x7JIKj_uw?si=Gaao9OqEMJPcgGdp
  12. They actually have three words for fluffy depending on the context
  13. I've worked for a German engineering company. Stereotypes about German efficiency and quality are all wrong. They do have a sense of humour as well
  14. Last night was Mondo Generator at Cobblestones in Bridgestone. The band are fronted by ex Kyuss & QOTSA bassist Nick Oliveri and have been around since before QOTSA. The two support bands, Nomad Lizard and Kadabra were awesome. Kadabra's bassist is my new hero, serious amounts of groove and awesome moves. Mondo Generator were just awesome, mostly their own stuff but with a few of Nicks songs from QOTSA and Kyuss. It was really cool to see someone I've seen play stadiums and arenas play in a small pub and hanging out with the punters.
  15. Is a Fender or Gibson or Music Man really worth three or four times more than an often better made Ibanez or something else which often sounds as good? My Ibanez SRMS805 is the nicest made bass I've owned, it has a huge tonal range and it plays really nicely but cost £900 new and I picked it up used for half that in as new condition. I'd happily pay more for one of these than another Fender.
  16. Touch me I'm sick - Mudhoney
  17. Tuesday night, Mondo Generator supported by Nomad Lizard at Cobblestones in Bridgwater. I'm excited for this one
  18. My daughter is dyslexic and knows the notes on her fret board. I am not dyslexic and don't know them. My excuse is I use so many different tunings they're always in different places. It's rarely a problem.
  19. Definitely some FNM in there. The quiet, jazzy breaks in between heaviness is very FNM
  20. I've found my challenge for now. Mother Sky by Twelve Foot Ninja I come across this while looking up Strapping Young Lad songs as recommended by @BreadBin Sometimes youtubes recommendations hit the spot.
  21. I have a particular dislike for that term. What makes something "real music"? What music is not real music? Is it a real thing or just snobbery? Metal fans are particularly guilty of this sort of thing, arguing over what's real and what isn't.
  22. This was the song I'd previously heard her on. Just disgraceful. Like they tried to create the most stereotypical pop punk song with the worst lyrics. I've no idea why Travis Barker agreed to play on it.
  23. Well that's a change for the last disgrace of a song I heard her on. Emo Girl by Machine Gun Kelly. Look it up, it's as far from this as it gets.
  24. Going blind - Melvins
