  1. Lemmy getting ditched by Hawkwind. If that hadn't happened, Motorhead wouldn't have formed and Lemmy wouldn't have achieved metal god status and Hawkwinds latest bassist wouldn't have bought my Thunderbird vintage pro which I wish I'd kept
  2. I was owed a favour by a mate who makes banners for a living. I wasn't going to call in the favour but he insisted so now we have a 2m square, plastic coated canvas banner. It looks great but weighs a ton. I've no idea how I'll support the bugger
  3. Afternoon Delight - Starline Vocal Band
  4. I used to be in a band with a guitarist who went on about the tonal effects of all sorts of stuff including paint. You can really hear minute tone the differences through his fuzz, reverb, wah and overdriven valve amp.
  5. Bugger I did and you did. I forgot all about that. Thanks a lot for the info
  6. We're a new metal band and we're ready to go out and play some gigs. We've got a solid 35 minute set, should be 45 minutes soon so support shows would best suit us for now. How do we go about getting gigs? None of us have ever been in a new originals band before. Do we need to be talking to bands, promotors or venues or all of them?
  7. I watched the Nova Twins performance today. Never heard them before. They're really good, plenty of energy and a good amount of aggression and a solid, original sound
  8. Black hole sun - Soundgarden Has there ever been a more obvious one?
  9. Not getting shot, stabbed or murdered in any way.
  10. Maniac from flashdance but a stoner metal version. I love the reactions as people start to recognise it and then realise exactly what it is.
  11. It was Palm Desert, California. Not palm springs. My mistake. Kyuss formed in this scene and when Kyuss split, Josh went on to form QOTSA
  12. If everyone had the same musical taste then we would all just listen to Michael Buble and that's not a world I want to live in. Frank Sinatra once used his mafia connections to get live rock music banned in Palm Springs because he didn't like it. That forced the local kids to go out to the desert with generators and make music which is where stoner metal started and eventually led to Queens Of The Stone Age. So I guess maybe banning what you don't like is good? I don't know now, I've forgotten where I was going with this.
  13. Wasn't most of Elton's music created decades ago? And since that was his last show, its not being performed any more.
