1. Black metal (no not satanic rock) 19" wide rack trays (365mm deep) 1U high with a pair of rackmount holes on each side. I have 3 available, they are probably £15 a piece new but to save haggling I'll take £15 for the 3 or £7 each +Postage. These are predrilled with 4 small holes to accept receivers but easily drilled to accept a variety of non-standard rackmount equipment; I had a 4th one that I drilled to accept the amp section from a combo in order that I could put it in a rackcase, worked a treat.
2. MM's signature set (45 - 105), brand new in packaging, never fitted to a bass (no shrinkwrap outer cover though). Bought these on the spur of the moment as I didn't have any of my usual DR Sunbeams but I then realised that they were steels NOT nickels and I don't like the feel of steels! £20 (decent saving on shop price £30) or will swap for a similarly new/unused set of flats or Sunbeams. Sold and gone!
3. I've shipped cabs with Interparcel but I'd double check on the maximum weight (normally around £15 if you don't need extra insurance). I recall shipping a Tecamp Neo 6x10 and it was about £40 due to the extra insurance.
4.
Looks nice. http://www.fmraudio.com/rnp.htm
So the OP title says FNR but it's actually FMR... it gets worse!
5. I had to Google that to understand what is for sale and I'd just like to say that FNR want shooting for naming this product thus!
6.
Why not go the whole hog and have a precision modded to be a Jazz (Like Wille Weeks'/Clarky's Alleva)? Jazz bass sound with precision ergonomics. Problem solved. It's a step better than the PJ idea for me - PJ doesn't do the 'role-off-1-pickup-slightly' sound due to the mismatch in the pickup types.
I've owned a couple PJ Precision basses and I think my next modded bass may well be a JJ Precision bass... in fact the skeleton bass is on its way to me as we speak. Just need to find a Bartolini PJ set (I need the PJ to compliment the Bart PJ set I already have as the pair of P pups are going into a Warwick).
7.
Hiya, I've got some pyramid gold flats I'm not using - I'm up for a swap if you fancy. Not sure I have a use for the la bella's immediately but maybe more long term I will. Jas
Are they new and previously unfitted Jas?
8. P/J or P/P
9. Brand new set of unused La Bella's which I'd like to trade/swap for a set of chrome or nickel flat wound strings; Pyramid Golds would be good and pref in 40-100 gauge... long shot but worth a try.
10.
Hey ya mate! Thanks so much for posting a pic, It looks like this tray will be too deep for me specifically at 365mm. I can go to 300mm max - but I guess someone with a full depth rack case will be fine with. Again, cheers, I appreciate it - but I think Bottle's tray will be right for my gear.
No worries... time to stick them up for sale any way!
11. I had an Ex-Factor when they were fairly new basses and IIRC I specifically bought heavy gauge strings and that I ensured that the strings didn't have a stepped taper that started just after the nut... the Ex-Factor has a shorter scale on the A/D/G strings and is it standard or slightly longer on the E? You've got me thinking now!
12. Dust comes free!
13. Standard rackmount width, 1U high, 2 rackmount holes each side 365mm deep. It has a small lip at the front and at the rear of the base (manufactured like that) and has had 4 small holes drilled into it to hold a pair of receivers.
14. Simple observation on my part re. your mate putting the bass on eBay. If it sells with only the opening bid of £700, your mate will nett £700 minus fees (ebay final value + potential paypal fees), which equates to about £635... are you sure that's what he wants? If so it might be worth offering it on here for a bit less. In fact even if he gets his BIN price, he'll still get about £830! Just an observation and fyi no I'm not trying to knock the price down in order to buy it; it's far too new for me.
15. I've been impressed with the Hartke amps that I've tried but the cabs were a bit underwhelming when I tried them many moons ago... accidently put the top end of a bi-amp signal through the 1x15 and the bottom end through the 4x10 and that improved the sound!
16. £5 + postage and I'll get a pic if it is of any interest... though I would imagine a free tray is obviously top contender at the moment.
17. Really like that... other than the miserable mouth!
18.
Am I not supposed to advertise sales on this forum? Don't want to step on any toes; is there a forum I can advertise on?
I think it was intended to inform that there is an actual 'sale' section of the forum, which you use instead of this part of the forum which is just about basses in general.
19.
It has some wear and tear, specifically to the finish at the back of the headstock...
That has to be the strangest place to have wear that is significant enough to warrant mentioning!
20. I have 3 of those metal rack trays if any RH450 owners are interested; not looking for a massive amount for them. I did a very similar thing to rackmount the head unit from a H&K bassbase combo, if you don't trust your ability to mark and drill the holes accurately you simply get a handful of large washers and you can get them to fit!
21.
As thats being done by members on here everyday I'm surprised that wasnt your first thoughts on this quest for nirvana..... I've even been harbouring a plan to do that to a PRS (as you now know), so thats an area that is much easier to achieve. Do you know what the missing % of you tone is tho' ? or is it something that isnt quite right? The 'isnt quite right' option is a right bugger to find.
'isnt quite right' and that elusive missing something which is an unquantifiable amount is precisiely why I posed the question of living with something not quite right.
22.
I've got admit I'm a little baffled by all this. All speaker's impedance varies with frequency, which is why they're given a nominal impedance rating. The figure usually given is the lowest impedance that the speaker will see in it's designed operating range. So if the TC speakers are nominally rated at 8 ohms and the RH only runs into a minimum load of 4 ohms, it suggests they're not quoting the minimum impedance the speaker can drop to for the amp to be able to handle 3 '8 ohm' speakers. Or maybe the amp is filtering lower frequencies or something. Anyone got a take on what's going on here?
TBH I think you've just about summed it up Musky; TC are either being a bit loose with their 'nominal' impedance ratings or they are happy to let the amp run a bit hot if it is running below 4 ohms. It could be argued that ANY 8 ohm speaker is a best fit figure across the frequency range in which case running any three 8 ohm cabs might be OK so long as you watch that the amp doesn't run too hot. At the end of the day how many of us pump out 1/16th notes on the low B string all night long in which case yes I suppose it is OK to run x3 8 ohm cabs! I know that some Thunderfunk 550B owners have run their amp with x3 8 ohm cabs and the TF is rated to 4 ohms but it is very much a case of 'owner beware' and if you are sensible and ensure you aren't driving them too hard then it'll be fine... just not recommended or warranted by the manufacturer.
23. I've not really been a fan of maple boards but that does look pretty classy, especially with the new gold hardware... shame I don't do 5 stringers.
24.
Personally, playability trumps tone. If it doesn't sound right, I'll wiggle the knobs until it does. If it doesn't play right, I'll sell it and buy something else. I will not keep a bass which I find inadequate on the playability front (I won't buy it in the first place if I can try it out, but with buying basses over the interweb, that's not always possible).
That's pretty much where I am coming from and even though the basses I've retained over the years have the sound that I like and 'feel' right for me, I'm still looking to get that last couple of % to reach sonic nirvana! However, do I compromise on that playability/feel to get a fractionally better tone especially when you consider that it is 'my' definition of good tone that I am looking to improve and for all I know absolutely no-one in the room may agree that the tone I have searched for is to their taste. In summary; I'm likely going to replace the electronics in one of my basses in order to tweak a bit of tone from it, as the playability is superior to anything else that I own.
25.
GHS precision flatwound strings have purple wraps.
Thanks for the info, I do recall that in this instance it was a PG set of strings that I installed. However, it's always good for reference if anyone is searching Basschat in the future.
