I've shipped cabs with Interparcel but I'd double check on the maximum weight (normally around £15 if you don't need extra insurance). I recall shipping a Tecamp Neo 6x10 and it was about £40 due to the extra insurance.

Just need to find a Bartolini PJ set (I need the PJ to compliment the Bart PJ set I already have as the pair of P pups are going into a Warwick).

I had an Ex-Factor when they were fairly new basses and IIRC I specifically bought heavy gauge strings and that I ensured that the strings didn't have a stepped taper that started just after the nut... the Ex-Factor has a shorter scale on the A/D/G strings and is it standard or slightly longer on the E? You've got me thinking now!

Standard rackmount width, 1U high, 2 rackmount holes each side 365mm deep. It has a small lip at the front and at the rear of the base (manufactured like that) and has had 4 small holes drilled into it to hold a pair of receivers.

I've been impressed with the Hartke amps that I've tried but the cabs were a bit underwhelming when I tried them many moons ago... accidently put the top end of a bi-amp signal through the 1x15 and the bottom end through the 4x10 and that improved the sound!

£5 + postage and I'll get a pic if it is of any interest... though I would imagine a free tray is obviously top contender at the moment.

Really like that... other than the miserable mouth!

I have 3 of those metal rack trays if any RH450 owners are interested; not looking for a massive amount for them. I did a very similar thing to rackmount the head unit from a H&K bassbase combo, if you don't trust your ability to mark and drill the holes accurately you simply get a handful of large washers and you can get them to fit!

Anyone got a take on what's going on here?[/quote] TBH I think you've just about summed it up Musky; TC are either being a bit loose with their 'nominal' impedance ratings or they are happy to let the amp run a bit hot if it is running below 4 ohms. It could be argued that ANY 8 ohm speaker is a best fit figure across the frequency range in which case running any three 8 ohm cabs [u]might[/u] be OK so long as you watch that the amp doesn't run too hot. At the end of the day how many of us pump out 1/16th notes on the low B string all night long in which case yes I suppose it is OK to run x3 8 ohm cabs! I know that some Thunderfunk 550B owners have run their amp with x3 8 ohm cabs and the TF is rated to 4 ohms but it is very much a case of 'owner beware' and if you are sensible and ensure you aren't driving them too hard then it'll be fine... just not recommended or warranted by the manufacturer.

However, do I compromise on that playability/feel to get a fractionally better tone especially when you consider that it is 'my' definition of good tone that I am looking to improve and for all I know absolutely no-one in the room may agree that the tone I have searched for is to their taste. In summary; I'm likely going to replace the electronics in one of my basses in order to tweak a bit of tone from it, as the playability is superior to anything else that I own.
