1. Just for the record (I know this is an old thread) they could possibly be LaBella 'Jamersons'. The blue of the silk looks to be the same colour and ball is also the same a s pic'd... brassy looking. However, the Jamersons have VERY high tension so that is a dead give-away. If they are not high tension they are not Jamersons.
2. So is your average bar band PA system mono then? As far as I can tell what is being said is that if I use channel/amp A for the audience speakers and channel/amp B for monitors for the band the whole thing will be mono, right?
3. Thanks guys, much appreciated! One more quick question if I may... On the poweramp there is only one input per channel. My mixer has both a Left and Right output. Do I have to use both the left AND right outputs to get stereo? Or if I use just one of them is that mono? I assume to use both the right and left output I'd have to use a "Y" cable or something so that I could integrate both the Left and Right output into the poweramp's single input. Correct? Thanks again for the help.
4. Hey Guys I have a peavey dpc 1000 power amp. I want to use it combined with a mixer to use as a PA amp. My band has a private party coming up and I need to get this thing setup so we can use it for that party. I have a pdf of the manual but I just want to be sure I understand the power amp's impedence specs so I dont fry anything. As far as I understand it is saying I can run two 4 ohm loads with the peavey dpc 1000. One 4 ohm load for channel/amp "A" and one 4 ohm load for channel/amp "B". This would mean I could use two 8 ohm monitors for each side or each channel/amp. Correct? Here's a pic of the spec sheet:
5. Just wanted to get back to you guys and say that I did go through with the Compact purchase and I am quite pleased. I took a bit of a gamble ordering it as I live in Vancouver, Canada so the price was significant. However, I have no regrets. I have owned numerous cabs and I have found that usually portability comes at a cost. I used quite a few schroeders (1212r, 1210r, 1515L, 1212bmf and others) and felt I was always compromising my tone for portability. Not so with the Compact! And its even easier, more portable to move than the schroes. The amps I currently have that I have used with the Compact include the LMII, GK mb500 and markbass cmd121p 112 combo. They all sound good, but I like the tone of the LMII best. The mb500 is seemingly somewhat louder at 350w at 8 ohms. From my experiences the LMII compresses at 8 ohms when pushed. However, when adding the tech 21 VT Bass this rig just sounds amazing. Full and round yet still punchy. My main rig now is the markbass cmd121p + vt bass + Compact and I get lots of volume. Its also very portable as I have just two units to carry (I stick all cables, pedals in the back of the markbass cmd121p). Also, I love the height I get when I add the markbass cmd121p. The markbass cmd121p does have its limitations but these two cabs together is all the volume I'll ever need. For super loud gigs where I have no PA support and have to fill the dance floor with bass, I will use the Compact with my LDS 15/6 and I am sure that will be quite good. My only wish now is that Eminence would make a 4 ohm 3015HO driver... although I guess that would mean I couldnt use the markbass cmd121p with it.
6. I currently have the MB500 and love it. Great tone, ultra portable and lots of power. Here's a review I did of the MB500: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlYn2ZXeYYg
7. Thanks for the replies! I hate to be a downer and ask for the negatives, but sometimes gear gets hyped up a bit. Asking for the negatives cuts through some that. Cheers! UG.
8. I am very seriously thinking of buying this cab. 1. any possible negatives? 2. 26 pounds seems very light. I have known some cab makers to be less than honest on their weight ratings. Is it really 26LBS 3. what are its limitations? thanks!
