Dingwall Afterburner £280 BIN
warwickhunt replied to warwickhunt's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Where does McEwan's Strong sit in the mix? That's the first beer that made me sit up and say woah!
McEwans... good old Geordie ale but you are going back some ways! Brown Ale (Bottles of Dog) is a (ahem) step up from McEwans; though I still rate a 'good' pint of McEwans Scotch as one of the finest pints of beer. -

I did a deal with a Canadian guy and from the outset I stated what I wanted in £sterling. When he made the transfer he had based it upon an 'on-line' rate; unfortunately the reality was VERY different and we were over £100 out. Due to the fact that I'd always stated that it had to be in UK currency we sorted it but I did offer him a full refund if he didn't want to proceed due to the difference for him. I have to agree that in your instance, offering to split the difference is preferable to souring an £850 deal.
Would you settle for a beer instead? I've never been to the UK but I'm due for a visit.
Beautiful countryside in the Northumberland/Scottish Borders; as for the beer... we have Broon Ale! -
Oh, and for the record, it weighs exactly 8.5lbs so its pretty light.
is that 8 point 5lb (ie 8lb 8oz) or 8lb 5oz? How come whenever I ask about the weight of these people all seem to say less than 8 1/2lb yet everyone that I've weighed has been between 9-10lb... and yes I've had my scales checked!
Who are these guys? I appreciate that even though they based it on one of our designs they put a lot of their own design ideas into it.

Wind up, or genuine?
If it is genuinely SD, I claim a free (OK discounted) bass for uncovering this fraud! ... No serious I do. -
'Modified' Squier/Fender basses
I wonder if anyone thinks they're getting a Squier Vintage Modified Precision?
The wording of the listing certainly snags anyone looking for that model bass. -
Hey chaps,,, if you have read any of my previous threads, I am now a massive bongo fan. Only thing is, I really want the stealth version. Mine is sapphire black 4HS with the pearloid pickguard Does anyone fancy a swap? Im not fussed if its the 5 string or the HH version on offer. Cheers Steven
You see its Bongo all the way... until someone offers you the next big thing that you hadn't thought of!
Yep, I bought it last week? Had you been looking at it? I doubt I'll ever let a Kubicki go again (I've made that mistake before!). It's nice to have a slice of 80's technology sitting around. The Kubicki is just so awesome, nothing else sounds like it and I think I'd miss that sound! If you ever want a go for old time's sake, just PM me. EDIT: Molan, got any pictures of the 80's Monarch?
I was sorely tempted with that but it was just too radical a departure for me. As for the offer of trying your Kubicki; I may well take you up on that.
Been a bit rough on the guy here, don't you think? I mean, eventually he's given the receipts to prove where the parts came from, although he could have been accurate from the very start and possibly saved himself a lot of trouble, but having sold things on a whim before I understand the half-assed approached to selling..... only once people start asking questions do you start digging receipts and stuff out to find out yourself. Some people are more organised than others I guess. Reading through this thread though I was a bit taken a back by some of the comments, especially here on BC. Seemed more like the Ernie Ball forum at times. Good luck, I hope someone tries the bass and loves it.
I'm not about to applaud or argue with your comments but you should appreciate that the description and OP has been altered and amended numerous times; what you say posted atm is not how it started! Not saying right or wrong but we all live and learn.
I'm lovin this bass - it's reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaallllllly nice. So it is not going to re-appear for sale/trade anytime soon.
Got to agree. I can't believe that it wasn't snapped up as soon as it came up for sale, then again you'd have to play it to appreciate it!
I might actually have to change my mind from my Kubicki to my ACG Harlot singlecut. It's incredible, absolutely fantastic. Could it be the best bass I've ever had? A review will follow soon...
So that's where Peter's bass has gone... nice one! If you have no love for the Kubicki, I'll give it a home.

'Modified' Squier/Fender basses
warwickhunt replied to warwickhunt's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
If you read my original post you'll see that I've not criticised the eBayer in any way; I just find it odd that folk feel that it's worth an extra £100 to have somebody else put a Fender tattoo on a copy bass. -
I'm not entirely sure why the peanut gallery is sniggering at this. Seems like an entirely legitimate listing. It's not a million miles from me - does anyone want me to go and check it out?
Who's sniggering? It'd be pretty shocking if this turned out to be as good as the real thing... scary thought! -
Sting signed bass is back again...
Let me guess... you've got a saved search for local basses on eBay? I also noticed this one coming up again in my daily swathe of eBay search notifications.
Nope... I have a search saved for 'Sting'. I'm a big Paul Newman fan!
