Courier points system and courier issues
warwickhunt replied to paul, the's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Holla folks, just a quick question - I've ordered a replacement Allparts neck for my Jazz, which has been shipped from the States via USPS. According to the info supplied through the USPS tracking service, the neck arrived in the UK on the 7th April, and is currently sitting in Customs. Does anyone have any idea how long these things can usually take to work their way through, or is it a 'piece of string' question? Just getting a tad impatient and wanting to set to work on my first project bass.
When they've processed it you'll get a letter, a week to 10 days perhaps BUT if you know that Royal Mail/Parcelforce are processing it as opposed to C&E then a phone-call giving them the tracking number can mean that you pay taxes over the phone with a card and the parcel gets to you a lot quicker than waiting for them to contact you. However, this all depends on how/who is processing but I'm fairly sure that USPS means that ParcelForce/Royal Mail will be holding it until taxes/duty is paid; as opposed to a couple other options whereby the courier handles it from collection to delivery and you pay them after the parcel is delivered. -
Perhaps you could elaborate
Some details here... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=36625 Apothem - I've used Interparcel in the past with no problems BUT I do seem to recall that 'their' T&C preclude musical instruments through UPS may not and your contract is with Interparcel. Worth checking as I may be wrong.
Just had a shifty looking transaction with Warwickhunt in a sercive station car park where gear and money changed hands. No BS from this fella. Echoing whats said here the man is a scholar and a gentleman and hope he enjoys his new bass!
Cheers Perry. I've got to say that Perry isn't half as scary as his avatar makes him out to be!

Vintage Sunburst finish Maple 1/4 sawn neck Maple fingerboard with pearloid dot markers x2 PRS Jazz Pick-ups Vol/Vol/Tone Active/Passive PRS circuit (switchable) Original PRS case with tools, hang tags and even cloth Very good condition with very little surface 'swirling' where you would slap/pop. No dings, cracks, scratches or bucklerash (though if you tip it in the light you can see a little 'worming', though not visible otherwise). No fretwear and action is presently set 'low' (normal by my standards but other bassists that have played it have thought it was too low for them ) but if you play with a heavier hand I'll set it up with a bit more relief if you like. The case has a couple of very small marks/nicks but they are not tears and it looks very good from a short distance (I'm just giving potential buyers all info). Neck width @ nut is 40mm. I'll also obviously supply the straplock buttons to attach to your strap. Please feel free to contact me if you would like a particular aspect photographed and I'll get them to you. Collection from near Newcastle Upon Tyne or courier at your expense. £1000
I've heard similar things from another guy who owned a Streamer Stage 1. Must be a duff model generally...
A sweeping generalisation! I find the Streamer Stage I to be a fabulous bass and having owned a pair of SSII (among a multitude of other NT Warwick) I'd still personally take a SSI.

Just out of interest what do other studios use? I can't ever recall going into a studio and finding an 8x10 stashed in a cupboard, it's often a case of what the band has or something of decent quality in 2x10/2x12/1x15 format! I'd have thought there are a good few cabs out there as good/better than the archaic design of the Ampeg 8x10.

Got to say mate I was looking at your original post and about to PM you, then I read your response to what seemed an innocent bit of advise! We all 'read' things in different ways and you may well have misinterpreted the suggestion of posting pics differently to I, just as others (and myself) may have misunderstood your response! How about taking a step back, putting some pics up... oh and getting me an accurate weight!
My sound gear has always been as flat in tone as they come and after slobbering over both the Streamer and thumb for months I'm torn between the pair. Its not the sort of buy I'm looking to do twice so I'm asking your advice on what do you think is the more versatile instrument, what will hold its value better between the two, and whats the up keeping of both instruments like, how often does the wood need treating... Fingers crossed someone will have handled them both, and will have the answers for me.
They are very different instruments in look and tone so I think if you try each of them your decision will be very easy to make. I've owned (cough) 'several of each' and I'd take the Streamer every time; IMHO it is more comfortable and versatile. As for upkeep and waxing - honestly don't worry about it! Regardless of the fact that they are natural and require waxing I don't believe that they need any more care than a lacquered bass. You wipe down a lacquered bass every once in a while, that's all you do with the Warwicks only you apply a little wax when you do it. I've got/had basses that I've waxed maybe once a year with the occasional rub with a duster every now and again and some of my basses were with me for 15-20 years with no ill effect, so long as you aren't living in a Country with high humidity or silly extremes. A tin of wax lasted me 10 years + and I owned 19 Warwick basses at the time... not a big deal honest!
Bugger. I knew i shouldn't have clicked on this thread. Ive been thinking of downsizing my MB SA450 9yeah, really) and have been tempted by the few TC 4500 Classics that have been turning up on here, but after seeing this, and hearing the clips WoT has kindly uploaded im now 99% sure ill get a 600 sooner rather than later. I was going to get a new bass but i think after 4 years with the SA450 im ready for amp GAS. The 600 will be more than loud enough and the price seems pretty good compared to the other small heads around at the moment. Anyone care to comment how these sound compared to the MB heads?
I had the SA450 and after trying WoT's Streamliner I'd say they would justify you looking at the GB.

Secondhand Warwick Prices - Wtf Is Going On??
warwickhunt replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
This is too funny! See what I just posted in the Bass Guitars section. I want a Warwick again, and thinking of selling my red Jazz. I really miss my old Corvette $$.
I've two Warwick's for sale... NT Streamers though (and one is a fretless )! -
Private Listing Bidders Identities Protected...
warwickhunt replied to MB1's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Yeah I'd like to know too. I don't sell on ebay, do you have to select it or de-select it as an option?
It's automatic on most sales. One positive is that it stops toe-rags from contacting bidders who are bidding on your items and offering to sell them identical items at reduced/lower prices or items available off ebay. -
I had considered it! Either that or maybe ordering a new bass from Bogart, or trying to source a Clover Slapper or a Schack with a graphite neck (like trying to find a clean sheet in a nursing home).
I had a Schack headless, nice bass but the EQ had almost 'too' many variables (certain combinations of those internal DIP switches could generate some nasty sounds).

I do think that the question of weight is a more than valid request! Manufacturers give 'guesstimations' on weights of basses but there is a massive tolerance for actual instruments; I've owned basses such as a pair of Lakland DJ basses and they varied from 4.5kg to 5.7kg. That's quite a difference if you are getting on in years and/or do long sets regularly... and don't even start on the variance in old fender basses!
By the way, if anyone wants to sell anything with a bit of graphite in it (or a headless bass), please let me know!
A Zon Sonus?

Bought my old H&K rig back that I sold 5 years ago!
It looks really cool...
I was using the combo version of this when I was with our old band... weighed as much as a small car but it was bliddy good! -
That's an interesting point about the leads I did it the other way around. I picked up a speaker lead and played my guitar through my AC15.... It sounded awful. I was all for taking the amp to a repairer! Leads make all the difference
Hand on heart the sound/volume when I first tried it was WOEFUL and I had genuinely budgeted to have the amp repaired when I bought it but inspection of the cable he supplied just rang major alarm bells and it was the simplest fix... EVER. I did have a pang of conscience and I've sent him a cheque for another £30, churlish not to! -
RED ALERT
...THINKING! I genuinely thought that it'd be like meeting up with an old girlfriend and she wasn't quite as nice/good as you remembered but it brought back all of the good things that I remembered of the 250 combos. Considering I'm only getting about 170-180w into the 8ohm load I'm seriously thinking that I'd have enough power to compete with the guitards and then DI for FOH. We'll see what happens when I try it with the band. -
As the owner of your other BassBase 250 head I can definitely say that you're not getting it back!! Coupled with a pair of BFM 10.5s it's lovely even if it looks a bit Heath Robinson in a homemade sleeve.
Honestly mate, I've not stopped playing with this since I got it back and if it can make a loud enough noise with my band (enough for me to monitor on-stage), I'm thinking of selling my Thunderfunk and pair of Aggies!
