1.
How can you tell someone has been shill bidding?
Thems trade secrets, known only to the ebay Police... However, if you look at the bidding history on his last 'THREE' Decade sales you might see the pattern.
 2. Not that it matters because you were prepared to bid more than £500 anyway but you do realise that he's been shill bidding his basses up to £500! Those with a good detective's nose (Inspector Beedster ) will be able to find the evidence.
 3. That string extension is a first for me!
 4.
Just found this link to clear up any confusion from Hans himself
No disrespect to HPW but I've learned to take 'the gospel according to official Warwick sources' with a pinch of salt! You'd be amazed how many times people quote official Warwick responses (inc those from HPW) and they have glaring omissions/inaccuracies. In fact if your response is cut and paste from HPW, there's a humongous one (or more) staring you in the face in that statement!
 5. How come I go away from the PC for 5 days and stuff like this goes by! Had one of these and has been said it's often referred to as a 'Streamette' and as Mart stated they are not as urban myth would have you believe, the earlier 91 Ltd Ed 'Infinettes' with the necks chopped off (among other things for the reasons that Mart outlined). The numbers of this bass vary depending upon who you listen to (if it is a seller you are listening to there are only 20 in the world... ) but seeing as how I've owned 2 and seen a dozen or more for sale I don't think that there are as few as people say!
 6.
Speak to Bassdoc on here, he makes scratchplates, he does all mine and very reasonable too.
+1 for the Doc!
 7. Had the chance this afternoon to try WoT's Streamliner and... I'm impressed! It has to be the first of the lightweight amps that has had authority (not volume) yet has had an openness/clarity to the tone. I had three of the MB amps when they first came and I trialled WoT's TC and I didn't think any of them cut the mustard for me, certainly none have worried my allegiance to the Thunderfunk but the GB certainly has something above all of the other micro amps. WoT has kindly offered that I can try the GB out with the full band in a couple of weeks time and that will be an interesting trial. I'd have to say that you need to be a little careful when using some of the gain settings when using cabs with certain horns/tweeters but if you can attenuate the horns/tweeters or dial in the right settings with the GB it'll not be an issue at all. Yep I'm impressed.
 8.
Yes. Ha ha... Are you around tomorrow lunchtime?
No plans other than the Moto GP races from 3ish!
 9.
Oh, and the rounds are about 100 years old.
Oh... that set of rounds!
 10. Two pup types... piezo and piezo I assume! Stereo outputs... How does that work then? I'm assuming it's one output for each pup (whatever/wherever they may be, if there are two) but that would just be a mono from each.
 11.
Cheers! Here's some more audio-only clips I did with a decent-ish recorder... I tried to drive the amp hard without upsetting the neighbours...! I don't know how useful these are, as they were done in a hurry, but I'll post them anyway. Apologies for the occasional clipping... Jazz, rounds, both pups on full Jazz, rounds, neck pup backed off a bit Jazz, flats, both pups on full Fretless P, flats
Blimey I thought you'd made a mistake when I listened to the first clip; I was sure that was flats... till I played the flats clip!
 12.
I've just spotted his ebay-name. It rings a bell but I can't remember from what... of course it doesn't help that all his past listings are private.

He also selling a 70's P that I think has already been discussed
I thing that seller is a regular contributor to the ebay giggles on this section of BC!
 13.
Jesus - any other cheaper options that you could recommend?
Can't remember if it is UPS or more likely USPS that are cheaper but unfortunately the insurance is worse than Parcel Farce! I'm sure there are cheaper couriers especially if the person shipping has a contract with the courier in The States but tbh buying off ebay from The States is a hit/miss affair and I'd not be happy about the possibility of being under insured or stiffed with carriage fees and taxes.
 14.
Anyone got any idea what the costs are to ship a guitar back to the UK using Fed-Ex or DHL?
By those particular couriers I was quoted $450-$500 for a Sterling to be shipped in a hardcase from the USA to UK... cost of adequate insurance doesn't help matters as you are taxed on the shipping costs and insurance!
 15.
By the time you add shipping, VAT & duty you'll barely save £150 over Uk street price.
+1 With the shipping and taxes etc. you'd be so close to the price of a new bass, that it'd be daft taking the risk on an ebay bass that is used! Soundslive have the Classic in stock for £1629... but there's something distinctly mind-bending about the pic of the 4 string on their website! http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~M...MN~ID~13261.asp
 16. Is 'bassmanrich' not one of our very own here on BC?
 17.
Are you guys all trying to tell me its fake? Oh sh*t
Never mind £820 is cheap enough, as that famous vintage guitar dealer in Norfolk will buy it off you for more than you paid... after all they say it's genuine and surely they'd snap your arm off to get a genuine 64 P bass for under a grand!
 18.
I'm the high bidder because Norfolk Vintage Guitars said it may in fact be a '63
Blissfully disappointed on all counts then!
 19.
£720 with one hour to go.
Someone is going to be either bitterly disappointed or blissfully ignorant and happy!
 20.
If someone says £100+ to you for this work I'd walk away. Good luck.
I simply quoted £100 as a throw away figure... however, if (and I'm not saying it is so with the OP bass) the active preamp or a pup were defective then it could easily be £100 to have a bass sorted inc' set-up!
 21.
thanks for the advice about sorting the issues out...i think you folks may be right. i was hoping the (what i consider to be) low price would tempt people, but it seems not. time to take it down to the bass gallery i reckon.
Just to add the caveat that any bass has a ceiling price! Spending £100 on the bass will not make it worth £350. I'd establish if there is a going rate for similar basses in 'sorted' condition and then when you get a quote (always dodgy getting an estimate as that leaves the door open for all sorts of extra work) for repairs, I'd weigh up if the bass is going to sell for what you need to recoup. There's always a price at which someone will take a punt and take it off you regardless of issues... OHM has thrown his hat in the ring! Again; just trying to ensure you don't get blinkered.
 22.
... I'd even brave Tottenham too
Steady on!
 23.
ok, is the 'lectrics that are putting people off ? or is it me ? /wails and kicks feet/
As an outsider I'd have to say that NOT getting the problems fixed and getting it set-up (mentioning that it needs a set-up indicates that 'something' needs to be done), could well hamper your sale at any price! I've no idea if £250 is a good or bad price for one these days (I had one when they first cane out and recall that £250 was about the going rate back then), but if the fixes are as cheap and easy as you say then getting them done could justify a couple of quid added onto your present sale price... otherwise potential buyers could be stroking their chin thinking; '£250 plus cost of new electrics, possibly inc pups, PLUS the cost of a set-up... could get expensive'! However, £275 for a fully sorted bass with no issues could be attractive. As I say I'm just playing 'Devil's Advocate' and looking at this as a neutral outsider; fear of the unknown is a sure way of folks keeping money in their wallets especially when times are hard.
 24. Great tone for that style of music but (imho) what odd technique!
 25. I had an early Pro I NT version of this and it was a stunning bass. Very versatile and yet with a distinct tone to it if you wanted it. Balanced lovely as well... what's the weight like on the SN model?
