  3. NO... I Evilbayed and bought a cheapy £42 Epi LP for me last week... and got an £8 set of Olympia 10-48 Flatwounds for it, Sorted for £50... but not allowed it till Xmas... more to follow when its all sorted.
  4. Been NAGD... Evilbay strikes again... A jaunt round the '25 a bit to collect a cheapy Gear4Music Ovation-a-like elctro-acostic bowlback in a lovely Matt Burgandy Burst for my eldest Christmas pressie. Very similar/same as the Harley B's so should keep my Acoustic Bass company! Real nice fit 'n finish and well setup... Impressed for a budget £100 guitar... As New @ £35! Bargain...
  5. If the front comes out anything like the back... Nice... Me? Satin... Watching with interest... My Epi.. Had the pickguard off, got some cheap flat metal pickup surrounds from the bay £3 as the epi is flat body flat neck and doesnt need the slanted surrounds... flat met truss rod cover £2... got a bit of wood for the trem cavity to block the bridge, ans leave the 3 springs in for the 'Angels Voices'... was looking at the Telecaster Humbucker all-in-one bridge... but the measurements are out, between the pickup and bridge bits presumably scale length Gibo 24 3/4 to Fend 25 1/2... so just the minor mods n plat it, Humbuckers 650 n 700 are meant to be US voiced and great, anything else is gonna be more than a quarter of the purchase cost...
  6. Nice... I picked up some cheap Epi Goodness... £42 from EvilBay... but not allowed to faff n fixup as 'It's for Christmass...' got a set of Olympia 10-48 Flatwounds for it, £8 from EvilBay... so £50 All-In...
  7. Just a shout for Spaldings Fasteners... found em on the bay... I've had 3 sets of Bridge Screws from them, Dog Point for less scratch... bargain and quick delivery... something like £2 posted... ideal to swap for over long or rusty adjusters...

  13. Strange how the Ibby Cheapies hang about in pairs... My 2x GSR200 are now wired VBT and keep the PhatII... Walnut Brown with Flats and Black with Rounds... Nice pair of corner dwellers...
  14. 2 - 3mm? Thats loads isnt it? Buisines card, 0.5mm ish, No?
  15. Something Simple?.. Sound of the bass with no extras... Small and Tough... £40ish... https://www.ehx.com/products/headphone-amp/ https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Electro-Harmonix-Personal-Practice-Headphone-Amp/1H4T?origin=product-ads&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI34_RmqvN9AIVxpTVCh3geA3rEAQYAiABEgIhwPD_BwE
  16. Dug this out from under the bed... My Charvel 2 from '88... from when i was 20, skinny and had hair... I'd say in near immaculate condition for 33 years old... the guitar not me... im more Road Worn or Light Relic and 53. It had an outing a few years back for the eldest, but they (me) are a little reluctant to have it just kicking about... They have a Squier Stat, which they love... with the greatest of thanks to, and generosity of @Happypants
  17. Could be worse.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-Fanned-Fret-5-String-Maple-Unique-Wishbass-EMG-40-HZ-Soapbar-/133933816193?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0
  18. Had a go to sort the buzz... Took a needle file to the 1st fret... then 400 down to 3000 grit, 0000 wire wool then Autosolve Polish... no fret files or crowning tools here!. It's a bit better... some buzz when plucked hard... don't really want to take the 1st fret any lower or might start buzzing on the 2nd... I think the nut might be a little low so kinda split the difference... Don't want to add any more relief... and cause buzz higher up the fretboard. Neck ended up being about £15ish instead of £50ish as i got a partial refund as the neck wasnt gliss finished as adverised and the side fret markers at 9 had been double drilled, plugged and redrilled, and markers at 12 drilled, plugged and double drilled...
  19. ?.. I thought that was normal... A slight volume / output drop when both PUs are on full vol... I've replaced the VVT on my 2x Ibby GSR PJ for VBT and went VBT on the Jazz PJ... MN Taper over AC
  20. luverly... the Walnut 'n Roasted Mapel go realy nice together... Jazz Neck 'n NO TORT... luverly Nice grown up sensible looking bass befitting a grown up and sensible looking 50 yo... but as we know looks can be deceptive!
  21. I"m colour blind... Match is close enough, specially as they are not going to be bang on next to each other... That body, nice bit of wood, but didn't realise from the original pics how much of a edge contour, almost to Ibanez proportion... realy realy nice, much lighter looking and more modern take on a classic. Neck looks nice... have you considered a matching contour around the headstock, front and back after the risers from the nut... alowing for the tuner bodies and ferrels... soften the look and make it more unique, especually being short scale n all... What are you gonna refinish the table in 😉
  22. Ask (insist) that Ampeg accept it for examination and request replacement... Send em a link to this thread...
  23. Pilot hole of the correct size n depth... Candle wax or Dry soap bar for lube... Bit of plastic bag between scredriver tip n screw to protect screw head finish if black I always run the screw in and out the hole to thread the wood before mounting a component...
  24. Try going the other way for some songs... Play Slow n strong with authority letting the notes ring longer... leaving a bit of room rather than trying to fill it... Like inane conversation to fill an awkward pause... leave a pit of space... There are a lot of 3 piece out there
