1. Hi All, I have an as new limited edition (yellow) Maverick guitar in a case which is doing nothing, would be willing to trade it for any bass related gear. It is like: http://www.jaxmusic.co.uk/?p=productsMore&...ame=maverick-g1 Its a great instrument Sorry if this is slightly in the wrong place Cheers Stuart
2. For me, it is Hollywood nights, a super simple bassline but incredibly repetitious and hard to keep in the groove after a while when paralysis hits your wrist, this is partially because i use a pick on this one and double down stroke it for punch. Also, doing My generation properly and not the normal cut down solos version. The only other one is a Huey Lewis number called Crack me up, where my bass part is that of a sequencer, we speed it up a bit too.
3. Very interesting thread this, and one close to my heart, I have done this sort of thing many times, I believe in acts of random kindness, and have given away kit over the years, if I see someone who really wants to learn/play but simply cant afford it. I always think back to when I was starting out and how I would have felt if someone had made the gesture to me. When all said and done if you can do it every now and again you should, it cant all be about money, and the hope is they will repeat this later in their lives. So, well done mate!
4. Just look at my signature! However in mitigation m'lud, buying and selling many, many basses has achieved two major thing: 1) I have got to play many varied and interesting instruments 2) Have made sufficient profits (usually) to continue fuelling GAS. But recently I have slightly overdone it, especially by ordering an ACG bass. Can I kick it? Unlikely? I am a hopeless case. I do think that a swap forum would be a great idea as we all appear to be doing more trades than sales recently, not sure how it would work but it would be a well used forum! More basses, more basses I tell you.................
5. Hi guys, Popped into a local music shop I frequent and he showed me a really nice 5 string T bass in Blue cw hardcase, these tend to go for silly money, but he said if I knew someone that wanted it, he would let it go for £500. Just a heads up if anyone is looking for one of these, pm me and I will give you the contact details. Cheers all
6. I also agree that putting a price up is the best way to go and it can be really frustrating when people don't. Talking of trends I also note a lot of newbies jumping into the sale section
7. I used to like Pedulla's, had two of them, until I had dealings with Mr Pedulla, what an arse, vowed never to get another!
8. Excellent job mate, really impressed, nice one!
9. Just for the record Giblett123 is a top bloke to deal with, bought a couple of great basses from him.
10. This is one of my old basses and is a superb instrument to play, the neck was refretted by a great luthier and plays like butter (!) At that price, this bass is an absolute steal, someone buy this before I have it back!
11. Hi all, I have decided to order a bass from ACG and have started going through the specs, I like the recurve, but as to woods etc, any advice would be gratefully received. I want to achieve a punchy tone but with a background of warmth if that makes sense, I get this currently with my Warwick and would love to get this with an ACG. Anyway, any constructive ideas woulod be great. Cheers Stuart
12. Amazing, cannot find anything about the Ostinato, I even looked if the company was called 'tribute bass' as Ostinato is a musical term, but no joy either. It looks like a great instrument, and I am a little tempted what with it being pretty close to me, but it would be nice to know a bit more about its provenance. Either way have a bump on me!
13. Had a great gig last night playing a beer festival, lot of local competition but we pulled a great crowd and had an absolute blast, people dancing from the first number.
14. I was watching that too, and nearly bid, someone definately has a bargain!
15. Best of luck, and relax, most important thing.
16. I have the six string version of this and can confirm these are phenominal basses, super quality and craftsmenship, at £250 its an absolute steal! it's lucky for me he doesn't live any closer!
17. another previous owner here, I got it from molan, and I can honestly say it is a superb instrument with some incredible tones, and in great nic. New owner would not be disappointed!
18. Me too, I am missing the point here....
19. I am in Hereford and would also do it for nowt! But it is an easy skill, and if you pop to Maplins you can get an iron for next to nothing, worth learning.
20. I have an unused Boss ME20b if that is of interest... Cheers Stu
