1. Thats aweful. As kiwi says, sometimes you just gotta put it down to experience, take the hit and walk way hopefully making even... Good luck Garry
2. Fingers here. Just easier for me to get the sound and feel i like from my basses. G
3. A 1u fx processor as seen here: http://www.samsontech.com/products/product...cfm?prodID=1633 Some cool fx but nothing i use very often. Works fine and comes with power supply. G
4.
The reason behind the statement is that the majority of the gig going public don't realise that a band with bad equipment may sound bad for that reason. A colleague of mine (who is a fantastic engineer) was actually assaulted by a punter who punched him on the nose, because the guitars weren't audible. Fact was that the guitarist was using a horrendous crate amp and kept turning the amp up and down mid song. A good band, in contrast, is NOT hard for ANYONE to do sound for.
I disagree a good engineer with a bad desk/pa/band will sound good. A bad engineer with all the best gear and bands wont. Just my opinion. G
5. am in edinburgh but am no a weegie (soap dodgers) Welcome G
6. Awesome. Look forward to some little samples and stuff soon
7.
Sound engineers cant polish a turd. Something many people forget.
Thats a bit of an imature statement. The differences between good and bad sound engineers are the same between good and bad bass players. There are some brilliant engineers i work with on a regular basis and the difference they make is huge. You tend to find that the good engineers dont work in rubbish venues that often..... G
8. Ok, Not sure this is totally appropriate to be honest guys. In the past there have been some upset female users (although i am not sure they are still about) at things like this. Prevention is better than cure and, as such, i am gonna hit the nail on the head now. Garry
9. Kind of Blue by Miles davis is tasty but upright. G
10. Just had another look. I love that colour!
11. Comfy pants. Scratch plate and a nice finnish underneath would be nice IMHO. That way the finnish is quiet subtle and understated rather than in your face. To be honest, the other way would be great too if you do a good job of plugging the hole. G
12. yup and here can read, can't sight read too fast. G
