1. Stuart Clayton, Dave Marks, Urb and Lenny B i think write for BGM G
2. If your serious about the band you will make time for it as well as the job. G
3.
3) There are still going to be loads of false positives which get in the way of communication and cause other problems. When the filter mangled my posting in the 'Wanted' forum, changing 'bass' to 'be*ss' , I shut down my system and changed my keyboard, thinking mine had somehow developed a fault. Call me selfish, but this is at least as inconvenient to me as someone else being denied access at work.
Do you not see the funny side of this?! Lighten up man. G
4. The Alesis ones are very good for the cash. You will not be dissapointed with tannoy's (the reveal range), teh Samson Resolv range. If it was me getting a set i would prob look at these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KRK-RP8-Powered-Stud...1QQcmdZViewItem They do cheaper models too but the chat on the garpevine is that they are awesome. I would recomend getting active ones as its less to worry about (power amps etc...) and one less potential problem when trouble shooting. G
5. Thank you very much for that. What a brilliant interview. G
6. Pm i just got from user:
Hi Garry I presume I'm the one referred to in your post about the profanity filter -
At the end of the day, this came about as a request from a user to me as he is unable to access certain pages due to these words being flagged up on his works computer. We are helping a user out (i suspect a handful actually) so i dont see why its got such a bad reaction... G
I wasn't referring to just myself, I mentioned that it would effect anyone in that position. Although I'm allowed to use my company workstation to access the internet in my down time, I dare not use it to browse Basschat. I work for a large company, whose content filter will not only scan the page before deciding to display it, but if the page content triggers the filter, then it locks the website out of the system for good. So the carelessly chosen words of an immature or angry poster will indirectly restrict access to the forum by its members. As someone who quite often works a 96 hour week - that's a lot of access to loose! I was locked out of Bassworld at work for over 2 years which is the primary reason I didn't contribute much to that site. Since I noticed the sudden increase of sexual swear words on Basschat I've bought a laptop and take that into work to connect through a freephone dial-up account - which can be very tedious when viewing the bass porn section! Like you, I can't understand why some people in particular are being so vociferous and argumentative about a simple filter - which has worked on TalkBass for quite some time with no problems. I don't consider a profanity filter censorship - that's really about the removal and withholding of information from the public by a controlling body. Although people might rant about their right of expression, and being allowed to use sexual swear words "if appropriate" - (whenever that might be?) - they are not having their opinion or information censored - they are having their language moderated. Moderate on, and apologies if my humble request has created discord! (which I think is a root and flattened fifth?) Cheers
G
Assisting people to defraud their employers and encourage the possibly illegal misuse of company equipment.... get a bad reaction....?
Thats not really what we are discussing though. Each company has its own internet browsing rules. My work are fine with me browsing this forum for example as long as its in my own time and my work is done. G

10. You do know that, with the help of a pre amp, you can get 8 more inputs from that card? G
11. I bet its pulled in no time at all. eBay will be all over that in no time and close it down. G
12. That is obsene Would be interesting to hear his playing in a band now. G
13.
With a bit of polyeurathane foam sandwiched between, they're great for isolating speakers.
With a paving slab sandwiched between them, they make great anchors.
14. at long last Now, go use it G
15. Nice man, Nice tunes and brilliant playing all round. I think mix wise the bass sits well, maybe could be brought forward a tiny touch. Its the drums that are lacking sonically for me. its sounds as if they have been compressed too much? I would give them more top end on the EQ side of things and let them breath a little more. Same with the sax, just a little more verb and things sould nicely open up. G
16. MU Rates would be worth looking at Luke. Cant go far wrong. the cover everything from playing time, gear lugging, mileage (15p per mile after the first 30 i believe) Check it out http://www.musiciansunion.org.uk/site/cms/...w.asp?chapter=1 G
17. nah, not at all man, its a very interesting train of thoughts.
18. Fear of a Blank planet is the first PT album i have got. I dont think DT have had any 'Radrunner' influence in their production if i am being honest. Watching the DVD (and seeing credits) Portnoy and Petrucci seem well behind the driving seats. Maybe its in the in the mix but I dont hear what you are talkign about too heavily... What i do hear are heavy influences in the mixes: Track 1 - Rush (instrumental) Track 3 - Metallica (arrangement and vocals) Track 6 - Muse (Keys and arrangement - heavy Queen vox too) Its interesting but i wonder how it will settle with me G
19. Wow, do you guys do any powerballads Cool stuff G
20. I know what you mean. Been listening to it all day and none of it is rally sinking in well. I love the porcupine tree album BTW G
