1. 1957 for me and I have two '57 re-issue Precisions. Definitely as near as I will get!
2. Thanks Jon. Actually, I could make that £70. Just had a look at the bridge and why there is a screw missing and two of the screws have sheared off. Either a/ the buried bits would need drilling out b/ make do with the other 4 screws c/ fit a new bridge that required new holes drilling.
3. Some pics - still has the new pickup and straplocks, I will take these off: There, I said it was scruffy! Works just fine though.
4. I had one - Bryan now has it (still scruffy?) - and they are very good. I kind of wish I were in the market for a jazz bass as these are probably as good a Jazz bass as you can get without paying double this asking price.
5. Westone Thunder Jet, MIJ '84. Passive, P type split pup. Very scruffy body with evidence of a bad paint patch around the control knob area. Wood is sound, just looks scruffy. As Thunder jets go this is quite heavy at just over 9lbs. 22 frets, lovely neck, truss rod is fine. Bridge missing one screw. Non-original knobs for vol and tone. I tried it with a better pick-up to use a a beaten up back up but it is a touch too heavy. I will be returned back to how I got it except clean. Ripe for modding. Did I mention this is scruffy? Pics this afternoon. Looking for [s]£80[/s] [s]£70[/s] £60 collected from SS71LD or [s]£93[/s] [s]£83[/s] £73 posted.
6. I had one - sold it to Dunc, I believe. Perfect 'get out of jail free' to stick in your gig bag. I miss it so PM incoming.
7. Many Happy Returns for yesterday, Warren. How's the head? And how many more paydays? Not many. For me the choice would be simple - YOB (in my case a '57) Precision.
8.
Doris Stokes was a happy medium.
And this is an Epimedium I am currently using Barefaced Supercompact cab with an old ABS rack-mounted Trace Elliot head, both weigh about the same so it is a balanced carry. Although my 'new' Fender Rumble has put a smile on my face immediately... a combo can be useful sometimes.
9. Steve bought my rack case in the simplest of transactions. Great comms. A pleasure doing business!
10. It is my pleasure to be the first to leave feedback fro Ninja_Baby. I bought Nick's Fender Rumble combo in the most straightforward of sales. I said 'yes please', he brought it round, I gave him money. If only everything in Life were that straightforward! A pleasure doing business, Nick
11. Bought a Hipshot detuner from Steve in the simplest of transactions, arrived promptly and beautifully packaged. Perfect!
12. I seem to be afflicted by GAS in the same way as I am my bad back. There is a constant latency about it - the condition always exists but doesn't always manifest itself. Then I see a picture of something interesting and, bang, there it is - full blown GAS.
13. A quick post script - I bought one of these rifle hard cases for my new B2B bass and it fits perfectly. Offers more protection than the gig bags. Bit tight at the fat end but the foam will squash down. Plano SE Rimfire http://www.ebay.co.u...=item280c0c9515 Not for RATM though.
14. They are over here this summer, looking forward to seeing them.
15. Me too I'd recommend spending a while sifting through some of the Japanese eBay sellers. There seems to be more short and medium scale basses floating around over there. Secondhand prices are very low so that, even with all the extras you get hit with when importing, you can often find more choice at an acceptable price. I've bought 3 basses from Japan in the past few years and it has always been a surprisingly pleasant and uncomplicated procedure.
16. I need to listen to more of them, I think. We were going to do this in one band but, in the end, decided that our backing vocals didn't come up to scratch... http://youtu.be/hFzG7vD_bZ4
17. Great gig in a tiny pub in Castle Hedingham, The Bell, on Friday with my band Illegal Tender. A small but very appreciative crowd. Turkish specials on the menu - I got there early and had a delicious lamb mince dish. We've been booked to go back in June.
18. How about this? Black scaled down Precision bass body, 32" scale and, if you don't use the J pup, sounds just like a Precision: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/277406-132-price-drop-mid-80s-fender-jazz-bass-special-mij-32-scale-all-black-pj-535-l400-posted/ OK, shameless plug for something that isn't exactly as specified but, well, you know...
19.
You should bite the OP's hand off anyway. It's new and is a bargain!
A valid point. PM incoming
20. I bought one of these on here some while ago but have only this week got around to sorting out my effects board, such as it is. I charged the Volto from fully flat, ignoring when the LEDs stopped flashing and carrying on overnight. Must have been 12 hours on charge. I then used it to power up the pedals - Line 6 Relay G50 receiver, Mighty Sound PT06 tuner, zoom MS-60B, Boos LS-2 to see how long they would last. I was expecting 10-12 hours but checking after 6 everything was dead. I am starting the process again and will check more often to see exactly how long it takes for it all to die. I can't help feeling it should last longer? What would be realistic? Does switching on the pedals without actually using them make any difference to the power consumption? Ordinarily I would only use the tuner a couple of times a night, the LS-2 would be off mostly. Is the Line 6 receiver high power demanding? Obviously I can use it with the chord but that kind of defeats the object. ta!
21. Lilly Munster..... Edit - VILF?
22. He could also forward it to the current Mrs discreet, of course.....
23.
Show him the door. If the rest of the band won't fire him, walk. Seriously, it'll drive you bonkers otherwise.
This is what I would do. Assuming you do this as a hobby for fun, as soon as it stops being fun you have to re-think.
