    You deserve some new strings for sure after attending a kids birthday party, in fact if you spend more than an hour there you might need to treat yourself to a new bass to go with them for services rendered!!

    Just a thought, others with more knowledge might know better. as your replacing the pre completely it might be the opportune time to get a Hazlab if you can, I know bass direct sell them. please weigh in those that have them

    Go nuts, I play Bag End Cabs and they don’t make dedicated bass or guitar amps. I’ve put Ampeg, Mesa boogie and now having moved to a preamp/Power amp set up, all manner of makes and brands through them. You can choose cabs for their sterile clarity or because you feel they give you the right ‘colour’ as long as the technical setup is correct your good to go.

    I bought one of these earlier in the year to try a Jazz bass for the first time. lovely and easy to play with a real rich vintage sound from the flats on mine. I was pleasantly surprised by it. GLWTS

    I’ve posted on the wanted ads more than a few times and only a couple have proved fruitless. Maybe try there.

    Mesa boogie all tube eight 88 goes down to 2ohms and also has a power switch on the front to cut out certain valves so you can drop the power from approx 475w to 250w to 100w when you drop the power to half to keep the punch you plug an 8 ohm cab into the 4ohm output and so on. Also at 49lbs it’s a lot lighter than my SVT pros. The power switch is ideal for different venue sizes and home playing. The issue is finding one available.
