I use 2 x GK Neo 112-ii cabs. Great sound, size, build & price. Not sure what one would sound like though, always played through 2.

Our band share ownership of the PA. We all pay a small amount each gig for its upkeep, repairs and upgrade. It stays with the band if anyone leaves and last one(s) standing if we were to ever split up will own it.

I went for 2 of the GK Neo 112-ii cabs from Mark at Bass Direct. Easy one hand lift for each cab, or both in one trip and pricewise you'll be about the same as a single Vanderkley cab. They are superbly built. What I like a lot about them is they are small, lightweight and you can stack them on end to raise the speakers if you want. Got to be worth a listen.

Yes Dincz, that's exactly what I mean.

Maybe a strange title, i'll try and expand on it..... Some of the older, higher-end Markbass amps allow you to mute via footswitch. I don't really like a foot switch to do this and prefer a simple button on the amp. So I wondered, is there a simple jack button that would act as said footswitch, so I can go to the amp and simply press a mute button? Hope that make some sort of sense.

My tinitus blocks out any fan noise if I'm playing that quietly

There does come a point though where he has to "make the leap" .... even the larger manufacturers have different releases of cabs whilst they improve their design

Can't you just buy the full width rack kit for the STM 900 amp and go full width rack case?

I got myself a couple of the GK Neo 112-ii cabs 7 or 8 months ago. I moved from the Barefaced Compact, which although sounded great I always felt the sounds passed by my legs. I still don't think the BF are the greatest build quality either and didn;t really handle the rigours of gigging. Anyway, the GK 12" cabs are superb. Very light, build quality is excellent and I can stack them either vertical or horizontal depending on how close to the cabs I'm standing and need to hear myself. As for tone, maybe not as articulate as the BF but I'm more than happy the way that they sound and the band say they hear me better than with the BF. I play in a 5-piece band and have no problems with them. They are a little boomy, in my opinion but I just cut the bass back a bit on the amp (Ashdown ABM 500 III) and it's great. I must admit I do prefer a middly "honk" to dub bass tone. Got mine from Mark at Bass Direct for a decent price too.

I've had a few Sei basses and a Shuker bass, most custom-built to my specification. Both Martin Petersen and Jon Shuker are absolutely great guys to deal with and both had plenty of time to listen to my thoughts & suggestions. Like Krysh said, the Sei basses are almost like furniture with attention to detail. However, that comes with it's own problems and I actually found them almost too delicate for the rigours of gigging having to continually tweak truss rods and adjust the neck on more than one of the basses. My last bass took 18 months to complete and in my opinion that's too long. I was quoted 9 months. I'll be honest, the increase in costs by Sei for their Jazz basses now mean they are too high for me and I looked at another builder. The Shuker is now my workhorse bass and plays like an absolute dream. Jon Shuker was happy to do anything for me. I wanted a sparkle finish, which he was happy to do. He even went to the extent of re-shaping the neck and swapping out the inlay blocks on the neck because I wasn't happy. This was after I'd received the finished bass!!! This was all done free of charge (sorry Jon, I shouldn't say that) because he wanted me to be 100% happy with my bass. Build took around 9 months, when I was quoted 6 months and was about 1/2 the price of the Sei. An absolute bargain for the money. At the end of the day though, I would suggest you get a good idea of what you want and then speak to a number of builders. You'll soon know who you'd like to work with. Remember though, it's addictive !!!!

I went for the GK Neo 112-ii cabs which sound great and are almost as light as the BF Compact I used to own. Each cab is smaller, but bigger dimensions because there's 2 of them. I did feel the sound from the BF Compact passed my legs so was difficult to hear at some gigs and certainly wasn't bomb-proof when it came to a gigging cab. Just wanted to say.
