1.
Many thanks. Fairly conclusive, I'm off to buy some volume.
go markbass and bergantino or barefaced, defo the best around! though you may be swung by the others, IMO these are the best in the market
2. IMO this is the best rig all round: looks, sounds, weight its got it all
3. ahh this is simples I'd have two a Roscoe LG3000 (fretted, 4-string) - Ash body - Flame maple top ( whole body emerald green or dark green) - Possibly Wenge neck - Black Ebony fingerboard - Gold Hardware - Classic Bartolini Pickups - Bartolini 3-band pre-amp AND a Roscoe SKB3000 (fretless, 4-string) - Ash Body (cherryburst or dark red) - Quilted Maple top (naturalburst or amber high gloss) - Wenge Neck - Pau Ferro fretboard - Black hardware - Classic Bartolini Pickups - Bartolini 3-band pre-amp
4.
And more PM's replied to
Is this now gone, or is it still up for sale???
5.
Quite right too! Aren't you supposed to be at school working right now?
Aren't you too? I've finished my music stuff - you know me, finish with two lessons spare most of the time - and done the extra questions on other areas of study, before you try that one
6.
A little birdy tells me your cab will be finished very very soon
I doubt that, I play at a sensible volume, they'll last a long time
7.
LH500 / 1000
Completely agree, I got one too, Into 4 ohms, the Hartke LH500 is seriously loud!!!! and really clear lovely full sound, but it is the sound of the bass, not the amp Big Kudos to Hartke on the LH500
8. best rig I have heard with MB gear, is my dad's MB SA450 into a Berg AE10 - the nicest growliest tone ever!! but I prefer my Hartke LH500 with Berg HT210 and HT115 :snob: though I would like a MB F500 - cos of the weight and size
9. Hartke LH500, with some Bergantino cabs - sweetest sound ever, but you probably won't get any tube distortion from a LH500
10. Bergantino AE410 - fantastic cab, really really good quality sound and it puts out just the right amount of bottom end - i.e not muddy and unclear bottom
11.
Great! That's one workshop sorted for next year!!
That would be awesome!! and yeah I'm up for that at some point Ped
12.
Quite right too! Maybe next time I'll show you what I mean, get a bunch of pedals and a couple of decent rack comps and cop the pedals with the rack comps. Then show how much more useful a rack comp is, blah blah blah. Ending with my usual rantasm about the stupid pedals (apologies one and all!). Then again maybe not!
Stop it father, I think we all get the point now. Such a great day, highlights had to be: Jakes talk, playing all those lovely basses and getting to play loudly plus I now got new strings on my bass - YAY I'd like to thank all the guys who organized it and Mikey R for letting me play his basses for ages, and Ped for the 5 minute jam we had before his demo of the V-bass, which is awesome too
13. I'd get a Hartke LH500 (£325) for definite - great little amp with louds a volume and a really really nice tone can't think of a cab - what you playing (genre/bass-wise)
14.
Thanks. Recently I've been reading all about tone stacks and fiddling with the software - fascinating stuff but I started overloading on technical info (it doesn't take much)! I'm still trying to get my head around how adjusting lows affects the mids and so on. Anyway, I played with a LH500 in a shop in Hong Kong (incredible bargain here at about £185!) and was very impressed. Although the Hydrive 4x10 I tried it with wouldn't be my choice (bright, middly and a bit 'metallic', but very punchy) the amp certainly has a depth and warmth that I like. I bet it would be wonderful with a Barefaced Compact (or two). The EQ might not produce a wide enough variety of tones for some (the mid scoop is very noticeable) but for a simple old-school guy like me it's great. Whatever settings I dialled in with a passive P-bass were perfectly acceptable, and dare I say it, very P-bass-like, which suits me fine. I reckon I could probably live quite happily with a LH500 even minus the EQ controls, but with the tone stack and without all those damn parametric things it's right up my street. Mmm, I don't need another amp but... I really shouldn't go near music shops, or read these threads!
I've got one, great sounding amp my only slight little niggle is that it hisses but that migt only be audible due to my Berg cabs
15. My rig its a Hartke LH500 and a Bergantino HT210 and HT115 sweetest rig i've ever heard and it suits me down to the ground I love it
16.
Good point, plus the plug in the wall is the on/off switch. Easy!
haha the LH500 is a great amp, really recommend it for anyone needing a low-priced but really good sounding amp I love mine through my berg stuff
17. Ibanez sr for sure - really thin and comfortable neck
18. Awesome fretless - sounds like a fretless should which is surprising for the money
19. Got one myself - best fretless for money - incredible sound, really wahs like a fretless should
20. i don't have any money till august - grr but i so want one of those ATK400s
21. I'm so happy I got mine when I did - but I see why they went up because they're brilliant heads - bit heavy but really nice sound
22. If you were closer to brighton I would be offering now but its not to be
23.
Dont worry son, with much saving and doing lots of work around the house you may well buy one eventually, until then get on with the washing up In the mean time quit complaining, I doubt there's many here who can honestly say their first rig is a patch on yours, lucky swine, kids today, dont know they're born (fatherly rant ensues)
Yeah well times have changed since 1870, father, we have high rise buildings and well paid jobs (and cheeky swines for sons)_
