1. I've only got 218.69K on mine... I think I'll be fine...
2. So we have a Jaffa Jazz and a Nuclear Pendulla (if only it was the fretless: Nuclear Buzz would have such a good name!) Love it, how nice is it to play? One day would love to have MVP4...
3. I'd love to see how it compares to herb's one... as his does feel like a mini DB...
4. I've played that bass at Bass Direct back in 2009 too... Such a lovely bass to play! Good luck with the sale!
5.
You need to be twice as loud as the guitarist,so taking headroom into consideration an Ampeg SVT with an 8x10 is the only viable option.
not really the case...
6. you were the one who bought it. A good friend of mine was after this. Seems you beat him by a matter of hours... if you don't like it, I'll say for him first refusal!
7. Good news, After some talking about times and stuff the original bass player came back! Time to rebook the studio for next sunday now...
8.
Bass Players eh why dont you ask your dad to play
best reply ever... but he wouldn't... I would sing and play bass, but I can't play bass and sing - I just can't do it, I can play guitar and sing but not bass... hopefully we'll find a new bassist soon...
9. Just started a 80s glam band, for a laugh and all that, not that we really love the music, just cos it will be fun and all that... We were just going to our first rehearsal this sunday, all booked and ready and today the bass player (I happen to be singing) decides to walk on us saying she wasn't ever in the band despite the fact she gave us the idea to form the band and was coming up costume ideas. Really really annoying for me, the guitarist and the drummer who have learnt our parts. Especially as all the othe rbassists I know are already in bands or not interested in the idea! Sorry had to vent this on here...
10. I'd played the real thing live, I'd love to see how this ends up...
11.
On hold pending the usual
that was fast!!!
12. Urgh... what a waste. I mean the only decent bit is the headstock outline... but it could be better and would need to be on a different body...
13.
Sounds ace! Sounds like my Warwick that I'm swapping it for actually
NO you can't swap out your warwick!!!
14.
funky_numba. There seems to be a lot of utter crap on this thread. Instead of blaming it on an amp, bass, pickups, set up whatever, it is in reality all about the technique. And by this i don't just mean right hand, the left hand is just as important. On the right hand you want to really push hard on the strings to make sure your pushing the strings for all that they can give, then your left hand needs to be firm to let the note ring out propperly. Someone mentioned more treble and new strings for a funk sound? Really? Because if you look at chic/ sister sledge/ E.W.F, the strings they use are either pretty dead or flatwounds. This gives a really mellow tone which i think favours the low mids. I think at the end of the day, you should try to find a proffessional who can talk you through all this, and hopefully give advice on how to set up a bass too. I think once you have the fundamentals you can then explore how upgrading basses, pickups, and strings may help.
+1 to apart from the pushing the strings hard, I find it easiest to get a funky sound when I'm just tickling the strings. what sort of funk sound do you want? you going for the 60s sound or the 70s? I'd get yourself some DR low riders, but most importantly check your technique!!!
15.
+1 I can't help but think this whole "lets beat the X Factor to #1" thing is incredibly lame. Who cares who is #1? It means nothing these days anyway. As for Ellie, I'm not sure what she has to do with Lady Gaga, but I don't think she has anywhere near that level of talent, but then I don't think there are many women around with the musical talent that she has. Apples and oranges anyway, but I'm certainly never going to say "This is a really good cover of an Elton John song, I think I'll listen to that".
I'm sorry, what? You are seriously saying that Lady Gaga is more "talented" then Ellie Goulding? I cannot believe you can say that Lady Gaga has a) talent and more than other female artists around... Please go and listen to both, show me how Gaga is better, everything she does is manufactured pop rubbish. You can tell she's miming on stage. I'm shocked... Oh and the last year's choice of song for beating x-factor was genius, it finally showed that these stupid TV shows aren't all that music is and that some of us do have taste...
16. hmm... I can't here much tommy the cat here...
17. hmm... I'd say either a MB or a Thunderfunk...
18.
All A friend of mine in Brighton needs his old double bass fettled and valued. I'm sure I read a thread here recently that described having a new DB set up by a luthier in Brighton, but I can't find it. Did I dream it (which would be weird)? Phil
That would be my new(ish) double bass being set up I can't recommend vincent anymore!

21. Welcome to basschat, you'll like it here...
22. I tired one a few months ago in GB guitars in Brighton and I don't think I've found a jazz bass I've liked the sound of more. I honestly couldn't put it down!!! In the end it was the shop assistant saying should wrap it up for you which made me have to leave it due to no funds at the time...
23.
Get a grip the lot of you! You're nothing but sheep if you think that wreck is a 'prototype'!
if its pre-production, then it can only be a prototype. and now NO MORE talking about if its a prototype or not, it does not matter
