I bought this recently on a whim expecting it to be very useful, but frankly speaking I don’t have the patience for such technical wizardry at my age. As far as I’m aware the reviews have been very favorable and Janek Gwizdala has incorporated one into his own touring pedal board which is a serious endorsement of the unit’s capabilities. If it’s been used three times I would be surprised. Includes original box etc. This should be a good deal for someone looking to purchase a new version of this pedal as this is as box fresh a second hand version as you will probably find in the wild! £155 inc main land uk postage. £150 collected from Wigan or local to Wigan meet up. Cheers.

For Sale Origin Effects Black label 64. These pedals are absolutely fabulous, bomb proof build quality, huge tonal variety and very easy to use and manipulate on the fly. It’s easy to see why this is a particular favourite of stellar UK session bassist Rob Mullarkey. If you want some cool vintage tones without having to lug a valve amp to your gigs here’s the solution. The unit is in excellent condition and comes with manual and original box. The price is £270 inc of postage to mainland UK. Will trade for a Cali 76 compressor plus cash. Any questions please do let me know.

REDUCED FOR THE LAST TIME. HAPPY TO KEEP IF NECESSARY AS IT SOUNDS INCREDIBLE WITH FLATS!! For Sale, my as new Sandberg California VT in shell pink. This bass was purchased a few weeks ago and is stunning in every respect. I have changed the strings for Labella Low Tension flats which sound fabulous if you like that old school vintage sound. Whilst I haven’t got scales I can assure you this bass is exceptionally light. I guess it’s around 8lbs, maybe even a little lighter. Bass Direct have one in stock at the moment which is almost identical at a little under £2200 and under 8lbs in weight. I have never really been taken with aged looks but this is very subtle indeed, the description ‘soft aged’ is very apt in this case. You may wonder why I am selling this wonderful instrument. Well I am a casual player and already have a custom Alpher bass and clearly having two high quality basses is overkill in my situation. I have no interest in collecting so I have decided to let this one go even though it is only around 6 weeks old. If you like this type of look and want a virtually brand new instrument for a substantial reduction on the new price please get in touch. The bass comes with a quality gig bag but unfortunately I have no box to ship it in so it will have to be a meet up or collection to hand the bass over in person. Will consider trades for short scale basses particularly Hofner Club, Verithin or Violin Bass, Sandberg Florence JMJ Mustang, Serek, possibly a nice 5 string or lined fretless preferably with cash coming my way please. If you have any questions please do let me know. Thanks for looking.

You’re welcome, I’m glad you enjoyed listening.
-
At the moment I am listening to and enjoying Butcher Brown, the new album by Monkey House called Crashbox if you like Steely Dan you will probably like them too, The Big Galoot by King Baby with Kevin Scott on bass and the fabulous Men I Trust from Canada.
-
I saw them years ago in Leeds with TM Stevens on bass, what a gig that was.

I have just bought an Original Effects pedal from Dave, it arrived very quickly and was well wrapped. Top guy. Thanks Dave!

Ruin a Band or musician's name by replacing a single letter

To be honest I’ve experienced similar when I was playing drums in a Wigan based covers band. I only found out as someone posted photos on FB from a rehearsal the band was having with a different drummer. The band leader bass player phoned me a few days later to explain that it was nothing to do with my ability and that he had replaced me with the singer’s wife so they could do more gigs. In principle I guess the reasoning was ok but the whole process of informing me left a lot to be desired. I think the band should have changed their name from Shallow Groove to Shallow Bast***s.😂. I was annoyed for a while to be honest as I had put a lot of time and effort into getting the parts spot on including Times like These (I was the only one who could count to 7) but after a while I moved on to much better bands and more high profile gigs. I’m sorry that you have had to experience such poor manners and standards of behaviour, I would like to think that incidents such as these are few and far between but they’re probably not. All the best in your search for something better, onwards and upwards!

Hello Terry, Having had a scout around this afternoon it would seem Marcus’s bass is an early Sadowsky 5 made sometime mid to late 1980’s. These versions had 21 frets, electronics wise they were fitted with Bartolini pickups and circuit. I think you’re spot on with ref to the headstock config, the 1990 Jazz bass plus which was the first modern 5 string bass from Fender had 5 inline tuners, as opposed to Sadowsky’s 4+1.
-
I just looked at the headstock shape and control layout and felt it was more than likely a Sadowsky. It’s a bit frustrating that the video is not very clear.
-
Yes I agree, very strange, the video isn’t clear but when you realise the drummer is Omar Hakim and the guitar player Hiram Bullock, two of Marcus’s close friends it can’t be anyone else other than him, plus he played on the bulk of Spellbound along with Nathan East so it all seems to make sense.

I thought I had seen and heard Marcus playing a Sadowsky 5 string, check this out. Pretty sure he used this same bass on High Life by Wayne Shorter. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1705956527472114&surface_type=vod&referral_source=vod_newsfeed_unit
