  1. I didn’t TBH, when I watch this clip there’s so much going on I’m just trying to comprehend what the hell he’s doing. I wouldn’t have noticed the pre, maybe I’m just not that detail orientated 😂
  2. Undoubtedly one of the most underrated bass players on the planet, and one of the best. I saw him a few years ago with The Sunburst Band and he was sensational. All the stuff he performed with Incognito is also a must listen, the best of all their bass players IMHO.
  3. I have already mentioned Marcus Miller as my number 1 but it was a hard choice. For those of you who have never come across a band called Sixun, the guy in the video Michel Alibo is Sixun’s bass player. Originating from Martinique he settled in France and was a founding member of the band . A huge influence on me, but sadly virtually unknown in the UK. Jo Zawinul from Weather Report recruited several members of bands based in France including drummer Paco Sery from Sixun and bassist Etienne Mbappe from Ultramarine, eventually replacing Mbappe with another French based bass player Linley Marthe an absolutely exceptional talent. You might want to check these players out if you’re curious. Here’s Michel playing some frankly ridiculous bass to Sixun’s track Djoudjou. Hope you enjoy it and find some new inspiration.
  4. Awesome bass, I was in the shop with you and Gaz when you decided to buy this. I must admit I had my eye on it as well but I have never managed to stick with a 5 string. Good luck, hope you’re enjoying the M bass it’s a beauty. Cheers, Mark.
  5. ‘Human Synths’ by the amazing Horn House. Bass duties are performed by Laurence Cottle, Stefan Redtenbacher, Nichol Thomson and Nathan King. An absolutely fantastic pop album with some of the best horn section playing you will ever hear.
  6. Marcus Miller for me, closely followed by Michel Alibo.
  7. Hello Brian, I’m very sorry to hear about your predicament. I would like to send my very best wishes for your future health and for the sale of your lovely bass. All the best, Mark.
  8. Thank you Billybass. I love the sound of the GK, it’s an incredible piece of kit. However I have a damaged right arm and the combo is just a bit too bulky to carry around comfortably. It’s far from heavy but I have a preference for something smaller if possible.
  9. Does anyone have a Mark Bass combo or similar that they would like to trade? Must be in excellent condition. Cheers.
  10. I recently bought this excellent GK Legacy 800 watt combo to fulfill a specific gigging requirement which hasn’t materialised. It has been used a couple of times for practice only. Make no mistake this is a full on pro quality gigging combo which is load enough to shake the foundations of my house if I turn it up past half way which I haven’t tried to do yet. It has a full feature set included and a very useable drive section which can be controlled by the supplied footswitch. I believe the model I bought was discontinued new old stock and the new versions have a metal grill instead of a nylon front cover. Nevertheless the rrp on my amp was well over £1000. I sported a version online with a 12inch speaker which is listed at £900 plus, so hopefully this will be a bargain for someone. Please see full specs below. The Legacy 800 amplifier on its own sells in the UK for £850 so this should be a real bargain for someone. Buy it, connect a second GK cab and play whatever venue you want to. 😀 My preference is to trade this for a combo of similar quality that’s a little more portable and still useable for small gigs. Please see specs below. Please note that this combo was made in the US and is built like a tank, it is in MINT CONDITION. Any questions please ask away. Come and try it if you’re local. 11. I forgot to add that I bought a German made Sadowsky a couple of months ago as an early 60th birthday treat from a well known retail chain. It had the MM/J configuration and a rare Snakewood top. The price was close to £3500. When the bass arrived I noticed during the unpacking process a disclaimer that the top was prone to cracking. There was no mention of this on the retailer’s website. When I checked the bass itself I noticed a couple of cracks which were pretty unsightly. The bass was duly returned and my money refunded. Despite this I wouldn’t be put off considering another Sadowsky Metro but at the price point there are a number of other options I would also consider instead. That being said it would take something special to beat my Japanese 2018 MetroExpress which is stunning. Thanks to Will at BassBros for looking after me!
  12. AFAIAA if you are referring to distance selling regulations the item also needs to be in the same cosmetic condition that it was supplied in, and the purchaser is also liable for the cost of the return shipping. Good luck either way!
  13. Mike recently bought my Fender Rumble combo. The transaction went exactly as we’d agreed via our PM’s which was great as I was out of the country working at the time of collection. Fabulous buyer, highly recommended. Thanks Mike!
  14. I have just picked up a tobacco burst mint condition Japanese Metro Express and it’s absolutely awesome. I have played and owned a number of Jazz basses including Fender, Sandberg, Xotic to name just a few and this is hands down the best playing and sounding Jazz bass I have played.
  15. I would like to sell my Fender Rumble 100 combo which looks as new. It’s around a year old and has never been out of my practice room. Most of you will know of the excellent reputation these amps have and it’s well deserved. This is an ideal amp for practice, rehearsal and small gigs and in this condition will not be commonplace. I can’t see a scratch or blemish anywhere on the unit. Comes with instruction booklet, a fitted padded cover and a power lead. I haven’t got a box to post but any prospective buyer is welcome to collect, tea and coffee will be provided. Alternatively as I travel with work I can meet up within a reasonable distance of Wigan. I am not looking at trades thanks just a straight sale please. Sensible offers considered.
  16. GLWTS, I reckon North of £5k is more accurate since the new crop of Evolution 4’s Bass Direct have received seem to all be in the £4 - 4.5 k range. When you think about it these are just as good as anything out there and are definitely more hand made than their most direct competition and sit at a significantly lower price point than that brand.
  17. It was a natural Ash 4 string Combustion.
  18. Very nice, GLWTS.
  19. I traded a Dingwall bass into Will who was excellent to deal with, knowledgeable and fair with his price. I wouldn’t hesitate to do business with him again.
  20. I have reluctantly decided to re list my fantastic Elrick Evo Gold 4 string bass after an initial change of heart. It is by a country mile the best bass I have owned, but it is far too much for what I need. I play mainly at home and have come to the realization that I don’t need one of the world’s best bass guitars to do what I do. Bought only a couple of months ago it’s impossible to distinguish this guitar from a new version, it is literally in pristine condition. The action is set medium low and it plays and sounds like a dream been through my Fender Rumble. Please see some info on the spec below which has several significant upgrades. Ideally I prefer a straight sale but I will accept a partial trade for a bass of lesser value plus cash. The bass comes with an Elrick TKL case and tools. Please note that the a similar version of this bass with a lower spec is currently available at a well known UK retailer for well over 4k. The bass weighs in at a startling 3.2 kg or just over 7lbs in old money. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Partial trade wise I am looking for something lightweight in a Jazz style or similar with at least £1000 coming my way please. I’m not really interested in a straight trade for another instrument as I would like a more utilitarian bass. This is more suited to a gigging pro bass player which I’m not. Also if you have a really nice light ish Fender Jazz or super jazz then please let me know. Cheers.
