1.
no link bro
Whoopsie. The second link should contain pictures. If not. I'll fix it when I get home from work. Thanks for the heads up.
2. Up for trade is my lovely Carvin LB75P. Only trading as my custom Larkin basically has all the features of this so it\'s surplus to requirements. Mahogany body with maple through neck 24 fret ebony fretboard Flamed maple top with matching headstock J + MM pickups with coil tap Piezo saddles with individual trim pots 3 band EQ with passive option String through bridge 18v power with battery boxes Carvin hardcase It\'s in excellent condition with a few minor dings. Here are a few photos taken with a flash that kinda show a more realistic representation of the actual colour of it: http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee332/c...an/DSC00045.jpg http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee332/c...an/DSC00041.jpg http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee332/c...an/DSC00040.jpg http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee332/c...an/DSC00038.jpg As for what trades in interested in, maybe a nice fretless 4 or 5 or a fretted 5 unless is was a jazz, where i\'d like a 4. Actually, not sure what I want so just try me with something music related and worst I can say is no:) I\'ll hopefully be able to get nicer pictures soon. Any questions? Just ask. Cheers, John
3. www.ibanez.com/BassGuitars/Series-gvb Spacing on this looks tight. Probably very expensive and hard to find though.
4. Nice. Looks to be a copy of an Elrick New jazz standard. Good price too:)
5.
Is it possible to fit a bridge ashtray cover to this?
Nope. The badass bridge is too big.
6. Any interest in a Carvin LB75P? It's red, fretted and you can see crappy phone pics here: www.photobucket.com/cgordonfreemanbongo It has magnetic and piezo pickups, 3 band eq, coil tap and active/passive switch. Cheers.
7. Hi Chris, it's a shame you didn't get on with the bass. Just a quick note, the pickups are actually EMG Hz, not Aero as stated in the specs. Have a bump.
8. Nice! I love white basses myself. I've a newer model LB75 and it's a quality bass with a lovely neck to boot. Congrats to Mrs 7 for winning the bid:)
9. Wow, that Basslab is different. What's the idea of the angled last fret? Or is it a fret? Welcome to Basschat by the way.
10. Wow that's nice. Love the look of neck through wenge with the contrasting body wings.
11. This should help: Top notch build quality, lovely neck, nice sound.
12. Have a search and maybe send them a PM for info. Cheers, John
13. How about a nice off white like this?

They're something like 10 grand and only 20 were made.
15.
Ahh nice one! Incase anyone else is interested, my bands page is www.myspace.com/sylosis (were metal by the way)
Nice bass. I own a Japanese ESP and they're cracking basses. Have a bump.
16.
This wonderfull awsome bravo well done can you tell us the nut width and the bridge spacing ? if i may ask the price or give us a website for more reference.. cheers
Hi, not sure of the exact width at the out but it seems to be pretty much the same as my Bongo 5. The string spacing is 19mm which is my personal preference. I'm sure Chris would accommodate you if you wanted different spacing. I'll pm you on pricing...
17.
No coil tap or series/parallel option ? You were short-changed there.
I've owned basses with those switches before and I never made use of them. Plus, i think I like the aesthetics without them:)
18.
First, what an absolutely stunning instrument - wow, I've been massively impressed with Chris' work but this is without doubt one of the most aesthetically wonderful examples of his work. Second, on the ebony board, Alembic warn of the fret 'protrusion' possibility and indicate that there's a likelihood that fret ends will need to be filed within about a year of purchase.
Thanks:) I've more detail shots in this thread as there was a limit to the number of pictures i could post: www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=626335
19.
+1 Wonderful workmanship..the neck joint and binding particularly!
I was impressed with the binding myself. Chris explained to me that in his opinion all Ebony boards should be bound as changes in humidity and temperature can cause fret ends to stick out so to avoid sharp bits binding is needed.
20. Hi all, A couple of months back I posted a thread about a new bass my girlfriend bought me for Christmas from Chris Larkin (www.chrislarkinguitars.com), a local luthier in Ireland. Well, I finally got a chance to collect it so here it is: The Specs: Lightweight Utile mahogany body Carved black korina top Satin lacquer finish Hard maple neck w/sapele stringers and graphite reinforcements 35" Scale 24 fret Ebony fingerboard bound in Ebony Dunlop 6100 frets Custom wound Kent Armstrong pickups (single coil neck/humbucking bridge) Ebony pickup covers Custom John East U-Retro preamp Hipshot bridge w/RMC piezo saddles Schaller tuners I've never played, nevermind owned a custom bass bass before so all I can say is wow! It is the smoothest feeling bass I've ever played. The neck is nice and fast playing without being too thin with an incredibly smooth finish and the Ebony board feels like glass. The bass is lovely and light, not sure how light but definately lighter than my Bongo an a Valenti I owned. When I saw that the body was made of Mahogany I assumed it would weigh a ton but I asked Chris and he said he always uses a lightweight mahogany. The body is also smaller than it looks in the pictures and sits nicely on a strap or your lap. The electronics are mind boggling! It's a John East U-Retro that has been customised. Starting from the stacked knob by the bridge pickup, the controls are: Master volume (top) Magnetic/piezo balance (bottom) Treble cut/boost w/bright switch (top) Bass boost (bottom) Mid cut/boost (top) Mid frequency (bottom) Piezo Magnetic balance Passive tone w/active / passive switch Needless to say it's very flexible tonal and i'm sure I haven't come close to experiencing all the options it has. I also had a look around his workshop but I forgot to take pictures. He had a few very nice instruments in stock including a 5-String bolt on 'Syra' model, a gorgeous jazz guitar and his own personal electric guitar. He showed me an impressive flying V bass he was working on. It was neck through with a flamed maple top where the flame was arranged in an arrow shape. The V motif was continued with v shared pickup routes which were going to be for custom v shaped guitar P90s and a route for a v shaped tail piece. The bass was very light and the neck felt very manageable. Have a look at the pics and any opinions welcome and questions will be answered. Cheers, John
21. Sadly with Musicman the only options you can choose are colour and pickup configuration. The only way you can get fancy tops etc is if they're doing a special factory run or something.
22. Chris bought my Iturra 5 String. I had no problems at all and I felt secure enough to send the bass before payment was made. Communication was always swift and I didn't mind that he was from Wales either;) Nice one Chris! John.
