1. Hi, Fancy this? basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=88335
 2.
Ho, I can add that this bass was mine some times ago, and this one was made on my specifications. Cause I had the chance to work in japan for some months and was working with the friend of a luthier working in the Custom dept of Ibanez. (reason for this creation) I required the same as Benny Rietvield (Santana bass player with some modifications : quilted maple / benny's one is flammed maple and would like to add piezzo for more tonal acoustic character) Very good bass IMO. I know someone looking to a custom Ibanez, I will contact him and let you know John.
Thanks Chris! It's in great condition. I've never gigged it as I've never had the opportunity to since I got it but noodling at home you can get a variety of nice tones.
 3. Just to clarify, Ibanez don't sell custom shop instruments directly to the public, you have to be an endorsing artist to get your hands on one and as such their custom shop basses are very rare. Google Ibanez custom shop bass and you'll see what I mean. The quality of materials used is top notch. For example, the mahogany is just as nice as is used on my Chris Larkin custom and the quilt top is pretty '3D' looking. A few details that I forgot to put in my first post: 19mm String spacing, 35inch scale, Dual truss rods. I'll also include shipping anywhere in Europe. Ideally i'd prefer Bank Transfer for payment as I don't have a credit card so can't fully activate my Paypal account but if you wanted to use Paypal and were happy to send payment to a friend of mine, that could be arranged too. Cheers, John
 4. Hello all, Up for sale is my Ibanez BTB PQM 2 custom shop bass. One of two made, the other one made for Santanas bass player. The specs are: Mahogany body, 5 piece maple/bubinga neck, Pao Ferro fretboard, Quilted maple top w/accent, Matching headstock, Bartolini pickups, Piezo pickups in bridge, Custom Fishman preamp, Individual trimpots for piezos, Black Chrome hardware. It comes with a gig bag, not hardcase as pictured but it will be well packed. Price: €800 Any questions? Just ask. Cheers, John
 5. I owned one of their 6 strings before. Nice bass. Comfy neck, good balance and the ESH-tronics are pretty cool. That was one of the older models though so I'd say try before you buy.
 6. Hello all, Up for trade is an EBS Microbass II in great condition apart from one tiny nick that it has on the side of it. i'll post pics when I have a chance. This is only a feeler as it's a great bit of kit that I'm not that sure I want to lose. It's been gigged once and rehearsed with twice but every time it's sat on my amp and not the floor. I'm interested in trades for some kind of recording interface. Nothing too fancy (although I could put some cash towards something nice), just a couple of inputs and a USB interface. Maybe firewire but I'm not too sure Iwhether firewire works on my PC as it's selfbuilt and I've never used it. One caveat: The interface must work on Windows XP. At the moment I have a Digidesign Digi 001 but I can't get it to work for some reason or another through no fault of the guy I bought it from on here. That's about it for now. If you need pictures, i can provide them, just give me a day or two. All the best, John PS: I might trade it for another effect type thingy. Try me.
 7.
Very cool guitar... it's the guitar version of my bass, basically, and I sort of wanted one for a while but never had the energy to learn how to badly play another instrument. Can we see some more pics of it? I remember seeing the pics you have attached on eBay or something whilst I have been exploring the net for graphite necked Vigiers! Cheers ped
Ya, I'll get new pics up soon enough. The ones I have up are from the previous owner before the guy I got it from so it could have been on eBay. I only traded the Carvin for it cos it was such an unusual guitar. Must learn how to play it now...
 8.
P.S. Does this mean I'm the only Carvin owner on Basschat now???!!!!
Pretty sure anyone who has one is trying to sell them for one reason or another. I'd love an SB5000 but can't justify one. Yet...
 9.
Very Nice indeed I bet the sustain is something else, I bet some Stanley Jorden would sound great on it.
To be honest I haven't even heard it plugged into an amp yet. I just tested that there was a signal from the preamp by plugging it into a tunes. Next week I'm taking delivery of a combo from www.ratvalveamps.com so that'll be the real test. I never heard of Stanley Jordan before but after a bit of Youtubing his stuff seems cool. Nice version of Stairway to Heaven. Cheers, John
 10.
You should contact Vigier - they may have some old spare parts & be able to supply you with the correct trem arm.
I already contacted Vigier but unfortunately they don't stock them anymore...
 11.
They're very uncommon, where did you find it? The trem bar bit can be drilled out of the hole if its done carefully. You'll probably need to get one made but its not difficult. Get some stainless steel rod, cut and bend it to shape and tap the right thread on the end. Someone here might even be able to do it for you.
I saw it on sale on Jemsite and asked the seller would they trade for my Carvin LB75P, which they did. It's in very good for a 20 year old guitar and according to Vigier it's a collectors piece. With regards the trem bar, it's not actually broken off inside the trem unit, it's just in two pieces so I'll have to get a collectors new one made somewhere. Cheers.
 12. Have a look on www.clc.ie in the bass gallery section. Some nice ones there including a 6 String acoustic made for the bassist from Jethro Tull. Give Chris a shout. I'm sure he'd be happy to discuss a few ideas with you.
 13. Here's my new (to me) Vigier Passion III guitar that I got in a trade for my Carvin: I can barely play guitar but this is one of the nicest guitars I've ever played. Specs: Graphite through neck, Flamed maple body wings, Benedetti pickups, Custom ball bearing based locking trem with fine tuners at the nut, 6 position 18v parametric mid control I've never played a graphite neck before and I'm liking this one. It's fast without being pencil thin and gives great upper fret access. The body is tiny and really light. Much smaller than a strat and its contours are very comfortable. The only issue with it is the trem bar is a screw in jobbie and two-thirds of the bit that screws in is broken off and I don't really want to risk using it. I contacted Vigier but they don't stock them anymore. Does anyone know where I might find one? Haven't measured it exactly but looks 5 or 6mm in diameter along the non threaded bit and apparently a lot of Jap guitars have ones that might fit. Anyway, enough rambling. Cheers, John
 14.
Do you mean VT2? Same applies, pick the bass version if you want it for guitar as well. All my pedals have the same core sound. Dave
Cool. Ya, that's the one I meant alright:) I'd imagine with the overdrive + distortion modes you'd be able to get most dirty tones you'd need. I think i'll get the custom version from you in a few weeks. How much would shipping be to Ireland? Cheers, John
 15. Thanks for the quick reply Dave. Would any of the bass VH2 pedals be suitable or would you recommend one over another? Can you get the same core sound with all 3 of them? Cheers, John
 16. Hi Dave, A quick question for you. I'm gonna get a single ended low watt valve amp for guitar soon and I'm looking for a pedal that'll pump a good bit of gain through it. Think tubescreamer but for metal as well as rock. I was just wondering if you had a pedal that could throw a lot of gain into a small valve amp and could then be used to dirty up a valve pre based bass amp with the flick of a switch. Not sure if such a pedal would be practical for you but I was wondering if such a thing existed. Thanks for your time, John
 17. Bump for trades. Basses, guitars, guitar amps, effects, recording gear etc. Just try me!
 18.
Er... I was about to add, i think i'd go for a HS next time - the HH is pretty tight up around the neck for slappa da bass. But, i don't think i want to be here anymore.
Could be wrong but I think the distance from the neck to the neck pickup on both the HS and HH is the same. Personally I find my HH a bit tricky to slap on but after a bit of practice it's cool.
 19.
what is it with them stupid plastic knobs. The bongo has them too i think? I tried out a bongo and would never have bought it just because of the wee annoying plastic knobs
To my knowledge the knobs on the bongo are made out of aluminium which is why the feel lighter than usual. Could be wrong though...
 20.
I have a late 90's Carvin LB75 and it's a great bass (posted a review in the relevant section today). If you're after a quality 5 string this Carvin could surprise you.
Thanks 7String. That white beauty looks very nice indeed. It's interesting to see how the LB series has evolved throughout it's lifetime isn't it? Bump for trades!
