1. Hi all, Up for sale is my Chris Larkin 5B custom. The Specs: Lightweight Utile mahogany body Carved black korina top Satin lacquer finish Hard maple neck w/sapele stringers and graphite reinforcements 35" Scale 24 fret Ebony fingerboard bound in Ebony Dunlop 6100 frets Custom wound Kent Armstrong pickups (single coil neck/humbucking bridge) Ebony pickup covers Custom John East U-Retro preamp Hipshot bridge w/RMC piezo saddles Schaller tuners I've never played, nevermind owned a custom bass bass before so all I can say is wow! It is the smoothest feeling bass I've ever played. The neck is nice and fast playing without being too thin with an incredibly smooth finish and the Ebony board feels like glass. The bass is lovely and light, not sure how light but definately lighter than my Bongo an a Valenti I owned. When I saw that the body was made of Mahogany I assumed it would weigh a ton but I asked Chris and he said he always uses a lightweight mahogany. The body is also smaller than it looks in the pictures and sits nicely on a strap or your lap. The electronics are mind boggling! It's a John East U-Retro that has been customized. Starting from the stacked knob by the bridge pickup, the controls are: Master volume (top) Magnetic/piezo balance (bottom) Treble cut/boost w/bright switch (top) Bass boost (bottom) Mid cut/boost (top) Mid frequency (bottom) Piezo Magnetic balance Passive tone w/active / passive switch Included in sale: The bass Harley Benton flight case ( structurally perfect, there's a pin missing from the handle, so doesn't work very well) Schaller Straplocks I'm not interested in any trades, this is a cash only deal. The price is €1500 (Euro, not GBP) I would rather have someone collect it (I'm in Ireland), but could arrange postage, too. Any questions? Just ask! Cheers.
 2. Just sold my Ibanez Custom to Charles and everything went smoothly. I was a bit apprehensive selling to a brand new member with one post but Charles paid very quickly and kept great communication. I was delayed sending the bass but Charles was very understanding and an all round nice guy. I'd have no problem dealing with Charles in the future. Cheers, John

 5.
Thanks mate. Good idea, I'll ask Chris. So you'd ship the bass in a gig bag? Do you think that's enough? I know by experience that the travel can be pretty hectic. ^^ Cheers, Paul (from France actually).
I got it from Finland in a gig bag:) Granted, the neck was removed from the body and everything was well packed. I could do the same. Cheers, John
 6.
Beautiful bass. I remember drooling over the pictures of this bass when Buddha was selling it, long time ago indeed. How does it sound? I really like the sound of high-end Ibanez like the SR-Prestige (well, the older ones, when they had Ibanez-made pickups and not Barts'). I might be interested who knows. I'll see. ^^ Thanks.
Hi, This'll sound very cliched for someone trying to sell a bass but it sounds very versatile, ranging from zingy hi-fi to a very old school P-bass type of thing. The combo of the magnetic and piezo makes it very versatile. To be honest, i've no experience gigging or recording with it so maybe the best thing to do would be PM flychris (the original owner) and ask his experience with it? Cheers, John
