If it were me , I wouldn't have told them I'm not doing the gig . I would've just ignored any contact with them and moved on . They're history now , Enjoy the chase to find your ideal band .,

Going through a life evaluation again . Haven't been in a band for over 10 years , but have a few basses. When I lived in my last place , I had basses on the wall and in the living room . I had an 8 string , a 5 , 6 , string , a telecaster bass , dean taxi bass , a steinberger full body bass , and a fretless . Nearly forgot the jack Daniels bass. Falling on hard times a few years ago, I trimmed the herd and thought I'd miss the telecaster especially , but tbh it was heavy and the band members were not too keen on its muddy ness .My first proper bass after learning on a tree copy of a precision was a Washburn status which I still have moving into a small flat , I bought a fretless / headless from a basschatter and a Warwick corvette standard . I put basses on walls. The jack Daniels is staying in the living room. The Dean taxi bass is staying in the bedroom . I have got into bad habits by keeping basses as ornaments and not bothering with them . This has to stop . I have sold the steinberger subject to the usual today . One of my friends says keep it , but I've already got a headless and a headless fretless . What will probably happen is I'll carry on trimming the herd .I like the look of mint or surf green basses. What I may end up doing next year is getting rid of most of my basses and have a mustang or stingray old smoothie or something . One thing that's annoying in a small flat is having loads of gig bags , when I'm not even gigging . Back when I first started gigging and learning I had 3 basses which was enough . The vester fretless, Washburn status and a hohner cricket bat . They were not on display and were used regularly .Must resist thinking about the green basses for now ..

Strange the way the world has changed so much in a relatively short time growing up I used to love football and heavy metal . Metal was always seen as the underdog of music and often ridiculed . I remember reading shoot magazine , and the subject of shirt sponsorship before it got to where it is now . Now you have Metallica ( metallicorp ) , and maiden who are absolutely massive . Great bands no complaints . I always knew maiden would be massive since seeing them at the marquee , music machine etc sane with Metallica . But tbh , never knew these bands would be this big , and metal in general . Having said all that , I'm bored of football now and refuse to pay to watch it ,especially with the likes of saddo berhanino/ sanchez and a lot more mercenaries who get paid way too much and decide if they can be bothered to play or not . Plus you have the managers who lose the dressing room..you get the picture .. Fair play to stevie tho who is living the dream , and doing his bit for the club ..

Being a semi novice recording wise, I'm curious of the novation launchpad mini, which can be used on iPad and Mac . Not wanting to shell out full price, I just purchased the mark 2 version for £38.09 instead of £68. One of the reasons for this is because the mk 3 version has just been released .my thinking is that if I get on with the mk 2, I'll try and get a similar deal this time next year ...

Thanks bass assassin . If there was a way of swapping that unit with a steinberger one I would . The steinberger ones come up on ebay a lot of the time ,but I have a feeling that if I got one it wouldn't fit . I'm wondering if I took it to a tech, whether it would be expensive to repair and would it be a permanent fix in a good way, or whether they may dissemble it and spray lubricant and I'd have same problem further down the line. Its not my main bass , but it is the lightest .

There's nothing to say really , as the posts above and below sum everything up you have managed to stand back and assess what's right for you . Enjoy the time off Lozz and at least you know now that you will feel better doing things on your terns , whatever you decide what to to and how you're doing it . all the best 😼

Howdy! I have a nice custom made fretless purchased from a basschatter and all was good until the tuners couldn't turn anymore and I could not get the bass back to standard tuning . I sprayed some dw40 to no avail the a string snapped . I'm wondering if it's best to give it in to a repairers or is it something like a washer could be needed? The tuning system is more like a kubicki with the ' wheels' by the bridge but steinberger type tuners also,. please advise if you can Thanks

That oldschool thash metal bass sound
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to isteen's topic in General Discussion
FWIW , I thought at the time that the bass of dd verni ( overkill ) had the best cutting twangy sound from the '80's thrash era. You could actually hear it cutting through . Could be wrong , but I would think active bass makes a difference . You wouldn't get that sound on a telecaster bass for example . I have the demanufacture cd from fear factory which also may appeal . On a slight tangent , I managed to find the drivers to my line 6 toneport ux1 which features pod farm line 6 . There are loads of presets for guitar more than bass, but the sound you want is on that . great for home noodling on your computer . Maybe the sounds would be available on the bass pod ? Not too expensive . -
FS Steinberger bass (not a Spirit)-withdrawn
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to wombatboter's topic in Basses For Sale
These earlier steinbergers have that professional sound which is a step up from the hohner copies and probably the spirit models which I haven't tried . Built like a tank , and great for public transport ..and for keeping the drummer happy without poking his eye out. Nice shape for metal great price too ..😼 -
