Love rush ..and indeed prime Motรถrhead . I would imagine that'd sound great on 5.1 especially moving pictures . Levitation would sound fantastic . Unfortunately I'm on the ground flr with large bay windows . We live in a disposable world now , with gadgetry improving and space saving ideas for the likes of me . Keeping one eye open is the best way for me I guess ๐บ

I had the nad back in the day . Brilliant amps !๐

Hmmm... good point . The only things though , are that I don't have a huge dvd collection . plus I live in a small flat ๐พ I'm open to change though ..

I love these threads . There are always pros and cons , for and against which format is seen to be best . Many tangents . I still have a fair bit of vinyl , but way less than when CDs first came on the scene . We all know that when cds first came out , they were bloomin ' expensive . They were in ADD DDD etc and DDD was at the time said to be the best quality . A lot of bands rushed out awful quality like Black sabbaths castle communications stuff which was appallingly bad . The annoying thing about being a fanboy of music is that cds were being made with extra tracks not on vinyl . The sound quality and mastering improved . I of course started selling my vinyl and buying the cd equivalents over the years . I found the original pressings of albums from hawkwind and sabbath were far and away much better than the later pressings . Tangerine dream and klaus Schulze sound much better on cd as there is no frying bacon sounds or clicks etc . Just my opinion of course . The album covers from those bands are grear though . In the '90s I noticed that the stones had their original albums made on cd the way the vinyl was . Sticky fingers for example has the zip! The price for those was around ยฃ8 . Far less than when cds first arrived . In terms of my stereo setup , I too started on the dual cs505 turntable. My best CD player at the time was a Philips one which I would've kept but the price in repairing it wasn't worth doing . I have a nackamichi 5cd player which is close enough . I always swear by heavy speaker cable . Back in the mid '90s I had a rega planar 2 turntable . However a friend knew of a possible pink triangle ( which needed a new arm ) may be available . I still have it , and it is heavier than Gemma Collins . More punch than Tyson etc Having said all of that , and living in a small flat I often think if it's worth keeping all the vinyl . I will always purchase cds . I think the only annoying thing about cds are the digipacks ., Too bulky which will decompose in time I have paid my dues to the record industry many times over . Most of us have . I have transferred a lot of my cds to my hard drive . Pita and time consuming The quality on I phone is great if you have decent headphones . However, I have started buying cheap downloads of albums which is very good quality and saves me a lot of hassle these days . I'm still paying , so that's ok . As I am old and been around the block , I'm beginning to avoid expensive rip offs unless there really is something of value . I sold my metallica lightning box set as it was gathering dust and I have their best albums on Japanese imports which to me is a great sound . I sold the binge and purge video box set as that will be released again within the next 5 years . I sold my slayer box set . What was funny about those is that the sponge evaporated and they were unplaced for many years . I still have the tangerine dream '70-'80 box set , but have purchased the latest cd box sets as they are not too expensive, look cool and have unreleased stuff. I could be wrong , but if you buy legitimate downloads , it still belongs to Apple for example . If you buy the cd it is yours. Plus you can put it on your hard drive . One other thing : living in a small flat ..some of those soundbars and speakers are improving . Not there yet , but not far off of true stereo sound . Naim muso for example . If a soundbar ever matches a stereo I may sell vinyl , stereo etc and just get that . My tv goes through my stereo which is great for watching you tube etc . For music DVDs I don't know if I should buy downloads of them for space and convenience . Anyway, I'll leave it there ..

Ok , it's a true German Warwick and I like it . Why am I putting this up for sale? I like bright lairy basses to look at such as yellow and green! I play this a lot indoors in my pet and smoke free flat . ๐โ I used to own a fender telecaster bass a few years back .What is catching my eye is the Mexican fender player series that I stumbled across by accident over the last couple of days . They have a precision in yellow . Correct me if I'm wrong , but for the money they go for now that colour is like a custom colour and I doubt if they will be around for very long . Back to the Warwick : purchased 2 and a half years ago from a top basschatter . He changed the pickups to EMG.The original pickups are included in the sake of course. I have done nothing and left the contents into the packs that you see in the pictures . Plus some polish left in the tin .Strap locks and strap included As I say , nothing wrong with the Warwick except the tiniest ding on top of the headstock that looks a million miles worse when photographed . I don't mind if I have to keep it , but I don't gig and just record efforts on soundcloud . This growly sounding bass๐would be much more appreciated in a live setting .Yes...it's good for metal ! Now , here's the thing : I want to keep the gig bag , and if I purchase the other bass then I would send the Warwick in same packaging but more bomb proof wrapppng probably added. postage will be extra. If you have a yellow / green bass that I've mentioned then we can talk. Based in Poole . Feet not included ๐ฃ uk buyers only I'm afraid . Thanks for checking it out ๐ผ

Rip. Lucky to see him at knebworth in '85. Great day out . Ironically, due to my similar stature , hair style and love of all things stu Hamm , my guitarist friend named me West Ham . Some things just stick ..

Wow! That is very distant . Never expected anyone to see that ๐ธ

Ha! Well spotted .. ๐ธ

Pretty groovy ! I have album sleeves in the hallway. I took albums out of the sleeves due to possible condensation issues living in a small flat. My frames are not as good quality as these tho ๐ผ

Recording desks and storage ...
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in Recording
Update : after more procrastination, I seem to have finally found solutions to the issues that I have / had . I took a gamble and ordered a fold up table from the Amazon . plus I have a laptop stand on its way for the mixer , which has bend discontinued but is the perfect fit for it . It's criminal really the ltd amount of time I've spent on the Moog grandmother . I can now get my finger out and have no more excuses . Tbh, I fell in love with it when it came out and after many years of being broke I purchased it on Black Friday 2018 a few months after moving into this flat . I also purchased a few of those cheapie mini effect pedals from gear for music around the same time . Anyway, here are some pics : The pipes will be boxed in by builder after Christmas and walls will need painting etc The fender amps are not actual amps . They're seats -
Coming along nicely.. The dog and the green bass look out of place though , and would be better suited to my home ๐ผ

He just purchased a Behringer mixer from myself. Instant payment , and a really nice guy. Top Man!

Recording desks and storage ...

Thanks for the input so far . Tbh I'm far from professional as you know , so I just like the idea of having everything in one corner . I live in a small flat and space is a premium . ( The drawbacks of living mortgage free I guess ) I do like the the computer desk I have which I purchased from Beales which has been closed down this year ๐ฟ. In hindsight ( and if I knew I'd get a moog grandmother ) I would have purchased 2 which would have catered for more or less everything . I do like the shelf underneath the glass top, I am constantly looking at perhaps a desk that would be of similar height that would go next to it . I don't like those studio desks either Ramirez , also because those pull out drawers are not for me . I like the mouse etc on the same level. I have a sideboard which has lots of bass effects . I do wonder when we can do away with desktops . If reason full software was on iPad then I'd sell the iMac etc . Keep suggestions coming ... -

This space almost worked but too narrow . -
Howdy ! Followiing on from my recent recording posts and the addition of more equipment , I thought I'd ask for help and also see what you use when you record your stuff . When I moved into my smaller flat a couple of years ago, I bought new furniture along with a nice adequate ( at the time ) computer desk. However since buying a moog a couple of years ago and now a mixer , I don't know whether it is best to offload the desk that I have and buy a proper ( hopefully not too expensive ) recording desk . The set up is in my box room ( spare bedroom ) . I have a sideboard littered with effects units etc on the other side of the room . I have been procrastinating for a very long time . I even had the desk in the front room at one stage . I thought about getting a Mac mini and having everything in there . I looked at a few recording desks , but they have those drawers used for computer keyboards which I'm not too keen on . Since lockdown started , I've been using chunky equipment and the mixing desk I have is a bit bigger 5han the line 6 interface I have . Anyway, here's a pic or 2 of the desk in question

Howdy! I have had the above for a few years, but never used it . Since lockdown , I've been getting my finger out and using various Gadgets etc and decided to get a usb mixer and let this go . As you can see, I have the original power supply but no box . Based in Poole , you can either collect or I'll post .

Thanks Mike . I met up with my local friend for a coffee a couple of days ago. He has loads of keyboards and modern equipment etc . The next thing you know, I have listened to his advice and ordered a behriger usb mixer and a few midi leads . I of course asked him to send me links as to what he recommends . Thomann are sending the above , and I should receive midweek . I'll update when I hopefully get my head around it all ... in the meantime , I'm selling my old unused mixer in the sell other musica items thread ..

Wow! This brings back memories . When I was about 7/8 ( no pun intended ๐ผ) my family moved home , and the gramophone that I was using disappeared in transit . Something like that, it was a very long time ago obviously . what I do remember though, are records from Bill Grundy, Laurel and Hardy , colonel bogeys March and a couple of others I cannot remember . The Bill Grundy song was called "yours sincerely " . The Laurel and Hardy song was an army type song with lots of talking from Stan Laurel . The gramophone itself, was covered in sellotape . Lots of needles . When I used to explore various record shops at various lunchtimes in London ,in the 90s I did notice a place near the British Museum that had lots of cheaply old jazz records and 78s . Used to always have the records outside the premises rather than inside . I grew out of 78s by then so no use to me. Nit sure of their worth unless you have an elvis original. maybe checkout someone who sells stuff on market stalls / car boot sales etc?
