RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE

Thanks again Bartleby. Yeah , the more I see about the mother 32 , the less enticing it seems . Thankfully , I have the grandmother which is the most expensive . Lockdown has managed to get my head around it . The subharmonicon is the dearest out of the other 3 . The way you just mentioned the setup sounds like the way to go . This seems like my moog setup would be complete . I was looking at minitaur for a few years , but it seems that the when I got the grandmother I didn't need it . Now that the subharmonicon is released , that would do the low end job anyway .

Well, another thought has popped into my head .. As I already have the dfam, I would only need the mother 32 ( or su harmonic on ) The mother has a midi socket and is slightly cheaper . Obviously , if I did that it would be an eBay purchase . Plus the only other thing I'd need is the stand to put them in . Again , another eBay purchase . I could do without the posters . I already have a mixer, and if I want to plug it into my stereo I can also . I have patch leads , and there is never enough of those . Then I'd just get the dice 🎲🎲 If moog decided to put some presets on their website, that would be handy also . The only real drawback from this more budget solution , is that you still need 2 things to be plugged into the mains instead of one . Anyhow , more comments appreciated

Mmm... I have been on the lookout for a Badtz Marou bass . Onky because it's odd abd collectible . One has come up for sale on fleabay . £150, but open to offers. Just listed today . It's good for metal 😼 No harm in looking . I'm more into synths these days or I'd probably had made an offer ..

Love anything Alex lifeson, schenker, prime satch, macalpine and the Scandinavian stuff like king diamond ,etc plus merciful fate . Alex scolnick love iommis riffs and budgies too. George thorogood , ac/dc Powerage grit. Can't get on with Zak wylde . Just repeated squeals in every solo. Tom morello sounds like he's torturing cats . Steve vai sounds tuneless to me As for Clapton , bores me to tears .

Okay... all wrapped up. Case closed. Money refunded. Thie title of this thread should read Ryman and FedEx , due to the lack of professional customer service . In the last couple of days , I have had couple more customer service advisors asking me to close my PayPal dispute . I refused, telling them I may as well wait an extra few days to receive refund rather than not get it at all as I don't trust Ryman at all. This morning I received an email asking me to review my experience .I thought it was another trust pilot review but it was from Ryman theirselves for their website. Anyway, I criticised their reliance of virtual assistants and lack of customer service skills. The heading of the feedback was PayPal dispute. The last few words were" give me my refund " So, upon seeing this this morning PayPal sent email advising me of refund . One other thing : if you are asked to close your PayPal dispute before receiving payment, do not do that . I'll leave it there ...

Sorry to hear about that bartleby. 😿 That's the thing . Some things are best left alone . I don't think I'll get this modified , as it'd probably cost more than what I paid .Plus it may be a tad overkill .

Yes you're right there . It's annoying ( or was annoying ) when I saw recent you tube clips of people paying a few dollars etc .I paid £80 plus postage , but don't feel sad about it as the condition is immaculate . Plus I have the books ..and a Tandy power adapter 😼

Thank you brx😼👍 I will indeed check that out . I have been watching a few vids of the sk-1 and sk-5 They are shooting up in value now The sampler is one of the main reasons . I did a couple of soundcloud efforts with the app , but something told me to get this . The eBay listing just happened with buy it now . I think I was probably one of the very first to see it . No hesitation , I snapped it up. complete with original box and 2 booklets a fantastic purchase It's taking my mind off of the Moog sound studio which I don't need and cannot afford at this time

..from the '80s . I have been intermittently using the app version , but you cannot beat the real thing

Have a boss dr grooove , which I still need to get to the bottom of . A couple of weeks ago, I picked up a moog dfam . Not sure if it counts , but very easy to get something going . GarageBand has lots of good stuff also I have to read all of this thread ...

I know that with dream theater , the bass is more or less inaudible live. Cant say much about them on record as I don't listen to them on record anymore these days. On a slight tangent, DD verni ( overkill) was probably the first time I heard the bass really cut through on the mix . Quite tangy for metal at the time 😼

Thanks tubby bloke 😼. Glad everything worked out . I just receiced emails from PayPal advising me they had put provisional refund back to my account ( sounds promising ) .Ryman have until 1st May to resolve my dispute ..

Further investigation by myself tells me to escalate to PayPal, which I have just done . If I had closed the case, I would have been shafted . The items are on their way , but I will refuse them when the courier calls .. Will update when I hear more ..

Sorry to hear of your woes Leroy . My issue is now 2 fold : Ryman sent me an email this morning telling me they would like to refund the money but cannot as I have a PayPal case open once this is closed,, they can then refund money for me . The thing is , I don't know if they can be trusted to do so If I close the case , can it be reopened ? Annoying ..

I've just contacted PayPal asking for a refund . That didn't seem to be as difficult as I imagined . I've just got to wait and see what the outcome is .

Further update: I received email today from Ryman telling me that the items have been ordered and will be delivered in 3-5 working days . I have just replied telling them that it is not good enough. No apology No offer of refund of postage . So I want my refund paid into my PayPal account . The tool I used in MSE is called resolver ,and is a very useful . I have typed in the same message there also . Do not use Ryman! Do not use Fed Ex ! Lesson learned ..

Thanks bartleby. I noticed quite a lot of dfams on sale on fleabay over the last few weeks . I wouldn't be surprised if those sellers are going for the moog studio bundle . At the back of my mind , was to sell my dfam and put it towards the studio bundle . Good point about the dice . If there is a download on the moog website for various patches, I could try to mimic them on the grandmother . I'm still tempted , but if there was a Black Friday sale on , that may be best time to get them . Having said all of that , I've still got loads to learn on the grandmother ..

Heads up ! There's a Washburn status on fleabay at the moment . Nothing to do with me, but while this topic is here .. There as a kubicki ex factor on there for a couple of days ..£2,500 Couldnt afford that . It was a black one though and as I'm not gigging , I don't feel to cut up about it .

During lockdown , I'm finally getting to grips with the Grandomther 😸 . A few weeks ago, I decided to get a DFAM . Love it . I noticed that that the above has just been released . Either DFAM with mother32 or Subharmonicon . Times are hard, and the sound studio bundle is not cheap. Plus the artwork to me looks to be on th kiddie side of things . However, with the idea of the dice 🎲🎲 and the mixer it looks more fun and less daunting to use and things seem more immediate to me . Plus I could have thus setup in either the front room or in the small music room . As I have the grandmother and DFAM , is it best to step away and carry on with what I have , or treat it like basses where maybe I should have this . 😼 Any thoughts ?

I decided to google complaints at Ryman , and found something from moneysavingexpert who help you contact them in a more direct way . I'm a member of mse forum anyway , which is a great forum for a multitude of things . Even now , I don't mind if the items arrive ..but with the postage cost deducted and refunded I was on the customer service phone line for a wile while I was preparing my dinner . It has given me an idea to record it partly and upload to soundcloud with a few noises of my own . In the meantime , feedback has been left on Trustpilot and Facebook which I don't use much Further update as and when ..
