1. Should've clarified in my original post(did it on a train). Imho TS were great , until the come out and play album. Saw them acoupleof times and they were great live. Dee is a brilliant frontman. One of my friends hates them . "It's for 15 year olds .." As for celtic frost; nobody seems to mention them on here. Saw them acoupleof of times . The most dry ice (frost I guess) , at their gig at the hammy o. Didn't get them at first, but grew to love them. . Mind you, the guitar solos are all from the Les Dawson school of soloing. Btw; the Dee Snider book is a grea t read. The TomGWarrior book 'Are you morbid' is brilliant. Both say alot about the breaks in the music industry ( or lack of) ,amongst other things.
2. Were they really that bad? Just had a beer with friends. A bit lazy on my behalf because they obviously don't go together ....
3. Thank you very much for making this thread long and enjoying. (Bit like a sausage realy). Gone on a massive food tangent
4. Strange question; is it easier ( or as easy ) as garageband/logic on a mac?
5. Sorry to hear this nige. Seen some good stuff on you pube. It's tough out there tho '. Good luck in your next venture , whenever that is.
6.
Was that close to having a sandwich on Denmark street on Monday - though wondered across the road to Ray's Jazz cafe (in Foyles bookshop) and had a panini there. Cost me more that £2.99 though.
What's it like in there? Do they play jazz? Can you get peanut butter on toast , or a toasted bacon sandwich ?
7. Well, thankfully there was nothing to see . I was talking to myself ' do not look at basses ' My issue tho' if the price says £10, then £10 it is.
8. went to rose Morris . The sales asst . Said " £12.99 please ". I looked at the sticker and told him it said £10. "We don't normally doi it , but I will this time" So paid in cash and went about my merry way
9. Gallien krueger, markbass, walkabout scout(which will be a little dearer)...
10. Have you tried the lemon rock website? You can browse where other bands are playing , and you may find something that way.
11.
This one? http://youtube.com/watch?v=2AbBwTb9AZM
Brilliant
12. You listened to it, and you survived btw, there is no octave. That is the sound of it right there. Totally untweaked. " Recorded" on garageband. I've still got a long way to go recording wise.
13. I have got a recording of it on soundcloud. Go to mellowcat( my username ),and look for telecaster on the bed sheets (yeah I know .. The birthday? Haven't had time to look. Yet cheers
14. Maybe he's gonna replace it with an Ed stock. ( sorry )
15. Pedals on the other hand , seem to move around quite a bit on here IMHO see a few bargains on here. Sold a couple. By not being greedy too
16. Great thread. Awesome job
17. Thanks for the input guys. Thanks for the offer stick man . I may pay you a visit one day;) I think it's something that I couldn't play live in a pb, as I have too much nervous energy and would feel more nervous playing this instrument than a bass. It is a great instrument for home use obviously. One of the clips above, reminded me of stu hamms playing style on Linus and Lucy at the start. It looks like a tough instrument to learn . Maybe one day, I will go for it
18. Update; big thanks to Happy Jack! He loaned me his fishman for a week .(very nice of him to do so, and a top bloke). Before I took it away, jack gave me a demo. As soon as I heard it , I loved it . He did advise me that the distortion was not much to write home about, (or pretty average). He also advised me that performance varies depending on the type of bass you have. So, I took it home and used 3 basses with it. The deeper and thud dire the bass, the better the sound. On my washburn status (which was made passive), it was okay. True, the distortion was fairly light on its own. When mixed with the octavers, it sounded much better. Similar on my vester fretless , active bass. However, on my '77 Telebass it was great. I got lots of studio sounding geezer butler and dug pinnick. If I had to keep distortion off, then the lower octave is the most fitting for live situations and tight sounding. With the distortion on , and the lower octave it was best of all. The upper octave sound was a little weak imho. Prefer it with amp ,instead of studio monitors. Would I get one? Tbh, as I have overdrive /distortion already, I would say no, and would try the digitech bass whammy, which ha been on my mind for sometime.
19. Thanks Senuti works, and it rocks ! I am one happy bunny isn't technology wonderful? (Today anyway)
20. Btw, I'm transferring (or hope to) old 30gb ipod classic to mac snow leopard. I think I have to just copy it to mac, but not iTunes. I tried 1 track and it worked.
21. Thanks how I.will read later. I've just managed to download senuti, and it seems to be working. Will update this as soon as I know for sure
22. Tried one or two . However, after downloading various applications you must pay to complete transfer. Costs around £18 or 56 dollars. Times are hard. Is there a cheaper alternative ?
