  1. I give in, what bass was Badbadnotgoods Chester Hanson playing? Def wasn’t a Grabber that his webpage says he ‘always plays’! edit; found it. An F Bass VF4
  2. It’s just Badbadnotgood is a bit shorter I guess
  3. Badbadnotgood or something similar is a bit of a mouthful for a band name!
  4. Watching a bit of Glasto today the singer in Shed 7 is obs falling foul of the ‘needs glasses/bigger set list’ as he was constantly bending over to look at his. Even announced the wrong song and the guitarist had to correct him! it’s horrible being old! 😂
  5. I’ve been round both these blocks. i used to have the ‘one eye reading, one eye distance’ and, as only an occasional wearer, it felt like you were walking round in circles for 5 mins but the brain quickly compensates. I struggled with early ‘versions’ of multi focal lenses so went back to one short one long for a while. Recently they bought out lenses for astigmatism so I now have one for that and a multi focal and I can see so well I’m thinking of wearing them more often. Anyhoo, I can’t see without glasses so play in them if I can’t be bothers to put lenses in ( or we’re playing somewhere posh and it’s unlikely there will be a fight 😂). The bass player is the studious intellectual anyway so we look cool in glasses anyway?
  6. You can get varifocal contact lenses now too…
  7. Aye, I'm only stating fact. I used HD ages after HX - only recently sold my 500x. And it can be annoying that they keep updating. I've got my sound 'exactly how I want it' a few times then been drawn in to change it after an update dropped.
  8. They have 'history' with this sort of upgrade. When they went from HD to HX (albeit a big step forward, support for HD stopped pretty quickly.

    And in Leeds? Plus DV24?
  11. Get yours for $2000, which will be £2500.. looks great though
  12. It can all be wirelessly done from your phone. Eventually 🤣
  13. Possibly a pain. Well, definitely a pain. But it's the way they've been doing updates for ages. I've not lost anything - apart from the time to do an update.

    Gear4music is still there?
  15. Aye, I have the NUX in ears so ‘wanted’ their wireless as its 5.8. A plus point is the charging case! The thing that pushed me to Blackstar was that the NUX only have a 2hr (ish) battery life before needing to be charged in the case. An Open Mic play at goes on longer much than that - and generally people use my gear even if I don’t play - and a lot of gigs are 2 1/2 hrs. Didn’t want to risk it. I saw both at the Bass Show and another plus is the Blackstar fit in an old glasses case and take up a lot less space in the old leads bag (should we still be calling them that now?).
  16. I had a Boss WL20 (with the Cable Tone) for ages and love(d) it. I just set my EQ to allow for the slight ‘top’ it gave. I found it gave me some ‘punch’. After struggling with dropouts recently I put this down to the (slightly) busier pubs we were playing so changed to the Blackstar Airwire i58 as it was the ‘most similar 5.8ghz from a brand I trust’ I could find. This one has switchable cable tone which I’m currently liking ‘on’. OK I have to remember to charge them but I don’t have ‘another thing to plug in’. I would add that I don’t really run (or walk!) about that much but I like the tone it gives me and they are great for sound checks as you can get to the back of the venue to see how it sounds.
  17. Not a cheap solution but we have a pair of Bose F1s which ‘the whole band’ go through and I no longer need an amp. Had some nice comments about sound too from other bassists who have seen us play - when I was expecting ‘why haven’t you got an amp’. This is for a ‘pub situation’ so I can’t say (yet) if any of the ‘bassness’ would be lost in e.g. a larger hall.
  18. Yes, there arn’t many compatible things where you get paid ‘after’ you’ve done whatever you’ve been paid to do. The band that played my lads wedding got paid before hand. All the power is with the big brewers though. And with pubs closing at the rate they do round my way you’ve got a high chance it will be a different publican 10 days after a gig! 😂
  19. It’s got options so you can import/export. Not sure they are made to ‘interface’ with Cubase specifically. I’ve imported midi files then replaced e.g. the bass.
  20. I have cubasis which I got for £12 when there was a sale. I can’t say it’s ’unreliable’ but I’ve only really use it to ‘note down’ ideas for songs. I just bought a cable, not an interface, so can only record one track at a time. So, for me, ‘it does what I expect without any problems’. The added bonus is that it works very much like Cubase that I use on PC.
  21. There was a stagg eub on here a while back for not much Dosh. Do people think that something like that is a way into double bass?
