  1. Random bit of jamming at our rehearsal last night. I have no idea what song it was, but it may have started as I Don't Need No Doctor. Or Bright Lights...
  2. I wonder if this will work... ...it didn't!
  3. I hope she gets better soon.
  4. If someone has inspired and excited people with their music in their heyday and still live and breathes music, who has the right to say "you've lost your edge mate, time to pack it in"? Why should only us average musicians have the right to carry on as long as we enjoy it?
  5. Sorry I missed that. It's fascinating how the same thing can have different symbolic meanings in different cultures TBH.
  6. 'Unicorn' as a mythical beast is usually taken as a metaphor for 'rare', the opposite of 'universal' when it means 'everywhere'.
  7. I'm sure I've seen a number of bands play less familiar material as the first song of an encore, although I'd struggle to give an example.
  8. EWWWWW! Silk on the wrong end of the string IMHO!
  9. Best of luck, fingers crossed for you.
  10. Best wishes Mrs Wrinkly
  11. I enjoy variety.
  12. No, not far off, that does give a similar effect.
  13. I think two 1x12 makes a lot of sense if building your own as the extra cost will be much smaller than if buying commercial units.
  14. Excellent idea. I'll bring my C2 and my AT212.
  15. Just don't let him touch it until 5pm or none of us will get to see it!
  16. For me Hereford would be the ideal location for a Midlands bash 😉
  17. It seems a long time ago I tried to make some 'traditional' jazz bass mutes, gave up and so found a set of real ones, courtesy of a basschatter. Recently the Squier jazz I fitted them to has been nearby, and it's reminded me that the sound is not what you'd expect. The sustain is about four seconds, not super long, but not the dull thump a chunk of foam under the strings or a clip on mute would give. The effect is partly losing the highs and partly to emphasisi the initial attack and first stages of decay. Great for a staccato sound (thin Andy Fraser on the Mr Big solo). It really changes how you play by making fast, complex passages really clearly articulated. It also brings the sound closer to a double bass than using flats alone would (I'm using them with roundwounds). I think I'll take it to my next rehearsal and see what happens.
  18. Thanks Reaper! Excellent 12 band EQ plugin with HP and LP filters has done a lot, still a bit too much reverb.
  19. Still to try it out... Damn good party speaker though...
  20. You are not alone... ne of my favourite t-shirt designs too:
  21. We may look like punks, but secretly we're a prog band...
  22. An excuse to return to Nottingham? Go for it.
