  1. Just done an lf, as we've both had cold symptoms from Wednesday. Negative 🙂
  2. I've made the wise decision to take the same stuff tomorrow as my gig yesterday, plus a few bits. Means I don't have to go back to base today.
  3. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=124I9Ps2Ow0
  4. Not a huge crowd last night, but very appreciative. Three basses is a lot, but sound frombthe terror/AT212 was grest with new or nearly new strings on all three.
  5. Feel I ought to bring one of my brace of Hohner headlesses...
  6. Actually this was last night... Laurence Jones at Cardiff Globe supported by the Mark Pontin Group, a blues-tastic evening! This vid features Alex Ainsworth, whose band I play bass with, guesting with Mark Pontin.
  7. It's all about never having an opportunity to play with the band at gig volumes for a whole afternoon doing nothing but set up my sound and diddle with pedals! I might suggest we have a rehearsal dedicated to playing with our sounds ratehr than songs.
  8. I have stopped using compression - even though my compressor has the general quality of being a 'better knob' (I suspect it limits my bottom end bringing out the overtones rather than killing them). I use it with everything at, or close to 12 o'clock - largely on the basis that most pedals are designed to work best at middle settings and the extremes are usually exactly that (classic example, the HM2 where everything dialled is the classic tone, simply because it is so extreme!) This bit of your link possibly explains why: I set the gain on my hybrid amp (Bass Terror) individually for each bass so that I can go from a clean sound to an overdriven one by digging in, and get real dirt/clank if I need it (almost exclusively fingerstyle player). I suspect a compressor could make finding that point more difficult and make me have to work harder to change between the sounds with my technique. Thoughts?
  9. To the right of the PA speaker on the bar, under my headstock - lit up. What a ridiculously cramped venue - we did three sundays in a row, playing to a virtually empty place 😞 But they liked us, and we got booked for another one of their chain as a result. Twice the fee, and it was rammed...
  10. I can't understand why some peple feel so strongly about jazz vs precision. I've decided I like both, although they are different.
  11. Seeing the anniversary tour next Tuesday in Cardiff. They were awesome in March, supporting Saxon.
  12. I haven't got the bum for it...
  13. Nope, and I keep my socks well away from it as well.
  14. I keep mine in the car as a backup.
  15. Will have my bass terror and an elf. Also a Hotone Nano perhaps 🤣
  16. They each contain a small piece of neutron star.
  17. Bluesfire... but it's in my signature!
  18. Played the Three Tuns in Chepstow yesterday. Fantastic place, plenty of room to set up virtually no seats, so packed with people standing. Really great reception, despite me and drummer Paul both being covid vaxxed the day before and feeling decidedly subpar luckily the adrenaline switched in. Got some great feedback, especially Alex our prodigy guitarist. Definitely A buzz from going down well at a venue where lots of great bands have played.
  19. Was Gandalf in the audience? Thats an impressive smoke ring.
