  1. I'd expect a partial short to cause a significant impedance difference, leading to a noticeable difference in volume. I doubt any normal QC check would pick that up. Thomann are poor at understanding technical faults. My brother had a HB with mis-wired controls and they asked for videos. Although the strange control behaviour was obvious in his video(s!) they just saw both PUPs worked and wouldn't accept there was an issue. So... he just said "I've decided I don't like it", returned it and then ordered another one. No questions asked. 🤷‍♂️ (Same thing works at Ikea apparently "this mattressdoesn't fit teh bed you said it would!" - "nothing wrong with it, we can't change it!" -"I've decided I don't like this mattress" - "OK, I'll process a refund." In contrast, I got a Joyo amp with a euro plug and no adaptor, emailed them, and they sent one out next day.
  2. Possible theres a short in the neck pup?
  3. Why was Chris Glenn wearing his y-fronts outside his trousers? John Major fetish?
  4. ironically, there's a band I would go and see if they reformed (properly!)
  5. Egad is your guitarist Dave Myers?
  6. It's the Open University philosophy - good is good enough.
  7. "Stewblack the Steeplejack" Got a good ring to it!
  8. The Joyo bantamp has 'one knob' compression. This sort often seems to work well, presumably as all the clever parameters are preset to sensible values.
  9. Some say the same about carbon fibre... Which is just another composite. 😁
  10. I'm convinced we can over-exaggerate the significance of some of these curves. 3dB of extra or less bass or treble will be very subtle, 6dB isn't huge. Whrn my live sound isn't right I seem to make adjustments in the "two hours per tweak" sort of range, and that seems to work. My frustration is usually that the pa has too much bottom end, or rather they cut my middle and top too much (then say my amp is booming 🙄 ). I do find myself dialing in a smile for home practice - and why not! Live or rehearsal with the Orange Terror everything starts near 12 o'clock andvgets tweaked. Bass and treble often get a slight boost, mid can go either way. Sometimes treble needs a big boost to balance the pa... I'd be interested to know the actual response of the Terror, as the rumoured profile would be almost unusable! My venerable 80s Trace with GP11, I have the graphic set to lift the mid and treble about 3dB. Whether it sounnds better with pre-shape in or out seems to depend on: The song The bass I'm using Which way the wind is blowing and the ohase of the moon.
  11. I've got a GRbass at212, but akll I would say is appreciate the power handling and efficiency of modern cabs. This means I would always go for a 2x12 or 2x10 4 ohm cab not an 8 ohm one, as you really won't need to double up.
  12. My stack of choice, also man with two Fenders caught gigging an Epiphone and a Squier... again!
  13. Mine came today. Euro plug only, swapped in the one from my hotone psu. Don't like separate psu, but can see it makes getting CE approval massively cheaper. Sounds good through PJB C2, but obviously not a good test of volume. Will try with my 4R gr bass 2x12 soon. Bit noisy with compressor on.
  14. Try using the effects send instead.
  15. Just a jam night, but gun to play some random stuff, all at a furious pace... steppin out, hide away, mojo working and something else! Gave my lovely old maya a workout.
  16. Ok it's not a bass but it's pretty.
  17. I've ordered one of these. I don't need it, but it's affordable, compact, and I saw Stew's at the Bass Bash and it was cute.
  18. Excellent! Last gig I did they put a 'bucket' round (OK a beer glass...) that nearly doubled our fee.
  19. Oooh... I prefer the cheaper one!
  20. Ah. Are the specs otherwise similar?
  21. Me no unnnerstand! These have cloverleaves. LPB is gorgeous.
  22. Well my first gig in my hometown. I felt I was rough but we went down a storm. One very strange song, the drummer decided to experiment with a different drum patter for Radar Love. He thought we were put off by the unannounced chage (he'd seen a youtube video). Actually it was the fact he played at a tempo of about 230 instead of 175. I think we broke the Guinness World Record for speed playing the song... I didn't know I could play that fast!
  23. My better half booked "the ultimate zz top tribute" but they only played 20% zz top songs, ehich confused people a lot, although they were very good (apparently).
