  1. I read that Fender sales nosedived in the last 12 months as the "pandemic boom" in sales ran out of steam. Some smazing deals on these and I'd get a 40th Jazz if I didn't already have two lovely jazz basses.
  2. Which pub? Back in the 80s that title would have fitted the Angel's back bar...
  3. Don't decide. Bring both! Seriously though, someone else is sure to have a BF so bring the Berg?
  4. Who Did You Think I Was by John Mayer. Blues... but the Pino way.
  5. Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons at the Patriot for the 'launch party' for new top 40 album 'Kings of the Asylum'. Only promoted via their Facebook page it sold out in hours. I'm a huge fan... seen them seven times since 2018. Getting the full stadium filling performance on a 200 capacity club run by an MCC, was utterly awesome!
  6. I think that what I put, just from the opposite perspective 😁
  7. Unless you are using an HPF set high so it filters out the fundamentals, then it shouldn't impact the Mutron.
  8. Your tone will vary with your level of hydration. Even pick players will find the pick is held less rigidly when they are well hydrated.
  9. Depped it a couple of weeks ago (keyboard player only joined in on the brief choruses?!) 🙂 now the singer for the new band wants to do the Beck, Bogart, Appice version - good news is that basswise it's pretty much playing the keyboard part like we all do anyway!
  10. Never got invited up to play (other than at Jam sessions or local bands) but this did happen to me last year when I shouted out to one of my bass heroes that I saw him play in 1981!
  11. Perhaps the initial experiments could start with ash, alder and maple...
  12. Lots of people make stunning, beautiful, eminently playable and gorgeous sounding basses. A minority of those people are also excellent salespersons and become rich and famous. That's all I'll say on the matter for now.
  13. Can't resist sharing this pic. Haven't got many pics with me and my rig!
  14. Signed out, saw only Rotosound ads (one very annoying as it keeps cycling). Signed in, got six new message notifications for messages up to a year or more old that I've already read...
  15. Personally, I got fed up with worrying about this stuff years ago. I just ticked OK and got on with life. But all this discussion piqued my interest. I see that despite being a recently renewed supporting member Adblock is blocking 17 items on this page. But turning adblock off doesn't make them visible. So what are these invisibles? Incidentally, I have 'show acceptable ads' enabled in Adblock.
  16. It is if you don't want to sign in afresh every time you visit the site.
  17. So info on this page is no longer correct? @ped https://www.basschat.co.uk/cookies/
  18. When improvising I use: Root-fifth-b7-octave until I know if its major or minor. Pentatonic minor Mixylodian mode Major scale Minor scale Pentatonic major Chromatic But with blues you use loads of accidentals e.g. adding b5 to the major or blurring the lines between major and minor. Most of this just happens automatically, you have to listen wjere the guitar is heading. Should add the big choice with blues is do you play a riff based line in various positions or a walking line (or some sort of hybrid).
  19. Last night my partner was live streaming Hawkwind and a notification popped up "Dai Shell is watching" 😎🤣
  20. Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons supporting Hawkwind. Double header of my dreams 😁 front row too 😎
  21. I use post-eq di so I get a decent say in my sound foh. I always start with eq pretty much flat and boost what's needed for a good sound. Saturday afternoon in a field needed extra bass as not through pa. Evening in front of a wall in a long thin pub mids needed boosting. Sunday on a proper stage, pretty much flat but a tiny amount of boost to treble and bass, hit the sweet spot as when I switched to my jazz was able to really change my sound with the controls on the bass and hand placement. Fwiw that's the real test. If your rig/pa sound is unbalanced, you will struggle to achieve a range of tones.
  22. Hope your dad is ok. I see what you mean... looks like a fag!
